I don't know why the yelp reviews for this place is so high, friends and family maybe? I went in to get a battery fixed and I see that most of the people on yelp were getting charged $5 but they charged me $15. Since it was a Sunday afternoon and I couldn't find any other watch store that was open I sucked it up and agreed and didn't argue. Then they took it back and recommended that I do a cleaning. Again fair enough since I hadn't had it cleaned in a long time. They said it'd be $50 and I could come back the next day to pick up. I'm not sure why I agreed but I did. The woman wasn't particularly nice or convincing but I just didn't want to drive around finding another place and this one had good reviews. I came to pick the watch up the next day, excited to finally have a clean "new" watch. To my horror when she pulled out the watch it was filthier than ever. I mean, there's serious grit between the chains, some of which weren't there before, most of it was but clearly it had never been cleaned!!! I got mad and brought this up and she said if I wanted it really clean I should have paid more than $50. ???????? I'm still not entirely sure what they did with my $50 cleaning, maybe they forgot and were to embarrassed to tell me? She won't discount the price or refund me so I might have to go through my cc company. I showed the watch to many of my friends and they said that the job they did is laughable. I went in to get my watch battery replaced. I called ahead of time and they told me to come on in and that they would do it on the spot. There was street metered parking near by if that's a concern. They also sell jewelry and random judaica items. They need to improve on their presentation- should be less cluttered in there. Overall was fine with the service. read more

Horrible place. I was given a price for some costume jewelry repair (after haggling with the owner), I thought it was too much and walked out. She followed me out and offered to do the work for $36. I agreed, she wrote the price down on the envelope, and I left. When I went to fetch the jewelry she said it would be $56. I insisted I had been told $36. When I came to my office and opened a box to check the watch I saw 3 HUGE SCRATCHES on the back of the watch from the opening tool!!! I purchased a brand new stainless steel watch and I needed a couple of links removed. They removed them in less than 10 minutes and charged me $6! Not only was Mitra, the owner's daughter (I think) wonderfully kind and informative, the entire family was there and they are just as welcoming! I favor supporting family owned/operated businesses and I will definitely return and refer business here. In reference to the review about $8 to change a battery, that's rather inexpensive because they're giving you a new battery as well as installing it. I went to a place downtown that charged $10 for the same thing, so smile at $8. This review is based on my one experience at this shop. I've probably walked by this place hundreds of times over the years and never really noticed it. Well, my watch stopped working and I guessed it was the battery, so looked up "watch repair" on good old Yelp and this place came up. All I really have to say is, I walked in (or rather was buzzed in, as the front door is kept locked), handed the watch to the shopkeeper and told him it's dead, probably the battery. Stopped by to replace the batteries in two watches. While I waited, a woman came in to pick up two necklaces that she'd had repaired. The store owner tried to charge her about $12 more than the price she'd apparently originally quoted. The customer protested, and the owner immediately backed off, but made it clear that she was doing the customer a *huge* favor by giving her the original price. I didn't think much of it--maybe the repair was more complicated than they had originally thought, maybe the customer didn't remember the original quote correctly. Ten minutes later, the owner comes back out with one of my watches. $10 to replace the battery on this one, but the other one was in the back getting a "special cleaning" and that was going to cost me $25. When I told her I wasn't interested in a special cleaning, and that I wasn't going to pay for an extra service they provided without consulting me first, again, she immediately backed off and just charged me $25 for both watches. I did get some complaints for paying with a credit card though. So I guess props for giving up easily on attempts to overcharge their customers? Definitely seemed like a shifty business, I'll take my watches elsewhere in the future. read more

I was there to replace the battery of my watches the lady who attended me wanted to charge me $50dlls and I told her that was a lot and that somewhere else they would replace them for less than half of didnt let me go telling me she would give me a better price we agreed $35 when she gave me the watches she charged me $50dlls, of course I complained saying that wasn't what we agreed and she told me it was because they cleaned the engineering inside WHAAT i never asked them to do that! and after all she charged me 5 extra bucks for paying with card. I dropped into this place to get a new watch battery. You have to ring the bell for them to let you in, as is common with jewelers in the Pico Robertson area. They let me in I walked straight to the back, told them I wanted my battery fixed. Within a minute I had a working watch. They charged me $8 total, which might be a bit much but they did it quickly. They have all kinds of sterling silver jewelery and chalices and various Jewish things--looks like good stuff--you should check it out! read more

I have been here three times prior to reviewing... first, to replace a battery on a watch (very fast and great price), then to remove links on a gold watch (very fast, affordable), and then again to add a link to the watch (after wearing it a few days I wanted something looser... they were very polite and did not charge me for this). There are a lot of watch repair stores in the area, but I will only go to Veneccian Center in the future. They are a small, family-run store that clearly prides itself on service and gaining repeat customers. read more

There's a delightful young woman named Mitra who runs the shop. She's an absolute pleasure to work with and understands the importance of good customer care (she even came outside the store to process my watch while my car was idling because I couldn't find parking ). Suffice to say the repair was top notch on a particularly difficult job - replace all the numbers and line markers on the face - all of which had fallen off due to my dropping the watch from a shelf.
