Van der Linde is one of these unremarkable shops that you hardly notice until you need something…read morespecific stationery-like. Like a foam board. Don't get mislead by the shop front, this place is huge! And it's not a stationery store (like I thought because of the display) but an artist supply (like it says on the plaque). But they've also got stationery. Only when you enter and walk around you notice how big this shop is and their assortment is HU-MUN-GOUS! I haven't seen so many different paint / acrylic brands in all my life so far. I guess Van der Linde basically has got everything that you may ever need for painting (thousands of paint tubes and brushes) or being creative with paper whatsoever. They have more different articles than you can even imagine. All kinds of paper colours and sizes, sketch blocks, maps, foam boards, books about relevant topics, a vast stationery assortment, spray, easels, and and and. Not just for coats, but it seems they have every type of fabric imaginable. It's a bit of a trek though because since Covid they have re-located to the small village of Weesp (about 45 minutes if you take the Sprinter train from Amsterdam Centraal Station including a 25 min walk) but in my opinion well worth the effort! It's not a slick operation (no fancy store fronts and beautiful displays) but a friendly family-owned operation with a vast inventory. So if you are looking for something you are not quite sure of (like ideas), their warehouse/store in Weesp is a great place to wander through! T.

We were being respectful and silent, looking through the postcards for around 20 minutes, before she came up to us and rudely snapped "You two are beginning to annoy me. Five minutes and you're out." Every instinct in me wanted to put down the 13 postcards we were buying, and leave, and to be frank, I am annoyed that I didn't. All we wanted to do (and as the only people in the store) was to buy some postcards, but the way we were treated was nothing short of disgusting. There are many places to buy lovely postcards in Amsterdam, and I would recommend visiting any other store.
