So I've had Verdi Distillery's amazing whiskey a few times, but hadn't actually gone to their awesome establishment until recently. For starters, you walk into a very intimate distillery and tasting room, thinking that it's super small and quaint (which it totally is), but then you walk through some more and realize that they have a few other rooms and then a whole outdoor area that you had no idea existed! We came on a cold November day for my husband's birthday, and had the absolute best time drinking, playing games and chatting with the lovely ladies there! The Offkilter is the smoothest, peanut buttery whiskey you will ever have! We also thoroughly enjoyed the season apple cinnamon whiskey (so much that we bought a bottle). They have seasonal drinks, and take so much pride in what they do (which they absolutely should)! I cannot wait to come back when it warms up to enjoy the vast array of outdoor fun they have! read more

The spirits are phenomenal, creative and unique, we didn't taste one we didn't like! The atmosphere, vibe and local feel take it to the next level! We sat with Sky for a few hours, sharing our stories, laughter and friendship. It's like that there, you walk in and are immediately friends with everyone you meet! We started with a tasting of everything before having a delicious cocktail. I can't say which one was a favorite because they all have a place at the table. The Absinthe definitely struck my fancy though, the flavor is like no other! We took a nice little tour of the place and boy oh boy is that backyard area inviting! I wish we lived near Verdi, we'd be hanging out back there very regularly!! It's spacious, fun and inviting with tons of seating and a nice bar area. We tried the whole sampler tray of their distilled spirits. I really wished I had taken a picture of the tray it was quite impressive. My husband and I each had our favorites. He was particularly fond of their Mahogany whiskey. We bought the Offkilter whiskey (peanut butter), with plans to make peanut butter balls with it. I could see using the Lemon whiskey in lemonade or cocktails easily. Highly recommend trying them out. read more

I left this place wishing I could take it home with me (the entire place including Jack!) and put it a little closer to Oakland. It has the best cocktails of their own whiskey. I particularly enjoyed one that is called peanut butter but has no peanuts - but it tastes like a toasted nut party in your mouth. Hints of Almond, cashew - I identified the cashew first. There's a third nut in it too.... Then I have an old-fashioned with the mahogany whiskey and home made maraschino cherry. Ong the cherry!!!!!!! They marinate them in their whiskey. Lovely whiskeys!!!!! But wait!!! This venue is going to be awesome when the weather warms up a bit. They have a backyard music venue!!! Finally, drum roll please, the service. Awesome! If you've ever been hesitant about taking the trek out to Verdi to check out Verdi Local Distillery, don't be - it's a quick drive from Reno and you'll be glad you went. We were warmly welcomed by Distillery Manager Sky and co-owner Jeremy and given a tour of the rustic and charming property, including the make out room and backyard patio, complete with a music stage and a beautiful view of the mountains. We tasted several of their spirits, including the Apple Cinnamon Whiskey, Offkiltur Peanut Butter Whiskey, and Black Licorice Whiskey - all stellar. We also enjoyed sipping on a Bloody Mary (made with their Garlic Whiskey and house bloody mix), Verdi Mule (made with the Apple Cinnamon Whiskey and ginger beer), and the weekly special, the Sazerac (made with the Constellation Whiskey and Absinthe) - so delicious! My husband and I visited the distillery on a Saturday afternoon and shared the full tasting flight. I was a little nervous because it was TWELVE shots (hello I'm not in college anymore!) but they were small, and some weren't alcoholic or full proof. I couldn't believe how many different flavors there were! From lemon to coffee, peanut butter to garlic, there's definitely something for everyone in addition to your standard whiskey. I had two favorites--the coffee flavor for one, and the lemon one will be absolutely heavenly on a hot summer day. I've been meaning to write a review of this place but wanted to wait until I saw them in person. This local business is full of nice, passionate people who know their stuff, make great whiskey (and I'm not even a whiskey drinker) and they participate in many local events. I've seen them at Bacon bourbon and brews and at Winter wonderland at the Atlantis. I finally got the chance to go to their actual facility which is an older, small, cute place with awesome country decor, whiskey barrels galore, and an entire back yard of fire pits, corn hole, an extra bar and a stage where they have live music on occasions. I've gotten to try a lot of their products and have to admit their Bloody Mary mix with their garlic whiskey is amazing!! I also very much love their lemon whiskey as well as their normal straight forward whiskey. They are always switching up their music inside and outside too. read more

We never have a bad time here, everything about this place rocks. The building is actually a small house with not very much room inside, but this is honestly one of our favorite things about this place. It almost feels like a house party and forces you to talk to the people around you, we always make friends when we come here. On warm days they also have a beautiful backyard that's a little more spacious. We opted for the tasting board which in total is about 5 shots (don't be discouraged by the 12 shot glasses you will receive, they're really only half shots). All the flavored whiskeys are amazing, the peanut butter is my favorite though. The jackalope gin is potentially the smoothest gin I've ever had. It doesn't have that harsh bite that most gin has, making it the perfect sipper gin. If you're ever fortunate enough to pass through Verdi, definitely make sure this is a stop. read more

