Their card is attached. I had no room for the basque cheese cake, which looked delicious but was simply too big for me. Fancy. Many varieties of food, sugar cane being juiced with a roller machine to order, music, sugar painting and on and on. DJs, lights, the city.... It…read morewas an expensive afternoon at about $75 for six tickets that could be exchanged for tasting plates from their lengthy list of restaurant vendors. Each booth had its dish prominently displayed so that attendees could decide if they were ticket-worthy. There were definitely some inconsistencies in terms of the portion sizes, as some were much more substantial than others, so you really needed to be selective. The street festival spanned several blocks and got rather crowded as the event crossed over from the morning (started at 11:30 am) into the afternoon hours (ended at 3:00 pm). It would have been great if they had more entertainment or a beer garden for the adults, but most of the fun was for children, causing us to eat through (pun intended) our tickets in about an hour and a half and leaving us with nothing to do. We did not want to buy another entire round of six tickets, and they were not sold individually, so we wound up leaving early. However, despite all of that, we loved being able to choose the plates that most appealed to us and had fun doing just that. My favorite dishes were the Watermelon Salad from Paros, the Carnitas Tacos from Casa Carmen, and the Chocolate Caviar from Huso and Marky's. There were so many amazing restaurants in attendance that I had been meaning to try, and the event gave me a glimpse into their menu offerings. Plus, it had been a beautiful day weatherwise. All in all, it made for an adventurous day.

The weather was clear and gorgeous and we had no problems finding the millions of little tents in the heart of TriBeCa. You could literally follow your nose to the smell of delicious food wafting in the spring breeze. After being confused for an actual Yelp employee (I mean, just look at what I was wearing!) , we received our Yelp tickets. Now since there were tons of tents to go through and we only got 6 tastings each, my friend and I decided to walk around a little to help us decide what we wanted to start with. Within minutes, our noses took us over to the Acappella stand where the main chef was preparing Porcini Agnolotti. The smell was intoxicating and I immediately began to drool. The Agnolotti was perfectly cooked in a delicious cream and red wine reduction sauce. I had a feeling that this would probably be my favorite of the afternoon as I am a pasta freak but was even more excited to try more stands. After perusing the Taste of TriBeCa map, we decided that the next thing we wanted to try were the Duck Meatballs at Locanda Verde. I love meatballs. I love duck. The two combined seemed like a genius invention. Now the meatballs weren't huge, but what they lacked in size they made up for in mighty meaty flavor. The duck was so sweet and flavorful and I contemplated stealing another one from them with my toothpick. Right across from Locanda Verde was the Greenwich Grill stand serving up some Wagyu Beef Teriyaki Burgers that just smelled heavenly. I was highly surprised that we would be able to sample Wagyu beef as it is arguably the finest beef in the world due to its marbling characteristics and unsaturated fat content. The little burger was hard to maneuver (I almost dropped it twice) but tasted out of this world especially with the homemade Teriyaki glaze that it was coated with. After developing a mini food coma, we decided to take a little break from eating by sitting in the shade and watching the lively band perform blue grass tunes. I must say that this event was great for people watching as well as gaining new ideas for summer outfits. After a good twenty minutes of listening to the band we decided to get up and head to the next stand on our list. Now Landmarc is one of my favorite restaurants that I frequent quite often at Colombus Circle so I was quite happy to see they had a stand set up since there is also a Landmarc in TriBeCa. At first glance, I thought they were offering little parfait cups. On closer inspection, I realized they were serving us beautiful salads with red and golden beets, mint, and goat cheese layered in individual cups. They definitely won the award for best presentation. The guys working the stand were such sweethearts. Once we started talking about my love of Marc Murphy's cooking, they gave me a salad on the house. Score! Surprise suprise, I was craving pasta again so we decided to stop by ROC's stand to try some of their Spring Vegetable Lasagna. This was actually quite one of the best vegetable lasagnas I've ever had. The sauce was a rich cheese, cream and ricotta mixture with yummy veggies interlaced throughout. I loved how they topped it off with freshly grated Parmigiano Reggiano cheese. Major points in my Italian book. After this, the sweet tooth started kicking in so we decided to head to the Duane Park Patisserie stand to indulge in some mighty fine looking chocolate molten cakes. The gentleman running the stand was a huge fan of Yelp and wanted to be in the photograph haha. Although I wouldn't classify this as a traditional molten cake since the sauce was on the outside, it was ridiculously rich and thick. I wish they had given us some milk to wash it down with but we made do with cold water. Milk of course would have been the better option. Since we had just eaten something hot and sweet, we decided to go with something cold and sweet to help us cope with the blazing sun. My friend and I headed to City Hall Restaurant to try some of their fresh fruit sorbets which had a very long line. Now I can see why! After asking for a double serving of the Blood Orange Sorbet, I was licking the bowl clean of this cool and creamy concoction. I am loving the blood orange obsession right now. So I was kind of full (ok REALLY full) by this point but I had one ticket left. Guess what? We decided to back to Acappella's and have those Porcini Agnolotti one last time! Seriously, scrumptious stuff. The chef loved us for coming back and gave us three agnolotti as opposed to two. That's what I call customer rewards! Overall, the Taste of TriBeCa provided a fabulous experience for myself and my friend- we wouldn't have wanted to spend our Saturday any other way! Thank you Yelp for hooking us up with tickets. I can't wait to come back next year to see what the chefs of TriBeCa have in store for us once more.

