We were also picked up at our hotel and were the first ones, so we had a great time getting to know Mike (the Wandering Wino) while we made the drive to get the others. Mike really did make this a great experience for all of us, what a host! Our tour was on Thursday, which we learned was significantly less busy than the weekends. We were picked up around 10am and got back to our hotel close to 4pm and it was an absolutely wonderful day! We were a group of 6 and became fast friends. We had something like 6 tastings at each place, and a discount on what you buy. We ended up leaving with a total of 2 bottles of wine and some marinara sauce. Mike was a blast, each winery was amazing, and our lunch was super tasty! They do this tour in different areas of California and I would love to check those out.

But in all that time had never done a guided winery tour, so when we decided to do one on our one year anniversary, we were recommended Grapeline and we were not disappointed! From the very beginning the person that helped us with our reservation, was helpful, supportive, and flexible, they even picked us up at our winery! Which obviously was a huge plus including dropping us off after the tour! But I have to tell you, our tour guide Liz made the day of wine tasting at 3 different wineries fun, exciting and informative. She was high energy from the minute we stepped on the tour van! (Killer playlist!) And her recommendations for the different wines at each winery were spot on! She has connections at all the wineries too, and we even got an upgrade for a tractor tour that was not part of our original tour at one of the wineries. We toured the vineyards while tasting our wines, and even went to see how the wine was made and fermented. Like I said, I have never done a guided tour but we could not have been more pleased. Its a fun concept; meet at a designated spot, get picked up by a cute bus that has a trolley-like…read moredesign, which then takes you to three different winery's. Debbie was our guide and Kurt was our driver. When you get to the winery, Debbie provides you with a drink card. You get six taste tests (1/3rd of a glass) that is checked off by the wine stewards. The whole adventure takes about 4 hours. Overall, it was fun and a great opportunity to try different wines and see the beautiful wineries in temecula. Now, why the 4 star rating?? ~The bus featured a great sound system where we could choose songs from an ipad. But it was unbelievably warm inside. It was a hot day and the AC seemed to not be working, leaving most of us sticky. We were told to open one window at the front and at the end of the bus to let the air flow. After the first stop, most people just opened all the windows to get a breeze. One guy was close to just taking off his shirt. ~We felt that one of our stops at mount Palomar winery was rushed. Our package did include a charcuterie. And we ordered some other appetizers right when we arrived. We ended up having to cancel them since it still wasnt done and we were heading out. This also led to rushing to get the remaining sample tastes. A reciept check showed it was a 30 min visit. ~My other minor disappointment was that our guide stated they could only take photos through their phone and not our own. But Debbie's photos often came out with this unfocused glare. Rather than something crispy clear. So we took group selfies instead. You might want to take a selfie stick.

I didn't know what to expect, the bus is decorated really nice, the owner and bus driver were very accommodating. I wish there was more interaction on the bus from winery to winery! Although we had our karaoke speaker; it would have been nice for them to incorporate some wine country history along the way. Our lunch experience could have given this a 5 star however we were given box lunches in which most were room temp before they were passed out. My recommendation would be to make sure your guest are situated before stepping away. Overall, we were able to experience three wineries that I would have never chosen and I would revisit two of the three wineries that were on our docket. With that being said we also had a fun! They adapted to our riders on the tour. It was a mix of what we thought were quiet reserved personalities, friends, couples and families. They kept our purchases and personal items safe so we didn't have to carry them around all day. Gathered the forgetful and happy tourist back to bus to keep us on time. The music on trolley had variety of range for everyone. During the trolley tour all had bonded and became very comfortable with each other. On the way back to hotel everyone feeling happy and relaxed enjoyed themselves bobbing our heads and dancing to the mix of music provided. Although I may never see our group. I enjoyed bonding, sharing and learning about their lives if just for that day. We visited three wineries all a different vibe. A beautiful day in Temecula is the way to go and Brian is super positive and communicative. He's a safe driver and guided the whole day with poise. You get six tastings at each winery, which is actually kind of a lot. You feel it by the second stop! As expected, once we got to the third and final winery (Bella Vista) we didn't finish much. Part of that was due to the service being rather slow and not very attentive at the bar tasting. We spent most of our time socializing though so it didn't take much away from the day. However, maybe a recommendation could be to keep the tour to two wineries with more time at each, which may also allow for some additional drive time to really enjoy the atmosphere of the bus. The five hours flew by! And there's something to be said about high energy with music and dancing on the bus after a few tastings LOL. Either way we still had a great experience. Would love to do this tour again another day! To me, it was worth it.
