Here, I feel like my daughter has plenty of caring adults keeping her safe and loved. I've been really amazed by the culture of care starting with the front admin, Ms. Chelsea who makes every single visitor feel welcome and seen. I've watched her navigate 6 different tasks simultaneously with poise, care, and professionalism. My only feedback to make this school shine brighter better would be to have more playground supervisors during recess and lunch and to get rid of the spinning "tree" that has broken multiple kids' arms.

I was able to imagine the various generations of Vista kids attending this pristine white (even if with some maintenance needed) school. I loved so many details, from the 1930s water fountains to the skates 'parking lot'. They have a memorial fragrant rose garden and the trees are just gorgeous. So much greenery and open spaces. I like the architecture of this school a lot and the memories the past I imagine were made here. Another cute touch are the tiles also Spanish style.

The only areas on campus I visited were the student parking lot, stadium, and the girls locker room. Parking: Free parking. Although technically you're supposed to have a permit, but why let a little technicality stop you. The layout of the student lot is just plain weird. It doesn't follow a normal flow for a parking lot. And there's black, blend into the asphalt parking berms in the worst places. Let's put it this way, you need to pay attention or you're bottom out your car. Good thing I was paying attention... The stadium: Great job stadium design - no ones faces into the sun. But oh, it's freezing cold when the wind blows. And boy does it rip through that area like a mini hurricane. The girls locker room: This was huge and relatively clean. Lots of lockers and showers. Appreciated how the bathrooms were at the end of the building so that you don't have to walk through the locker room to reach them. One of the sinks was broken. I didn't take a photo. Yeah, like I want to try and explain to Escondido PD why I'm taking photos in a high school locker room. But I did snap a photo of the sign in the bathroom stall. When I read some of the Yelp reviews for Potter Junior High, I was nervous to send my daughter for…read more7th grade but after one year there, I am happy to share that it is a really wonderful little school. My daughter's teachers were ALL wonderful - kind, passionate about kids and their subject(s), engaged in the process with the right amount of authoritativeness to keep kids in their seats and doing the work. The admin team is VERY strong, led by the new principal Dr Ramirez, his VPs Mrs Taylor and Mrs Jessica and the entire support staff is top notch. I think the student experience is deeply effected by how involved and supported they are by their family. Obviously this can be tough when parents have to work multiple jobs and juggle lots of kids - which is the case for many at Potter but I think the staff is really great at making sure all students get the support they need. On to Fallbrook High School next!