Just like Cranford, I've also been to the fairs in Westfield ever since I was a kid. I've enjoyed…read morethe kid-friendly activities when I was much younger, but now I have to enjoy the event like an adult. The fairs in this town have never disappointed me, and it's still just as good as before. I also never had an issue with parking for the fair, which was a huge plus. This fair was located in the heart of downtown Westfield. Numerous tents set up by vendors were everywhere, selling various items from arts and crafts and sports memorabilia to home improvement and pet-sitting services. Non-profit organizations were also there to collect donations. A stage was also set up for local music performances and karate demonstrations. Let's not forget about the food vendors. Not only were there vendors in tents, but there were also those set up in their own food trucks. Various food items were sold at this event. Items such as gyros, fried Oreos, funnel cakes, and fried chicken were available from those vendors to the people who waited in long lines. Fresh squeezed lemonade and ICEEs were sold there too. The fact that I didn't smell oil used for frying from the vendors was a HUGE plus. Some businesses had also set up their own tents in front of their stores so they could sell some of their merchandise. That merchandise ranged from shoes to clothing. Nothing from there appealed to me, but it was nice to see what was on display. Those businesses picked a good day and time to set up an outdoor sale in front of their shops. How can you not love free samples? Bovella's Bake Shoppe was outside of their own store and gave away free samples of their cake. It was delicious! Also, 92.3 AMP FM was there and gave away free packets of FruitVines Bites Cherry-Flavored Candy. That was also good. Overall, these fairs are always as good as it gets!

Attending the 2015 thanks to scoring a couple of free passes through Yelp (Thank you Drew and…read moreYelp!) was a great opportunity to sample what Long Island and the Northeast has to offer since the event had many breweries from these areas. We arrived for the second session (5:30pm start) at around 5:45pm and the line was moving quickly as they were checking bags and IDs. We received our tasting cups and we were on our way. Belmont is great space for this event with the vendors being laid out nicely and also, more importantly, plenty o' bathrooms! The signs say the 2oz pours are strictly enforced, but honestly it is not a big deal. There are so many samples to be had that a 2oz pour from all of them would probably give most people alcohol poisoning! There are a lot of great beers to sample here! I am not going to point out the beers I didn't like, but I will say in general there were a lot of flabby, overdone IPAs, which seems all breweries trying to stay on trend, but I prefer to see less common and different brews offered. I found a couple of aged in barrels brews interesting - One from Two Roads, out of CT, offered Contucky Lightnin', a sour mash ale aged in bourbon barrels, to impart a whiskey feel and complexity. From Scotland, Innis and Gunn had oak aged beer that went for a similar finish of smoothness along with vanilla, toffee and of course, oak. I appreciated what they were trying to do and the complexity of their lush samples. Handgrenades Homebrew Club, an amalgam of different home brew enthusiasts had some great samples on offer (I saw 8, I think), my favorite being "Uncle Joes Breakfast Stout" - A coffee stout: two great flavors that work amazing together. It would make for a perfect start of the day. Speaking of stouts, I found Bluepoint's Armchair to be the best milk stout I tried at the event - creamy, balanced and perfect flavor. Crooked Ladder from Riverhead, had a delicious Gypsy Red ale, although unfortunately named for the politically correct crowd. Spiked Seltzer had a low carb, 6%ABV flavored seltzer, which was interesting and helped to refresh my palate. I LOVE a RYE beer, but I found most vendors doing a RYE IPA, which did not work for me. I feel they just did not come together with the typical IPA flavor overpowering. Which leads me to my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE of the night, which was from SAND CITY BREWING CO. out of Northport. A small operation, whose brews are offered at their tasting room and a few local north shore restaurants. They had an AMAZING Rye pale ale called "Ryes N Tide" - I could have drank this all night long (I did try and they were amazingly generous with 3 samples for me!) the pale ale allows the flavor that rye provides to shine. Completely drinkable and refreshing. I have to get there and hope they have it on offer when I do! A couple of caveats: Eat before the event here since the food offerings are typical Belmont vendors (It would be nice to see some local food stands participate here). Also some of the smaller vendors ran out of brew half way through the 2nd session so if you are dead set on trying everything perhaps come down for the 1st and early session. As with any event with alcohol involved the night got sloppy as it went on, but most people were very cool. Excellent event, great venue, amazing beers, cool activities happening through out - This expo is well worth it! You will get access to so many vendor offerings that you will be sure to up your beer drinking knowledge!

