I've been to the Block a million times but never inside this particular Vans location! I had a mission to get my dude some new sandals since school is almost out & the weather is heating up. I had my eye on a particular pair I saw online, & they had the exact style I wanted! I lingered around a little until one of the associates was available to help me out. He grabbed me the size I was looking for & I was all done within 10 minutes of being there. I wasn't aware they had a skate park inside which is closed because of the pandemic, but they also have a huge display of all sorts of boards for kids & adults. I'm going to have to bring my dude with me next time. Maybe when the pandemic is over or once things are safer I could get him lessons here. This location is wonderful & the people here are chill. I didn't experience any issues, no crowding or anything. I felt safe shopping here & would reccomend driving out to this location instead of ones in surrounding malls. read more

I recently took my son here to get some new shoes. I thought the selection of styles was great, and the staff was really nice. I haven't shopped at a Vans store in such a long time. We were impressed with the huge selection of shoes at this location. My son tried on shoes from both the Classics and Weather Any Weather collections. There's also a wall full of beautiful skateboards and a room with some men's and women's clothing. We didn't have time to check out either section, but we're looking forward to checking out both when we come back. The staff was really helpful here. My son tried on a dozen pairs of shoes, and the salesperson remained friendly. Although he tried on lots of shoes, he only managed to find a pair (or two) in his size. My son and I really like the styles here, and the shoes look really durable. This is a great store for good quality shoes at reasonable prices! read more

First time at this location, my girlfriend and I went in looking for some new kicks. Unfortunately, the customer service we experienced was disappointing. There is a gentleman, Damien who "helped" us out. He seemed annoyed the entire time he engaged with us. As if we were interrupting his conversation with another female employee there. My girlfriend was treated as if she was a burden every time she asked for another shoe to try on. (This is supposed to be a fun experience) At one point he even shrugged his shoulders and replied, "I wouldn't know" after she asked for her size in another shoe. It was such an uncomfortable situation. Yes, we are aware you wouldn't know what sizes you have in stock by memory, sir. She was simply asking for you to check. Since that's your responsibility. There were many models with the sale tags hanging from the display shoes, so i grabbed a couple pairs to purchase. When I went up to check out, the price was different than what was ringing up. So I went to grab the display there two of the same shoe with the same sale sign. I went back and the cashier said nope that was an error and the correct price is at the bottom of the shoe. I explained that if I see a price hanging from the shoe that's what I expect to pay. Not to mention there are two different prices on the bottom of the shoe. He refused to give me the sale price displayed on the tag. I could understand if this was an error on one shoe but there were multiple Sk8-Hi models with this tag. This store is great!! I took my little brother to another store in the outlets but couldn't find him a skateboard deck that he wanted. The Van store was our next stop. The selection for decks and anything skating is great. ALISHIA S. did an AMAZING JOB helping us out. My little brother is very picky but ALISHIA took her time and was very patient in showing him all the boards he wanted to see. She didn't seem annoyed or in a rush to hurry us up. I was originally only going to buy a deck but her salesmanship really came out and I ended up buying my little brother a full complete board!!! I spent a little over $130. I would have never boughten my little brother such an expensive deck if it wasn't for her expertise and it was really reassuring since she knew what she was talking about. ALISHIA made sure I knew about all the promotions happenin, got my $30 dollars off and she even signed me up to the stores rewards points system. THANK YOU ALISHIA for being someone who likes their job and is really good at it. The store is very friendly and very clean. However, I noticed that they've updated the shoes with more typically-athletic style shoes, so I took a look at some, thinking that they might not hurt my feet the way the current couple of pairs do. Over the summer I had signed my 8 year old, at the time, up for their week long skate camp. He had about a year of neighborhood skating experience before the camp and had attended an Etnies skate camp in Lake Forest. He was comfortable on a skate board but I still emphasized to the staff that he was a beginner and would benefit from going over the basics. On the second day at camp I got a phone call telling me I needed to come pick up my son. Over the phone they told me he rolled his ankle and he wouldn't stop crying. I asked them what happened and they told me he took a tumble but they didn't think anything was broken. So this means that no one was supervising the half pipe and no one saw what actually happened. I drove to pick him up and he was visibly upset and in pain. I asked him if he could walk but he said he couldn't. The staff had my son sitting in a office chair and rolled him out on that! Every crack and bump we rolled over (getting to the parking lot) my son cried out in pain. At this point I was still hoping my 8 year old was being dramatic but things weren't looking very good. I managed to get my son into the car with a lot of tears and screaming. On the drive to the emergency department he started going into shock which was terrifying. While waiting in the emergency department the staff noticed he was going in and out of consciousness so they took him back immediately for x rays. He had a spiral fracture on both bones in his lower left leg. By the way- when I was picking my son up the staff didn't really seem concerned about him. They only wanted to make sure I signed and initialed their waiver. It's ridiculous how there was little to no supervision during the camp, and I find it appalling that they didn't have any emergency plan in place. It's a skate park and people are going to get injured and break their bones. I completely understand. However, it should have been common sense to have a plan for situations like this, or at the very least a wheel chair. If you're contemplating sending your kiddos to the skate camp here DO NOT do it unless they are more experienced or you are personally supervising them. read more

