Our interaction with Yarra Valley guest house was short lived. We booked one nights accommodation for Good Friday Easter 2016, and considered ourselves lucky to find somewhere last minute for under $300 a night.
We we wrong.
At 1 pm on good Friday, which is 1 hour before check in, we received a call from the owner to advise "we've got no room. Computer glitch. Your rooms taken. Sorry"
With a less than apologetic attitude. In fact, I'd go as far to say, he didn't give a shit. When I asked if he could assist to help us find somewhere to stay in the Yarra valley last minute - he laughed - and said "not my problem"
What's worse? My partner called him back to ask him why he'd left it so late to call us, and why he was refusing to assist. His response? "You're welcome to come into reception and sort it out face to face - but I've got a shovel"
Horrible. The worst experience and totally ruined our Easter weekend. We drove back to Melbourne, after cancelling all of our plans.
We reported this to wotif.com, who called the owner to confirm the story. We later found out that the owner of this establishment lied and told them he "offered a replacement room but they turned it down" in an attempt to prevent us from getting a refund.
