Michael Hanks is a powerhouse preacher and is the type of shepherd that truly cares about people. I was treated with such kindness. After the service it wasn't like other churches where they shake your hand and usher you to your vehicle, it was the opposite. I was welcomed into what is know as the VIP room to meet with Pastor Hanks and they gave me some really thoughtful gifts to welcome me to the church and thank me for coming. I can say without a doubt that when I'm in Ceres this is the church I will attend.

The people are warm and welcoming. Beautiful sanctuary to worship in. Wonderful Youth Leader for all ages with weekly gatherings and activities. There are also several Bible Study groups and social groups to be apart of. It is one of the few churches that still has a choir and hand bells. Lots of opportunities to get involved in if that is what you are looking for. There is a prayer team to pray with you anytime. Can't say enough about this church. I attended Calvary Chapel in Modesto for many years until a bit of U.S. politics was included. God…read moreis not republican, nor democrat. I left. A few months ago I tried Turlock Calvary Chapel. The pastor began preaching against homosexuality, and sitting in the row in front of me to the right was a family with 2 teenage sons, one of which I would bet money on being gay. My heart dropped. This boy, if so, was just told he was not worthy. People say - God doesn't make mistakes. Then, this boy is not a mistake. No matter what scripture says regarding homosexuality, perhaps not crushing a child is a far better way to encourage his faith. This experience has been on my heart since that day. I hope the pastor sees this and perhaps considers that preaching love and kindness is not going against his moral values instead of preaching against someone who is probably struggling already.