Unexpected FANTASTIC customer service. These may be kids working here, but their attention & helpfulness is astounding. Came in with my daughter to replace her dearly-loved worn-to-the-toes Hello Kitty Vans. I am guilty of the preconceived notion that the kids working here would be skaters, of a certain 'mindset' - received a few too many concussions, leaving them loopy-headed. Man, was I WROOOOOOONG. I'd swear that everyone working there today approached me & my 7-year-old, smiling as they neared & asking if we've been helped. Big props to Melissa, who empathized with my daughter, pointing out her own snaggy shoes. :-) She just made an instant BFF with a second-grader. Melissa measured my daughter's foot & ran back to get a few sizes. Too big. She ran back to get another two sizes. Still too big. She ran back again...perfect size. As my princess was walking around in her new kicks, I perused the socks. Melissa pointed out that the 3-pack was a better deal than a single pair. And there's a Hello Kitty 3-pack...SOLD! Vans was a great experience today while looking for a new comfortable shoe I can get for work. I found these all black running material vans that were awesome looking. I told the vans worker Dinh who was down to earth, was engaging, and had strong interpersonal communication skills. He helped me with the different sizes since my feet range from a 8.5-9. He was patient with me as I tried different colors and different types of vans. After I found the right sized shoe and design he laced the shoes up and properly organized the shoe and put it back in the box for me. Dinh continued with great service and said he can ring us up whenever we were ready. Since we were ready right away he guided us promptly and rang us up in no time. Vans at the Block has a variety of different styled vans, the clothing is well organized, and the boards/skating materials are also well organized for viewing. I dislike posting negative feed back on businesses but this evening I had a really bad experience at Vans. Mackenzie, I think that was her name. I had walked over from selecting some new shoes to the men's apparel section. If I may add the gentleman that assisted me was courteous and efficient. Kinda handsome hehe. I just was just minding my business trying to catch a good vibe from the clothes see what caught my eye. My younger friend was tagging along putting up with my shopping addiction lol. At this point this tired looking woman/girl approached me aggressively asking if I needed help and right away reached for my shoe box. I was perplexed as to what do haha. Straight caught me off guard! I handed her the shoe box and continued to shop. I started to get looked at like a was doing something illegal from other costumers. So embarrassed! I played it cool and kept shopping. I grabbed a hoody and got in line. With the way the line went I ended up with Mackenzie at the register. I said hello and good evening and started the transaction. She did her best to be polite and pleasant to me and my friend. Still did not get a good evening or hello. I ask if I could get my shoes and she did. I told her I told her I appreciate it her attentiveness. She felt that I knew she was out of line for what she did and blurred out " I'm just doing my job " which solidified what I had felt and encountered. I do have to call them out for some issues though. When I went to go pay, there was no one at registers. This happens, but it was almost a 10 minute wait until someone showed up to ring up my purchase. Talk about making things ridiculous. *SMH* None the less I at least got decent service when trying on shoes. They also had a discount on your next purchase that came with this purchase... none the less, I wasnt going to be buying another pair of shoes for a bit so ohhhh well... One of the last pay to ride skateparks in California. With all the free city parks around its hard for these places to get enough business. The free parks are often full of rough kids smoking and drinking, crazy ass BMXers that will run you over, and no supervision. The paid parks are usually friendlier places to hang and they have separate sessions for bikes so you won't get your ass run over. The age range at Vans is pretty cool I've seen little kids here like 8 years old and grown me and women in their 50s. The average age is probably 18 though. read more

It is one of the last pay-to-ride skateparks left, but it's worth it. I really liked the selection of shoe styles for everyone. However, I felt as though I was bothering the sales associates in the shoe section. One of them was a young girl who totally paid no mind to my son and I even as we were standing right near her and it's not like she couldn't have noticed us. It was not busy at all, so that's no excuse. And when I did have to literally walk up to her and ask for a size for my son she seemed as though we were bugging her. But she was very attentive to the only other customers in the section which was a couple who had a toddler.
