I took my GSD to Dr. Danielson to establish care and discuss gastropexy, neuter, and hernia repair. The front staff and vet tech were nice. The nightmare started when Dr. Danielson entered. Before the appointment, I spoke with the staff via email explaining that I have an under-2-year-old GSD who is hyper, excited, and can be mouthy, but is not aggressive. I came prepared with a muzzle, e-collar, Herm Sprenger, vest, and had given him trazodone beforehand as an abundance of caution. The room was small and already had my mom, myself, my dog, and the vet tech. When Dr. Danielson entered, my dog went to sniff him. He then lowered the weight scale, which made a loud noise, causing my dog to back into us and bark. (This was the eerily similar review I mentioned that someone posted) I was immediately asked if I had a trainer. I said I had used two. His response was, "Clearly they were not good." He then proceeded to lecture me about my dog's behavior rather than discuss why we were there. He told me my dog should not be "protecting" me and, when my mom tried to explain that this was a new environment with a lot happening, he put his hand up and said, "Don't do that." He then had the vet tech take my dog to the back because he might do better without me. Shortly afterward, we were told my dog had slipped his muzzle and e-collar and had gotten tangled in his leash. I was told he got his paw caught and broke everything off. The explanation did not make sense to me, especially because the muzzle was returned to me unhooked from the buckle holes which is more difficult to remove than the quick release. When my dog was brought back, he immediately came to me, laid down, and allowed me to put everything back on without any issue. Dr. Danielson asked how we could finish the exam. I declined. My dog had been through enough, and after the way I was spoken to, I no longer felt comfortable continuing. He made sure to recommend a specific trainer and give me their card on the way out. I later looked into that facility and found reviews that were even worse. If you have a dog who is on their absolute best behavior in new places and doesn't bark or if you enjoy being scolded about your pet-parenting without being asked what you do, then this is the place for you!

When we got there they have signage on the door to call the office number. I did and she picked up asking if we had masks. I ended up purchasing one from them for $2.80 in order to come into the office. When inside they have the front area sectioned off where you sit with your pet and don't move from the area. They dr came out and sat across the room to discuss the symptoms, etc. they then took Bingo to the back and we had to remain in the lobby. Soon the dr came back letting us know that it was just an infection and prescribed some antibiotics. Expensive vet bill but glad to know that they take Care Credit and that our doggie is all better now. If you don't have a mask and don't want to purchase one they'll have you remain outside while they take your pet inside. Very professional place and great to know that they have procedures in place for COVID to protect all parties.

Dr. Espinoza spent quality time with us and discussed options for care at Angus' stage of life. She gave us sound options and advice. When I repeatedly questioned whether all the proposed lab work was truly necessary, the veterinarian finally admitted that several tests were not necessary at that point and could wait. If I had not challenged the recommendations, would I have been charged for lab work my pet did not immediately need? I then asked to speak with the owner, who is also a veterinarian. Instead of addressing my concerns, she told me that the clinic has to make money to pay its overhead. I was stunned. I asked her directly whether that meant they take advantage of trusting customers who bring in their beloved family pets by recommending services that are not immediately necessary. She had no response. I also heard that the practice is moving into a larger facility. After being told that customers' money is needed to cover the clinic's overhead, I cannot help but question whether aggressive testing and excessive charges are helping finance that expansion!!!!! That is my personal concern based on what I experienced and what the owner said directly to me!! Veterinary recommendations should be based on what an animal medically needs--not on a clinic's overhead or expansion plans. Pet owners are frightened and vulnerable during an emergency, and they deserve honesty, transparency, and informed consent. I left feeling misled, taken advantage of, and unable to trust their recommendations. I will never return. Demand an itemized estimate, ask whether every test is immediately necessary, and consider getting a second opinion. Based on my experience, go here at your own financial risk!!!
