La Piparra was serving traditional Spanish food with vegan/ vegetarian options. My meal here included a tortilla Española vegana with zucchini and red pimento peppers, migas con chorizo vegano, and another delicious veggie take on pickled boquerones made with pickled zucchini squash, all of course served with fresh bread. For dessert: a baked vegan cheesecake. This was such a fun and delicious meal. All spanish here, no english-- at least when I was here in July 2023 in the old location in Zaragoza. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! An Evie favorite!

Warning: the food takes a loooooong time so don't wait until you're too hungry before you come…read more The good news is there is free WiFi and a bookshelf of books to keep you busy while you wait for your food. The menu is only in Spanish, but they use typical ingredients so it's fairly easy to read and understand. The prices are very reasonable. Don't get your heart set on ordering something you saw on their Instagram, because those are all daily specials. (I'm talking to myself here) They don't bring you water until you've been waiting quite awhile, so if you want water right away, make sure you specifically request it. They serve beer and wine, espresso drinks, and sodas. There are coat racks, and the bathrooms are clean and well-stocked. Another warning: the light in the bathroom turns off before you're finished, so you might be peeing and trying to find toilet paper in the dark. Soooo that's a fun adventure.

I wish I could've stayed and enjoyed the ambience longer, but they were closing when I arrived so I had to order and run. I'm hoping it was the we're-about-to-close-for-the-afternoon panic that caused the staff's rudeness, so that nobody else has to experience being treated like a child when they go there. But I didn't let it get me down, because VEGAN DESSERTS! There was a good variety of vegan things: 1-2 cookies, a cake, and a cupcake. I of course ordered one of each because I'm kind of (okay fine, completely and totally) a sweets addict. The cookie was chocolate with chocolate chips, and sadly it tasted a bit too healthy for my taste. I'm not into places that offer a vegan option that's always void of salt or sugar or anything delicious because they think vegans just eat celery. The cookie was too hard, dry, and not sweet enough. The cupcake was a carrot cupcake, which is one of my favorite flavors! Sadly, it tasted hard and dry. It tasted the way my cupcakes taste after 3 days of sitting out. When I go to a grocery store, I expect to maybe not get the freshest baked goods, but this was a bakery! They specialize in baked goods! Why would they sell us something that was 3 days old without a warning? And not only that, but they tried to upsell us a second one! We ordered only one, because we were already ordering numerous other things, and the guy told us that he had another one if we wanted it. He was trying to get us to buy not one, but 2 of his 3-day old cupcakes at full-price! WTF! I haven't tried the third item yet which is an apple tart, but honestly, I don't really have high hopes. If you're looking for a dry stale baked good that you can dip in coffee or tea, then this place is for you. If you're looking for quality vegan baked goods, keep looking.

This is a lovely vegetarian restaurant! I came here for lunch with my Spanish language school…read more There were about 10 of us. They also have an english menu available, if you like. We had the set lunch. You could order the short or long set lunch, and most of us got the short one which included an appetizer, a main and a drink. The long set menu included dessert. There were several choices for the both the appetizer and main and everyone was really pleased with their dishes! I loved my dish. I got an eggplant dish which was rolled up with mushrooms inside, baked in cheese. It was awesome. Drinks choices included wine if you like (typical in Spain, so that's cool). I happily had some white wine with my lunch and most of our table enjoyed the red. They bring over the whole bottle! Only two of us had the white, and we still got the bottle to share. The ambiance and decor in here is really cool too, and the servers were really nice. I'm not currently a vegetarian and I really enjoyed this restaurant! I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone, but if you're a vegetarian, this restaurant is a must in Zaragoza! It's hip, cute and tasty!
