Just moved to Venice and was looking for a new barber. I brought my wife to have her nails done next door and the Venice Barber Shop looked like it might be a good place for me going forward. Then I read their policy and procedures...Cash only and no appointments. That's just a bit too inconvenient for me. They say they have an ATM inside but paying the ATM transaction fee, so the barber doesn't have to pay a credit card transaction fee is not exactly a customer focused approach. I guess Im still looking for my new barber shop.Too bad.. read more

First haircut in Florida since relocating. I'm balding so the hair gets unruly looking when its not short. The barber used a buzzer/clipper which I'm not used to. My prior barber always used scissors and for balding guys with short hair who aren't getting fades etc, a scissor gives a cleaner cut in my opinion. Still, the haircut was ok. I thought it was kind of weird that they have the customers turned around facing a wall without a mirror so you can't see what the barber is doing, and they don't turn you around when they're done. You have to look at it yourself, while the barber is waiting for you already by the payment area. I've been at barbershops where they turn the customer around like this, but in those instances there were mirrors on each wall both in front and behind. It's all a little odd. The barber didn't say a word to me at all which was also kind of strange but he wasn't unfriendly. Parking is ample which is good. I was honestly on the fence whether to give this review 3 or 4 stars. I wasn't entirely comfortable being there between not having a mirror and a barber who didn't talk, but I gave it 4 stars because the cut turned out decently and that's most important. read more

Always get a good haircut and they are friendly. Almost never have to wait to long to get my haircut. It's too bad that they don't have better parking, even though it's not their fault. It's just good to know that their is always a friendly face to greet you when you walk in and a thank you when you leave. I have been getting my haircut there since the day they opened. Great place to get a simple cut like a fade for a good price. I've been to other barbers in Venice who charge $35 plus tips and these guys do just as good of a job for $21! They only do walk-ins and only accept cash FYI. They also give you a stamp card and after 5 haircuts, you get $5 off your next one. This will be my go-to barber from now on! read more

This is my first winter in Venice and I was due for a haircut. I decided to go old school and get away from the "salon" type cut. Glad I did. This is a great place. They open at 8:30 on Saturday. I got there at 8:30 and was 7th in line. I was assured it wouldn't be long, and it wasn't. Jeff cut my hair. I told him it was my first clipper cut since the late 60's, and he did a fantastic job. I didn't get it cut high and tight, but just long enough to have something to drag a comb through. Perfect. I watched the first six guys get everything from a buzz cut to a flat top, and a cut like mine. They all looked good. If I'm in Venice, this is the only place that'll cut my hair. read more

The last real barber I went to was in Boston before I retired. Since retiring I always went to one of the chain store salons. The haircuts were okay, but nothing like a real barber. So, based on reviews I decided to give Venice Barber Shop a try. Well, I could not be happier with the result. I like a traditional men's haircut and Venice Barber Shop delivered! Husband and I drove around For about 15 minutes and then decided to call the barbershop to find out yelp has them listed in the wrong location the barbershop is actually to the right of the courthouse on 41 in Venice in a strip mall plaza. Totally recommend the barbershop but unfortunate that yelp may be interfering with future customers who give up searching for it. Due to the incorrect address. read more

Went here two weeks ago. They do a good job of keeping people in the correct order by giving numbered wooden disks. I was turned off by the disgusting amount of cut hair on the floor. After waiting a short time I noticed that the wall mirror was peppered with Trump propaganda bumper stickers. I think this is inappropriate for a business that welcomes the general public. I am very particular when it comes to having my hair cut and have had the same barber for years at home in New Brunswick, Canada. So locating and trusting a barber unknown to me in Venice, Florida was a risk. After much research of the barbers in the area, I had a gut sense that Venice Barber Shop might be the one. Upon entering I watched as Jeff, the owner, and his son, Kyle, cut the hair on their very different clients. When it came my turn, I asked which barber might be better at trimming my beard. Jeff said Kyle does a good job on beards, so I sat in Kyle's chair. I explained I was very fussy about my hair and beard and explained what I preferred and what I didn't want, and after some discussion Kyle went to work on my hair. Turned away from the mirror, I was a little anxious about the progress. Kyle cut with clippers and shears. When Kyle turned me to the mirror, I was very impressed at his skill. Kyle asked whether it was satisfactory and I asked if he could take a little more off, as Kyle had said before he started that he would be happy to do any adjustments, and so he proceeded. I was so pleased when Kyle finished. Then Kyle trimmed my beard to perfection. Trimmed my ears and eye boroughs. An added treat was a brief upper back massage, which is standard with all hair cuts. Finally I was also quite satisfied with the price. I believe in giving credit where credit is due and that is why I am writing this review and recommending Venice Barber Shop at 3956 Tamiami Trail South (across from Race Track gas station near Jacaranda Blvd). I know this is my barber while I spend the winter months in beautiful Venice, Fl. and I will see Kyle and Jeff again in 4 weeks. Great guys and a great barber shop! read more
