I hate to leave bad reviews, but this was the WORST experience I have ever had with a healthcare professional. Jeffrey Van Troba was incredibly disappointing. On my first visit, I was seen for less than five minutes for my eczema, in that time he took one look at me and prescribed me three medications, leaving out side effects, how they work, and what I should expect. As a result, I suffered from photosensitivity from doxycycline and some other strange effects to my skin. If I had know these were common issues, I wouldn't have been so mad! Frustrated by this, I went in to my second appointment with low expectations, and I explained to the nurse- who checked me in- my issues. She told him before I got the chance and Jeffrey Van Troba came into my room and attacked me. He did not let me speak or hear my story. He spoke over me. Saying that he was "sorry if I had something else going on in my head" and "didn't listen when I told you the side effects." He tried to tell me I didn't know what I was talking about, and completely invalidated all of my concerns. I will grant, the supervisor called me after the appointment and apologized sincerely. I was grateful she called me although it wasn't her fault, but I cannot recommend this business or Jeffrey Van Troba. I would rather drive to Seattle (2.5 hrs instead of 30 min) any day. read more

If there was a "NO" star rating, that's what I would give them. I went in to have many skin tags removed. The one that was largest didn't come off. I asked if I could go back and have that one zapped off again free of charge. They said no, I would have to pay another full office visit. To top it off, they also kept losing my payment information and billed me three times. Each time I sent my credit card info, put a stamp on it and mailed from the post office. They kept saying they didn't get it. If there is another dermatology place in Yakima, go there. From the other reviews I am seeing here, I am not the only one who has had a bad experience. read more

This place is dirty. I was taken back to a room that had dirty needles, gauze, etc. it had not been cleaned before I went t in. A nurse comes in, no introduction, says she has to cut off a mole. I asked who she was and was she qualified. She got angry. The bandage she put on fell off before I left the office. I dripped blood all the way home ...for an hour..before I could fix it. They said they wanted to cut more. I said no. Went to Swedish dermatology. There is nothing wrong! They cut me for $$$. Swedish read the report. Calls this place egregious.....I agree. It's awful. Update, they just sent me a bill. 11 1/2 months after I was there. It doesn't even deserve one star. Stay away. They make money by doing biopsies. read more

I enjoyed Dr Van Troba and the level of service he provided but the staffing here is atrocious. Been attempting to get a needed medication refilled for three weeks and getting absolutely nowhere. All you can do is leave messages and in three weeks I've been called back once during week 1 and was told they sent in the prescription but they sent in the wrong prescription despite me insisting they write down the name of the medication I needed. I can't fathom an excuse for this lack of professionalism. If there was a specific reason they can't refill the prescription I'd expect to be told so. At this point though I give up. I'm now hunting for a new dermatologist so I can waste more money and start all over on a treatment I've been doing for well over six months. read more

only saw pa....told me my allergies after testing but when there were several I asked for them to be written down they could not be bothered told me to listen! what the heck....especially as the were telling me I was allergic to black the color black....obviously some chemical but without the name. could do no research...asked again on follow up....nope....and the front desk calling five times before the appointment to confirm that I knew there was a copay! on the third call I TOLD them I would gladly pay in full at the time for service and bill myself with the receipt and coded paperwork...thinking they must be hurting for money and that I could wait for reimbursement. they still called two more times and when I went in made a big stink about how I felt I did not need to pay my co payment.....what the heck.....please I know dermatology is in such demand but don't go here! they see the posts call no one and fix nothing....AWFUL PLACE read more

I drove 30 miles for an appointment. The office waiting room was completely empty but the power mad receptionist said that if I did not wear a mask they would not see me. She could not give me any medical reason why. Therefore, I walked out. I refuse to let people with room temperature IQs run my life. I would expect the medical profession to know that masks do absolutely no good against a virus. I will not be going back! read more

This office has an extremely unprofessional office manager who yells at clients on the phone. I called to enquirer about my medication being filled and why I was being billed for my copay when I already paid it at the office and I got an earful from Heather (office manager) telling me that my tone was off and that everyone in the US is waiting on their medication. She also told me her daughter was waiting for the same medication which I don't know how it's my business to know her daughters' business. I was not rude to her. I didn't yell or "have a tone" with her. I was simply frustrated with the lack of communication and asked why no one has contacted me to let me know the status of my prescription yet I'm getting messages from the pharmacy saying the prescriber denied my script. I called for answers and didn't get any. I still don't have an answer as to why I'm being billed for the copay I paid in office. read more

Went in a yearly skin check up. Usual Doc practice had moved to Bellevue. PA did a cursory look took about 5 minutes. I was concerned about a mole, PA said not to worry would I like it removed. Sprayed with liquid nitrogen.later billed for $165 for appointment and $170 for a squirt of nitrogen. Hard to get ahold of theses guys to pay bill. my visit was to be a follow up of a skin cancer removal by my gp. They escorted me to a room, then came in and told me I didnt need seen, because the gp had gotten a clean cut. But I could have a skin check for any other problems, if I really wanted to do so. Well I had driven for 1 hour to go to my appointment, of course I wanted something done. The pa gave me a quick look over, and sent me on my way. Now 6 months later, I have another spot to be taken off. and yes, it can now be seen with the naked eye. Front desk women are quite rude. Don't greet you, don't look you in the eye. Don't care. The nurse doesn't seem to know what she's doing. The providers have their schedules so close that while I'm waiting I can hear them greeting another patient next door to me when my appointment had started 15 min earlier. Went in for Botox and was told to wait for my follow up call. A MONTH later was called and they left a voice mail. When I called back kept going to voicemail. Finally left a message that my Botox didn't work on one side. They never returned my call. Was hoping to at least get it fixed. Everyone was very nice when I was there, but not worth it if it doesn't work and they won't correct the situation or return calls of complaint. read more

