I had an appointment in May 21' where he inspected my left foot and determined my issue is Plantars Fasciitis. He wrote me a script for comfortable running shoes and made me a temporary tape and pad arch support. He also recommended he make a custom orthotic insole that unfortunately would cost me $1000 due to my insurance not covering it. He also wrote me a script for therapy. I refused the therapy as you can get most of the exercises from YouTube. All this came out to $515($348 w/insurance) when my insurance estimated around $80 for a visit. The visit was about 40 minutes. I didn't know doctors made $772 an hour. There were no codes or descriptions of services rendered on the bill. So how I see it is I paid $348 OOP for an exam and some padding and tape as a temporary arch support. I did get the running shoes,that are extremely comfortable,and went online to buy arch supports and insoles. These purchases are the only things I've used and they cost me around $200. The doctor mentioned nothing about staying off my feet but I found online that this is the best fix and could take a couple months to heal. Unfortunately I had to take off work for a month and now I feel I can get back to work. Also, for the last 1 1/2 weeks I've been trying to get a copy of my medical records. When they someone ACTUALLY ANSWERED my repeated phone calls and emails they told me it could take 2-3 weeks to get. After hounding them I got them in about 4 days. The records were in doctor language and I have been wanting a lamens version of my condition(Plantars Fasciitis)I have been calling with no answers and emailing to get this for a week now. Today I finally got a hold of the receptionist. She was giving me information but before she told me how to get something like what I requested she said she would call me back. This was at 3:40. I waited 30 minutes then called back 3 times getting the o so informative "We are either on the phone or assisting patients at this time" not "our office is closed" making me call back like an idiot multiple times. I checked the hours online to make sure to get someone and nothing. In one of the emails the rep explained that they were only in until around 1 on Wed though the website said 3. Regardless, I had been calling and emailing since 9 that morning and got nothing. I have to end this rant because I have to make my 5th call the them. It's 5:18 and online it says open till 7. Wish me luck? Oh I forgot!! If you're under 50(I'd say) expect him to work a lot of curse words into the conversation as if you were a college or high school buddy. read more

my daughter went to him few years ago and she was 12 years old and he did a ankle surgery and messed up badly i will not not be coming back and will not recommended it. i think he messed up on purpose so he can get money for busy this is not okay if this is the case, my daughter has a future and wanted to do ballet and cheer and now she can't right now because she has more surgeries in the future. I am suing just to let you know this is a disgrace why he did this and to other people what a jerk. read more

Doctor Vekkos was very thorough and explained my injury to me in a way that was easy to understand. Doctor Vekkos has done surgery on both of my feet. I had a bunionectomy with Dr. Vekkos and a very poor outcome. The metatarsal broke during the inserting of the screw during surgery, and I had to have larger screws inserted and be immobilized for a very long period. I then began experiencing nerve pain in my foot a few months later, and it has been really awful. I have spent the last few years trying to find a solution, and have been to dozens of doctors. I am definitely much worse off than I was before surgery. He is a very nice and caring man, but I have had a terrible experience. For a surgery, I have heard one should go to an MD who has gone to medical school, rather than a podiatrist. read more

I have been going to see Dr. Vekkos for the past 22 years for any foot or ankle issue. His staff is beyond friendly and accommodating. Dr. Vekkos has a wonderful bedside manner and he genuinely cares about his patients. Both of my children played sports and have had sports related injuries and Dr. Vekkos has taken excellent care of them. I couldn't be happier with Dr. Vekkos and his staff. When you first walk in you are greeted with a smiling face every single time. Kathy is very sweet and tries her very best to accommodate you in every way. The entire staff is very professional and kind. The office is sparkling clean. Aside from that, Dr. Vekkos recommended a round of laser therapy, which has taken my pain level from a 7 to a 0 in three weeks. I would highly recommend Dr. Vekkos to everyone!! read more

You disagree because all you had was a shot! Yes, the office staff is delightful but Dr. Vekkos is so distracted by His own charm and His multiple worshiping interns that he forgot that I was in the hospital. He had asked me to come to his office to get a cast when I had to remind Him that I was still recovering from his bunion surgery the day before! I had lack luster experience with another podiatrist's bunion surgery but after two additional surgeries from Dr. Vekkos, the first podiatrist wasn't so bad. Dr. V's first surgery (my second) on my foot was so bad that after a year's worth of pain and physical therapy, I was forced to have Dr. V. operate again to correct His first awful surgery. Although His second surgery (my third) gave me some relief, after much physical therapy again, I am still riddled with pain every day and with every step. I have at least 500 times more pain than I had walking into his office. Can you even image how much pain I was in before His correction? I really regret having walked into His office. Had He done the right thing and continued to care for me without charging me for my small amount of patient share, I would not be writing this. But since I am still in pain and consider myself so crippled that I cannot even walk my dog around the block, I feel compelled to write this review. I cannot believe the greed and the gull to charge a patient that He has made worse off. Beware, He thinks himself superior and can fix anything when in reality he just wants to cut and charge. With the distracted and inconsistent care, it is no wonder that the outcome is so terrible. Thanks for ruining my foot and taking the joy out of my life because I can no longer do the two activities I enjoyed the most, dancing and taking my dog on long walks. read more

After 7 years of being his patient, I made the error of asking for my one pair of orthodics to be re-covered. Apparently that's a job for the lab, so three weeks later, the lab returns my orthodics totally changed. Instead of sending them back to right the wrong, Vekkos--overconfident in his abilities--is going to fix them himself. All he did was burn the top to try and make impressions. I waited 5 months for these re-covered orthodics. I gave Vekkos so much patience because that one pair was very good. Sadly, now they are ruined. A previous pair he had thrown out due to health reasons, I did not pick them up immediately. After not having my orthodics on a trip (the reason they were being recovered), I returned home with feet swollen, blistered, and one toe with the skin ripped off (from a bandage). Would they see me for treatment--no. Seriously?! So, I had multiple treatments with an urgent care center. Calling, emailing various office staff, plus Vekkos this last month yielded nothing. He finally put the "blame" on me--that I couldn't be happy. Yes, my feet are ultra sensitive--but one would think a podiatrist can deal with patients with special needs. To not respond to a patient at all is the height of unprofessionalism. read more

After years of seeking treatment for our daughter's bad feet, we finally found a doctor who had the experience to successfully treat her. Due to the severity, our daughter had difficulty wearing any type of shoes. After multiple surgeries and extensive therapy, her feet are straight and her pain is minimal. I am a new patient with Dr. Vekkos and I have had an impressive experience thus far. I felt the Dr. Vekkos and his staff handled my issues with professionalism and genuine concern. They were thorough, taking the time to understand my concerns and goals and developed a treatment plan to best address my needs. As an athletic, active person, this is quite important to me. I have a painful bunion and went in to discuss my options. All he wanted to do was to get me to have surgery in his office as soon as possible. I asked about other treatments such as orthotic arch support or cortisone injections, but he seemed only interested in getting me in the operating room. That scared me and I thought that if he only cared to do surgery on me, then how would he be afterward. I took a pass and went to another podiatrist in the area who told me that I may eventually need surgery, but was willing to try alternative care first. Dr. Vekos seems nice enough, but just beware that he mostly wants to do surgery first. read more

I would have to totally disagree with the other reviewer. I saw Dr. Vekkos several years ago for heel pain and was helped on my very first visit with the pain with cortisone, followed up by orthotics. Several years later I dealt with an injury to my foot. We tried several non-invasive approaches before needing to resort to surgery. Dr. Vekkos has been great, is incredibly knowledgeable, personable and his staff is amazing. I would highly recommend him for any foot/ankle problems. read more
