There are some staff members who are very nice and easy to get along with, but many of them bring their personal views into the classroom which can create a very unpleasant experience. In several cases, some teachers have criticized and ridiculed pastors and evangelists I enjoy listening to and following, to the delight of the class. Also, previous student experiences have been used as examples in the classroom to create an atmosphere where those with similar experiences would feel belittled and afraid to share their opinions. If you are a more conservative style Christian, I would not recommend this school to you. Money is also a big issue if you decide to go to this school. The school offers Government Student Loans which would be considered a plus, however the teachers of the school have openly criticized people being in debt. I was even questioned as to why my family was in debt by two different teachers on two separate occasions. In the past 5 years, tuition has risen by around $100 per credit because, I believe,of the building of a new dormitory. The classrooms are extremely old and are only located in the oldest building on the campus. All of them are in serious need of repair and are extremely cold in the winters. Commuters are blessed to have a free lunch every week and they have a large lounge were they can go and chat or do some work. There are also a few areas on the campus where you can enjoy yourself, such as the basement of the main building which has several pool tables and other games. There are also plenty of activities around the campus to keep you entertained. One thing to be wary of is the clique atmosphere of the school. Students tend to keep to their own groups and it can become very difficult to engage with them. One other issue would be the anti military views that the majority of students seem to have. If you are pro military or ex-military, I would not suggest this school to you. All in all I would suggest that if you are a conservative Christian, or even semi-conservative for that matter, stay away from this college. If money is an issue I would also suggest you look elsewhere for the tuition costs have been raised every semester for the past few years.

They both participated in HLS's SAT Prep classes as well as having received tutoring in various subjects. In fact, my daughter took the SAT prep in the spring and got a 1220 on the SAT in May (680 Reading/Writing, 540 Math). However, she wanted to raise her math score (math isn't her best subject to begin with), so she had three sessions with HLS before the August SAT exam, and she brought her score up by 90 points, to 630! I can't say enough good things about my kids' and my experience with HLS! I highly recommend them.

They email the menu for the week to all the parents. Besides the new owners being great, the place was already stellar. The meals are made on-site by a chef. No chef-boy-r-dee garbage from a can like other places. The food is cooked from scratch and made fresh daily. The kids get great meals everyday. They have the chef come by each classroom once a week and the kids make their own foods as well. This is the meal plan for this Monday as an example Morning snack : rise and shine veggie hash, served with milk and fresh fruit Lunch : beef (or tofu) and broccoli stir fry, served over wild rice Afternoon snack : carrot banana flax muffins, served with veggies and dip The location is right on the highway exit so you can drop off and get directly onto to the highway. Early dropoff @ 7am pickup @5pm no extra charge. They occasionally have date nights so parents can drop off their kids and enjoy a night together (i believe they charge 10 dollars for the evening which is very reasonable) The curriculum is amazing, very focused on the kids learning new things and having a wonder to the process. The teachers all take the time to focus on your child. Teachers know your kid even if they aren't in that teachers class. Learning is very hands on. There is an emphasis on physical activity and the playground is well equipped. We were worried initially but our kid,loved it there and has been there since 1 year old till 4 years old. All the kids are very well mannered and you can see that they are taught to be gracious to each other. Great place, the cost is a bit higher but in line with what you get in return. Teachers that are engaged with your child, fresh nutritious meals, extended hours, daily updates on your phone, web cam to peek I'm on your child in the day, amazing facility, playground and a vested interest in your child's well being. I appreciate the enthusiasm and love the teachers have for the kids, and for the way they are at the children's level involved with their learning and play. It is an intimate place, where you can get to know the families and the children, and where your child can really bond with the teacher and other peers. Great sense of community. The curriculum is rich and diverse, and we have been impressed and surprised at how much came spilling out of our child at unexpected moments. The teachers are remarkable, so nurturing and their love for educating children is very evident. Echoes of God's truth are sprinkled throughout their day there, and I love that they see it evident outside the home too. There is a definite raising up the children to a higher level of expectation, and the kids rise to it. The musical performance they got out of 3 and 4 year olds was amazing!
