I love happy hour at Venice. Jennifer is the bartender, she is so accommodating and kind. She gets to know your name and makes you feel special and welcome. The food and drink deals are good, and tasty. I love the Cesar Salad, The Meatballs, and The Pizza. Not to mention the house bread. I plan to return, and bring my friends!

Throwback Thursday? Who says time travel is merely science fiction. One you walk through the front door of the Venice Restaurant, you are transported to a different era, perhaps the 1980s. The Venice reminds me of Italian restaurants I used to frequent in my youth, though they were missing the white tablecloths, and large bread basket with bread sticks. Otherwise the menu, the décor, the black waitress uniforms and lighting was a trip back in time, and not necessarily in a great way. We chose this restaurant because it was convenient to our hotel, and after a long day at Block Island, we wanted to grab a quick dinner. We were forewarned by the three star Yelp rating that the venue would be iffy. And my fellow Yelpers were right on, though the food on this visit only warranted two stars. We ordered: * Calamari * Ravioli (with Bolognese sauce) * House salad The calamari was rubbery, a little fishy and generally unappealing. The ravioli was prepared too al dente, the edges were hard, though the center of the ravioli was good and the Bolognese sauce was fine, standard fare. The house salad was fine, the lettuce was fresh and the blue cheese on the side was also fine. The bread was slightly warm, not especially tasty. Our waitress (Sam?), was excellent, cheerful, professional and prompt. Service was excellent throughout our meal. Would we return? Not unless we had to, or we were compelled by exhaustion.

Of all the places in Weaterly RI, we chose thisnreataurant to have dinner in. Its a holiday weekend. Okay, They were busy I get it. But rude, pushed off, abruptly shut down during an order. Waited over an hour for a glass of wine and then when I asked again was told they were busy and dont have enough help, as ro explain why I dont have my wine yet instead of just getting the F'ing wine. Other locals came in and got the Kings treatment so they were not "that" busy. I could go on but I wont. I will simply say this was my 8th and final time eating here. Do yourselves a favor and stay away. Avoid at all costs!

Great raw oysters, great prime rib. I'm 55 minutes away, it's worth the drive. I need 85 characters to print. You just hit it.

Could be a great place if they hired a real chef. Hospitality is great but no chef. Pay a real chef. 90,000 a year and the place would rock.

Great happy hour! $1 oysters and cheap quality food. This place is an old school westerly spot.

On the bright side, the kids were thrilled with their Mac & Cheese -- it's hard to go wrong with a classic like that! We also tried the CFC and the Alabama Slammer Burger; both hit the spot, but didn't exactly knock our socks off. The atmosphere was lively and fun, thanks to the DJ and karaoke, though it did get a touch too loud for my liking -- maybe I'm just nostalgic for a quieter supper! Our server, however, was a gem -- friendly, attentive, and quick with a smile. All in all, a pleasant spot if you're after a good time and a decent meal -- just don't expect culinary fireworks.

The meat was tender and not fatty, perfect amount of cheese and sauce. Loved the marbled bread. The fries were ok but nothing special or memorable. They are fries. I asked my server for their opinion on a few drinks and they said go with the bad blood tini. It was seriously dangerous.....light, refreshing, icy cold, and damn delicious! Highly recommend it! Watch Hill lighthouse, East beach and the Watch Hill Carousel aren't that far if you are looking for a day trip this summer. Stop here before or afterwards!

Our server was Ricardo and he was excellent. The most serene water view from our table added to the ambience. The summer campanelle and the Italian sausage rigatoni were perfect. We had a lovely dinner here three years ago, What a shocking disappointment on our return trip…read moretonight. The restaurant and the entire property are beautiful. And our waiter Iggy was a delightful and attentive server. My wife's sea bass was delicious. And I have little else to say that's positive. I had the toro appetizer. It was tough, chewy, and drowned in so much marinade you couldn't taste anything else. I honestly didn't know toro could even be chewy. Sent back the first order thinking it was cut wrong. Second was just as bad. And they didn't take it off the check. Lobster pappardelle was nearly flavorless -- void of seasoning -- and I needed a magnifying glass to find the lobster in this dish. There were numerous service mistakes that I won't detail here. Suffice to say it feels like nobody is managing the dining experience. I've had better service in most diners than we had here. With so many great restaurants in the area, you'd be better off driving by, taking some pictures, and going almost anywhere else. (Try Ella's. It's a gem.) Believe the one-star reviews posted here. I'd do the same if not for our excellent server and my wife's entree. But we left wishing we'd just ordered a pizza.