The venue had about 30 or so breweries spread out in the back grandstand of Belmont Park; a very comfortable setting. Now let me get this out of the way; it was cold. It was North Pole cold. There I said it. The venue is a summer racetrack with lots and lots of doors to one of the better looking tracks in America; only Hollywood Park, Churchill Downs and Saratoga are more majestic. It is not made for fall or winter events. My wife and I made the best of the situation. We figured drink beer fast warm up. It work for a while, but still cold. We needed a "White Knight" to rescue this chilling experience. Low and behold there on the other side of the venue was Drew and The Yelp Team. Yay. Hooray we are save. The Yelp Team as always was ready with their goodies. Mini pretzels (yum) and texting gloves. Yes gloves. I must say that if one person came up to me, 20 people came up and said "dude where did you get those gloves". The wonderful pair of gloves were our life savior and allow us to continue on our quest of "beer consumption". Thank you Drew and Yelp Team. Now to the business of beer. I found the beer selection to be broken down to Long Island and New York State beers; popular brands and the International beers. While it was not a huge selection it had enough variety to satisfy any beer fan with multiply 2 oz samples. The popular brands where: Amstel, Heineken, Presidente, Modelo, Pacifico, Blue Moon, Dos Equis, Sapporo and a couple of others which slip my mind. The International brands where these I just mention and a few others that also slip my mind. I guess to many 2 oz pours. Now my favorites: Long Island beers. Over the summer, I had the opportunity to visit some of these breweries and I found them all to have a tasty product and awesome representation at their location. Port Jefferson Brewery had an IPA and an ALE that I really enjoyed. Both where tasty and I am sure that if you had a taste, you would be a fan, like me. The Pumpkin Seasonal, while others go crazy for this, me, I just pass. Not a fan of any Pumpkin Seasonal beers. The stout that they released at 2:30 PM for tasting, just did not cut it for me. I can't put my finger on it, maybe a little on the warm side or just not there. Sorry. Long Ireland Brewery was probably my favorite. All good and tasty. I had multiple samples here; IPA, Lager all good. Tasty. The Stout that was featured at 1:30 PM was delicious. Nice body with some chocolate tones at the finish. Very nice. I think these guys are doing something good here. Yay. I am not a fan of hard cider, but I had a hard cider from "Angry Orchard Hard Cider" that was delicious. Lots of apple flavor in the finish. Refreshing. Overall, excellent event. If you could move beyond the cold, it was a well run event. Lots of room and many tasty beers. While I would of like a more interactive experience with the staff of the brewery; it was not the end of the world that it did not happen. The crowd was well behaved with lots of security. No issues here. I then to go to these events a couple of times a year and I know what to expect. The International Great Beer Expo did not disappoint me at all. Ticket pickup in front of Cent'Anni was easy once I knew where to go, and I found it so helpful that there was a map and list of what each spot was offering. That list was useful in planning what I wanted to try. In the future, I'd recommend that the event hosts try to confirm these listings with participating restaurants a bit closer to the event date, because some of them were inaccurate. One place listed as offering "sliders" served only a single (scrumptious) slider, and another spot listed as offering a "choice of two tacos or a margarita" informed me when I arrived that they weren't offering the margarita after all. I thought the offerings were pretty fair, just wish the list had been a bit more accurate. While I wouldn't recommend Tastes of Brooklyn to someone looking for a "good deal", it wasn't a bad way to share a walk and various foods with a friend while supporting Seeds in the Middle.

She gobbled down the entire slice which was probably her first pizza till date.. There was face painting by Sephora and they were doing a brilliant job, of course..there was a big line waiting ahead of us and I steered my daughter towards other things.They had some great live music too..It seemed a great fun event and it was a real bummer that we didn't get a chance to experience the festival completely.This was their first year and hopefully the tradition will continue cause i definitely cant wait to go there again next year

when my friend first told me that it was $50... I was like HECK NO. I'm a poor student trying to…read morespread $50 over a week. However... it was one of the best uses of $50 of my life. So many restaurants featured their dishes here. I won't go through and list all of them here, but as soon as I walked in, the first bite was a curried scallop and it was perfect. The night just continued with so much great food and we also got a lot of free stuff. Some foods weren't that great; however, there were like 30 different restaurants so if you don't like a few that's fine. I would definitely go again. Make sure you go when you are hungry, because you will be stuffed.
