I am the only small boat on a jetski dock, Chris is ALWAYS ensuring I am satisfied with my service at Open Bay. I have never ever felt like a customer here. He truly has his marina members best interests at heart. If I even think my motor is running rough, I hardly have to mention it. All of the other marinas in the area are truly a waste of time. This is a quiet well maintained family owned Marina right in Manhasset Bay. The Mechanic and Manager has been there a very long time and is excellent. While he is fairly young he has the skills of Mechanics of old, who can build parts, redesign boat manufacturers mistakes if required. He can goes way beyond just the engine and transmission on repairs of any sought on all boats. The owners are always on the premises for service and needs as required, The docks are very secure and the Marina is in a very safe area, when storms occur. Parking is close to the ramps and available 99 % of the time, I have been in the same slip for 30 years with two different boats and never found a reason to change and haven't had any incidents in all that time. Toms Point doesn't have a Restaurant but in walking distance there plenty of different type Restaurants, fast food, gourmet,super markets, Pizza places and on and on. So if someone is looking for a slip in Manhasset Bay I would recommend this Marina a place a calm spot with friendly management as well as friendly boaters. B.C

I recently acquired a Catalina 25, and was moving it from Bellmore to his marina earlier this week…read more (Unbeknownst to me, the boat had some engine issues and was covered in three years of barnacles.) It was slow going and we were very late showing up to Matt's Marina. Not only were they so nice to me when my plans kept changing, but were accommodating when I showed up late and a bit frazzled from having such a tough boat move. The guys there helped 1) securely store my sailboat on their limited open dock space overnight and 2) take it out of the water first thing the next day. They reported back on the condition of the boat and necessary repairs before they got started with anything. They did hours upon HOURS of MASSIVE barnacle removal, which is a thankless and dirty job, all so I can move my boat to it's North Shore location later this week. They even did a walk-through and reviewed the condition of the hull with me after the barnacles were off and it was fully power-washed, pointing out the next steps for repairs and how to best handle it. These are some REALLY good people on the South Shore, and I would recommend them to anyone. Great crew, nice guys, and have a sense of humor if you're like me and have no idea what you're doing. It's all a learning experience. Thank you guys for being so cool and helping a girl out!

I dropped a small outboard for repair and told Pat the manager that I needed it back within ten…read moredays due to a planned trip. He assured me that he could evaluate and repair it within that period. When I called him back within a couple of days he was quite nasty and said that if I was impatient I could come and get the engine. I decided to wait. After eight days I returned to the yard and found the engine in the same place that I left it. It had not been touched. When I spoke to Pat again he said that he told me that he could not look at it for at least two weeks, a flat out lie. I am not unhappy to have returned and I did take the engine back. I feel that if he so blatantly lied to me about the repair he was not trustworthy and a person I was best not dealing with.

I…read morerecently gassed up a usual and the bill was about $180.00 I gave the Dock hand my credit and noticed an additional fee. Well it is the law passed by Cuomo whereby business can add the Credit card fee onto the customers charge card. I have experienced this in very few places and those that I frequent I mention I don't like it, don't punish me in your fight with credit card companies. I will not be using Manhasset Bay for gas in the future and I don't want to remember to have tons of cash in my pocket so I can avoid these charges. When I get small charge's in various business's I use cash but large purchases it is a pain, you have zero record and protection. The business's who add the charge are not doing anything wrong, it is a business decision and fair, but we don't have to accept it and can turn the dial. Nothing against Manhasset Bay they are doing what they feel necessary to stay in business and turn a profit.
