I'm giving this bar 4 of 5 stars because it's actually the closest thing one can get from a real…read morebar experience. Upon entry, you will be greeted by the bouncer who also serves as the ticket seller. Door fee is php80 with free drink (our that time was between rhum coke and vodka sprite, we chose the latter). Don't expect too much from the mix. Ours didn't taste like vodka sprite but for the price you pay, it's hard to fault the bar for offering sub-standard versions. Inside is a squarish-area with low ceiling. That made the place look smaller than it really is. The bar is to the left while the dj booth is on the right. There are several tall tables and quite a number of smaller ones. These are all for free as long as you get in early. I was told that they invite guest DJs every Saturday and the one playing that night was superb. Tunes are mostly Billboard Top 100 remixes. The crowd is a motley combination. There are locals (very easy to spot as they usually dress laid back), old, creepy foreigners, young foreigners, and college students. The older foreigners get in quite drunk so they're rowdier and creepier than normal. The club follows a strict dresscodes for men. No Sando / Sleeveless, no slippers. Shorts are okay though. Oh and you're only allowed to smoke outside. All in all, it was a pleasant experience. Definitely a step towards the right direction for Dumaguete. I just wish they can jack the price some more so unsavory locals can't get in and mess up the otherwise good crowd. I guess that's hard to do in Dumaguete where people are probably used to paying a smidge for almost everything.

Kiraras Resto Bar - "Fresh" fish, ooooor....??

This eatery/ bar is located on the busiest corner in Moalboal so it is almost without a doubt busy…read morearound peak eating times. Seating is in the form of rickety plastic chairs just outside their stall and kitchen. The tables get messy fast but they were diligent about getting them clean for the next guest. During dinner time, they are apt to display "fresh" seafood roadside where you can pick and poke at each fish when you're trying to decide what to eat. The restaurant across the lane also does this, so competition looks intense. Despite initial reservations, the fish DID look freshly caught from that day but can't be sure HOW fresh. It might be reassuring that they don't sit on ice but they do pretty much sit out in the hot and humid night time weather the whole time. Despite this, I still pivoted to a steamed fish when learning that they didn't have one of their dinner entrees for the night (this happens commonly). I did ask for the red snapper but I think she gave me the grouper. I guess I should have just gotten up to pick my own... in any case, I think everyone orders the fish either grilled or steamed (as it appears on the menu), and there's only one steamer and one person grilling, so it did take a minute to get to me. My friend did request to have her fish fried and got hers within 10 minutes, so by the time she was finished, I did just barely get my fish. I did like the extra garnishing of onions and bell peppers. It was simmered in some type of brown sauce which was a little bland and just made the fish soggy. Usually when a place is busy, that's a good sign that the restaurant will have tasty food, but it wasn't exactly the case here.

Fees and Charges: -Door Fee: php100.00 (regular days) -Friday and Saturday is lasies night so the ladies get in for free -cocktails and mixed drinks start at php100/shot and around php1000/bottle -local drinks start at php65.00 (San Mig light, red horse, San Mig flavored beers) -pika2x starts at php75 (fries) to php150 (sisig) What To Expect: MO2 Ice's crowd are primarily students with a few foreigners and professionals thrown in the mix. There is a small stage in front where local bands perform anything from oldies but goodies to current pop tunes. Performances are broken by music from the resident DJ (and a few invited guest DJs). The night starts mellow and intensifies as soon as the crowd downs a bottle or two. It can get pretty busy inside with all the gyrating bodies but surprisingly the bar does not get too hot. You can choose to occupy one of the tables and chairs at the middle or sit by the bar at the far end of the venue to order your drinks. MO2 is pretty spacious so there is enough room to dance but I doubt that is the case during the Masskara Festival or the Panaad sa Negros. Overall, MO2 Ice is a decent bar. It's definitely home to Bacolod's party people so if you're in the city and wish to check out the crowd, by all means go visit. Drinks and pulutan are so affordable your php1000 will go a long way.

Though I am not a local, I've literally been coming here for 20+ years when I'm home in Dumaguete. This place I also associate with home because my grandma's house was literally two doors down and we would come here to eat. This place will always share a special piece of my heart as my dad would frequent this place and eat here everyday when he was staying next door. For years my dad would bring his guests here and they would not disappoint. If you want good food, and even better company - rest assured you'll find it here. Shout to the staff and management who cared for my dad, Dodong Manny Garcia, as their own and fed him well. The Garcia family loves this place! Ambiance: you can bring a date, your family, or party with your friends on their live music nights. This place is poppin' and clean. I feel safe here - their bathrooms are clean and their service is excellent. the beautiful thing about this place is that it can even host big parties. We've even had tables of 16+ people accommodations for us. Seating: You have plenty of choices. Downstairs by the stage. Upstairs with a great view of the beach.Bar seating. And even indoor seating in Lab-as. Take your pick! Food: Tapsilog always a fave. They have extremely fresh fish and sell it by the pound. It is soooo tasty I cannot. I love their LapuLapu and an all-around fave is the Bangus lumpia. Fresh mango shakes and calamansi are a must. Alcohol: Take your pick. They have top shelf and local beer. They make extravagant drinks with flames and everything! Drinks here are IG worthy alongside the food. You will go home well fed and nourished. Parking: Be smart about it - there's a lot in the front that people are willing to help park (you're expected to tip) and even better it's not so clustered like it is in South point... this place literally giives you everything you need! Do yourself a favor and stay awhile...enjoy this place and Hayahay through the night because you will be more than impressed by this place. It is a must go to in Dumaguete!

From the outside it sounded like a club, but then you walk in to this courtyard with tables. The server was hella cool. No doubt about that. He was helpful and totally hooked it up. You know me... Nice... hook it uuuuupp. Looks like I got the long pour :) The food: I read somewhere they blue marlin was oily... I didn't have it, but we ordered it and everyone said it tasted quite nice. I ordered the house special Cansi Steak, yes, I thought it was quite delicious... quite delicious indeed! You know in the Philippines there's this tradition of having some pulutan when you drink and this totally rocked it, hit the spot with my martinis. Oh the ambiance is very hip... music was good and had a lot of fun. I'm very happy we picked this place to have our late late dinner. Should I be back in Bacolod, I'd fancy anther visit to Portiko.
