The parking lot here isn't huge so it can get busy but if you are able to find parking in one of the nearby streets and stroll down, you are in for a real treat. There is always wild life to observe and pedestrian friendly path that will make you want to keep on walking! A bridge at the end of the parking lot will take you over to the Pickering side where the waterfront trail continues well into the Durham region with expansive waterview most of the way. Definitely a great place to visit for some quiet time!

So many wonderful features here: -free parking in two lots (that would NEVER happen in Vancouver) -a walk around the pond involves a flat trail, one foot bridge, and one stretch of boardwalk through a marshy patch -you never know what wild birds you might see and/or hear here (we saw a heron in the pond, and I heard the call of loons! For real!) -there is a lovely canopy of trees over the walking trail (which was very welcome, on the hot day I visited), and plenty of benches to relax along the way -there are areas of grassy meadow lands on small hills in areas by the walking trail, perfect for a picnic or throwing a frisbee on a nice day -my Toronto friend says sometimes she's seen people fishing in the pond! What a great, little oasis right in the city!

We came here mainly for a walk and managed to finish a section of a trail which spans about 4km both ways. Trail is decent but not as nice as the one in Rouge Valley. Trail is also a bit narrow and not many pretty sights or well maintained grasses along the way. Beach sand has lots of pebbles so not the greatest for barefoot adventures. You do get to approach a long dock with a lighthouse at the end of the path which gives you a nice open view of boats docked and sailed. Overall not much wow factor here asides from a little walk and some lakefront views. Unless you live in the neighborhood not worth the trip.

I can even feel the "ocean" breeze...and there is this sandy beach.... Beachfront Park is a little piece of paradise for everyone and even their dogs in Pickering. Water, Beach, Boardwalk, Kids Playground and Spray Pool, Beach Volleyball Courts... Sunbathing or Chilling Out in the Shade... Have a picnic or enjoy a drink in the nearby restaurants... The boardwalk also leads up to Ontario Power Generation's (OPG) giant wind turbine.. you can think of as an eye sore or the benefit of alternative power....

There's more information by the carving ifs you'd like to know more about the Elpis and the carving. There are several trails and the level of difficulty of noted by the number of hikers in the legend of the information board. Shade appears to be very important to me so I was happy that there's plenty of trees to provide shade on the trail. There's paved and unpaved trails within the park. There's also sheltered picnic areas, a playground, washroom facilities (that happened to not be open when we went) and a pavilion but that was also not open. I liked that there was hardly any noise from cars on the roads so you can fully take in your surroundings and enjoy nature while you're there.

There were Rangers available at the entrance to the hike (not sure if this is normal, or just because of the toronto open days weekend). They were really helpful and offered great recommendations for the hikes, The hike we chose was fairly easy,although it was confusing at times due to the signage. We very rarely get lost, however on this hike we got lost at least twice and had to back track. But apart from that it was still a great time.

The water park is really lackluster, no one uses it. The gazebo is regularly occupied in the morning by Asian grannies doing tai chi. A sight to behold. The south has a baseball field, a larger playground, a skatepark, a basketball court, two more tennis courts, and another soccer field. This half is often bustling with activity, especially in the summer. The place looks right proper and is well-maintained by the staff. The pond is a nice touch that is surrounded by the verdant fields. If you haven't come to this place for a little walk, give it a try. Just look out for the geese.

The entrance fee is per person, but so worth it as it goes into preserving this greenery. While walking the trail, I saw a nice patch of Trilliums. The grounds are well-maintained and perfect for anyone looking to have a leisure walk. Would love to come back to explore further. Good for: Exercise, Hiking