I can't rate this clinic based on care because I never made it past the front desk. They lost my business because of their front desk staff. Sadly they are they first impression and should have way better care and professionalism then they do. I can not recommend them based on that. I would not recommend this place. I have never been impressed by their phone system (rarely answer the phone, dropped my phone calls on multiple occasions) and the people I talk with on the phone, but I have had to keep going back due to irritation on my lip that I can't figure out. Then I finally got patch testing done to see if I had an allergy, and without telling me, they used sharpie to draw all over my back to mark where the patches were so they could analyze it later that week. I was wearing a light colored bra and it stained it very badly. It also stained my bed sheets. I called to see if there was anything they could do - I left a voicemail for the manager and after not hearing back for 2 days (which I feel is unprofessional), I called again and after about 10 attempts of calling, as no one would pick up the phone, I was finally connected to her. She said there was nothing they could do. I suggested that they use tape to mark people's backs or at the very least warn people ahead of time so that they can wear black clothing. She said she would pass along the information to the providers. She did not seem understanding at all about my frustration and there was no apology. I would absolutely avoid Valley Dermatology if you can help it. Horrible customer service. read more

I first called 3 weeks ago after my Doctor referred me to a dermatoligist. I called them to make an appt for a skin tag removal and the gal told me I would need a referral. I thought a little odd but ok. So my doctor's office sent it over. They said they didn't get it, so I called my Dr. Office and told them to resend it so they did. It was under my maiden name, so by the time they figured that out they said ok we have it now it will be a week or so til we will allow you to make an appt. So today I got a call after almost 2 week and I was told they have a new Dr. On staff and is pretty open. So I could come this week. Then she says what are we seeing you for I said tag removal. That's when she said we are so busy with cancer PT we can't see you. I can't rate them on their care but their initial visit communication is lacking. Just disappointed. read more

I was referred by Creekside Convenient Care late on a Monday, was called to set an appointment on Tuesday, and had several time choices the following day. So my best advice is to avoid these unethical, dis-honest and face marring people. My cat gave me ringworm, I went to my appointment and wrote on the top of my paperwork RINGWORM. I had a small strip on my forehead about the size of a Band-Aid. She, Patricia Nichols PA-C, says, oh dear, we go through the usual stuff of; have you made changes to soap, make-up, detergent....here's what you do... don't wear make-up or moisturizer etc. for 2 weeks then come back. 2 weeks later it has spread, she takes a scraping, comes back and says "it's not a fungus". 2 weeks later it's worse how about a cortisone shot, it gets worse. Finally, after half of my face, no kidding, is a horrible mess, she takes another scrape and has to put in stiches, which scars, and guess what ? IT'S A FUNGUS!!! All the while, I am treating my cat, the vet took a scrape and cultured it and called and said yes it ringworm. So for my final appt. to get the STICHES OUT, and a scrip, they have me re-fill out new paperwork, my guess is to cover up the fact I had written on it RINGWORM. I can't believe I have a quarter size scar on my face, right there In plain view, and my vet diagnosed my fungus. I was volunteering at a hospital the whole time and it was very embarrassing to have to deal with e-one staring at me. A LOT of money was spent on these so called dermatologists. The office staff and nurses are not nice or helpful. At the time of my visits,..... UPDATE: I told them I was in the process of critiquing them on Yelp and guess what? They called me. There info in the computer has been falsified to show that my first visit was in the fall, I think to cover up the fact that they had me re-fill out my paperwork. Honestly, s-one is covered up their paper-trail. So my best advice is to avoid these unethical, dis-honest and face marring people. read more

My mother was suppose to come in to have her sutures removed, but they refused to see her because I live in Seattle and saw her for 24 hours and they thought we have the COVID-19 virus, even though both of us have no symptoms at all. These employees are just at risk as us for having the virus and to deny somebody medical treatment is beyond words. They told her to take out her sutures at home with scissors or tweezers, whatever she could find. Over the weekend my mother did try, but could not get the sutures out. After my mother and myself called multiple times on Monday, they finally said they would take them out, but she could not come into the clinic. She had to stay in her car and lift up her shirt and somebody would come out. They came out but if they were so considered that she had the virus, then why did they not wear a mask? This was so humiliating to her and she was so upset. She watched as other patients came in and out, but she was turned away because they think everybody in Seattle has the virus (so they told her that). Once again this all because I live in Seattle, not her and I want to remind you readers we don't have symptoms. I'm beyond mortified and so sad that a medical facility where you are suppose to feel safe and get treatment would do something to this level. I am so disappointed with Valley Dermatology. I have ...or should I say, had been a patient for years. I scheduled my yearly or so checkup for skin/sun damage, etc., and was told to fill out an new packet, etc. I brought it with me to my appointment and handed the receptionist my insurance card and also I just recently became double insured so I handed her my other card. She said oh......if you have Kaiser you need preauthorization to see us. I said, that is fine, just use my Regence card (that I have had for years) she said if you are double insured they HAVE to use both cards. I said so you are not going to see me to day even though I have been a client for years and she said no. I couldn't believe it!!!! It takes a while to get into the place and all these years I have never seen the actual dermatologist, just a PA.....I told her to give me my papers back and left. I can't believe it. They are basically the ONLY dermatologist in Yakima! I am totally lost on what to do......... read more

I had my Botox done at Valley Dermatology with Gretchen Thorner. She was terrific, very sweet, and I LOVE the results...goodbye wrinkles!! It was my first time getting Botox and I was very nervous. She explained everything and put my mind at ease, it didn't hurt like I expected. She recently moved from New York City where she used to work. Yakima Is so lucky to have her. read more