I came here on Sunday April 30 for the first time after seeing a post on Instagram about Live music, new summer menu drinks and tacos from Chop 40. We showed up around 3-330. The good: 1-Location. It's a quaint little building that I know nothing about, but after reading Michael T's review, it seems it was an old house converted into a distillery, which is wicked cool. 2-Efficiency of drink making. The bartender made each drink as we ordered, rather than taking all 3 of our orders and then making all the drinks. I appreciate this because it allows little room for error in any special requests for the drinks. 3-Taste of drinks. I started with a Bloody Local (aka Bloody Mary), Corpse Revival Style. The Bloody Local on it's own is just the drink. Corpse Revival style includes a small garnish on top of olives, a cute tiny white onion and a green bean. My boyfriend got a Pina Colada and I snagged a sip. I later got a Pina Colada of my own because it was just that good. The Bloody Local was not too spicy, as I'm a weakling when it comes to spice. But it definitely had a nice kick. 4-Visibility of what they're doing-I like the open area in which the drinks were made. It was neat to see the three employees bustling about taking orders, making the drinks, and working around each other in a decently small space. It's a plus for me when employees work together well in a busy rush. 5-Open area to look at the Stills- After touring Bentley Heritage and learning about the Stills and how things are made, it's neat for me to go to other distilleries and breweries and get to see/hear how they make theirs. In a 'garage like' area, there were a couple stills set up and you could look at all the cool-ness of them. My boyfriend and I got our signature picture with the Stills. The OK 1-Seating: Inside where you order your drink is a table that seats about 6 people, if I remember right, then there's a room off to the west of the bar area with an L shaped couch that could probably sit 8ish people?. Not a lot of seating indoors if the weather is ugly outside. But when the weather is decent, there's a few tables out front and a lot more seating out back. It was chilly and windy when I went, so staying warm was a little difficult, even with the high fencing. The Bad/The letdown 1- There were no tacos in sight upon arrive. The bartender we ordered our drinks from said they would be setting up around 4. We stayed till 440 and no food. I'm not sure if they came early and we came too late, or if the food came later and we left too soon. The verdict Still a great local distillery with all the good going for them. I'll forgive the lack of advertised tacos because everything else was awesome. Will definitely be going back. I want to try the Summer sangria! read more

We have been here so many times, I can't even count. Everything they distill is excellent. We love their garlic whiskey in our Bloody Mary's. They make a very flavorful peanut butter, apple cinnamon, or lemon whiskey too. They have two new whiskeys that are very smooth, one is very rum like with notes of vanilla. You can stop in for a cocktail (new summer cocktails) and enjoy the backyard or get a taster or flight of their options. read more

Hidden gem. If you're a whiskey fan, a fan of liquors, or just love fun then this is the spot. I'm a sucker for peanut-butter whiskeys and I've tried their off-kiltur whiskey a few times at bars in Reno but I had to see where the sauce was being made. And wow is this place cool. Small town of Verdi just outside of Reno, cool wood construction building with a cozy bar setup. Bumping back yard with great music, and a cool little room with a classic gaming cabinet. But you came here for whiskey, yes okay okay I get it. We ordered the flight. But this is no ordinary flight of 6-8 shots. No. This is a flight of all the whiskeys they have available plus their famous pickle juice and Bloody Mary mix. For the cost of like 30 bucks or something. I split this with three friends and we had a ball! We took our time, sipped from each, really tried to taste the notes and wow. Smooth, clean but weird whiskeys! Peanut butter is the tip of the ice burg. Like bloody Mary's? Well they have a Garlic whiskey that raises your bloody up a notch. Like a hot apple toddy? Well add their apple whiskey and BAM flavor explosion. The staff is super nice and very attentive. Overall I love this spot. I really can't wait to take my friends the next time I'm in Reno. Verdi Local isn't so much of a distillery as it is the lair of some mad scientists. Every time I stop by I am constantly impressed with the various new flavors they can craft into their liquors, and the array of mixed drinks and cocktails they keep dreaming up. This visit was no exception, as I and several other visitors swung in on a cold, rainy day, and found plenty to liven the spirits and warm us right up. Their menu has several favorites that seem to always be on hand along with an ever-changing selection of new concoctions and experiments. Started out with a Hot Buttered Whiskey, a great way to take the bight out of the cold weather, the Apple-Cinnamon Whiskey in it gives it an amazing autumn-y taste. The Hoppy Business is a very interesting collab with The Brewers Cabinet, in which they basically distill the locally famous Dirty Wookie beer, flavoring it with hops and other botanicals that make a very nice drink indeed. The Mahogany Whiskey on its own is very nice, and one of my favorite local spirits to sip on. One new surprise is their black licorice spirit, which I found amazingly delightful, packing just the right balance of sweet and bitter. And of course, I would be remiss if I didn't mention their famous Bloody Mary, which many of my fellow bar-goers were raving over. You can purchase bottles of most of their products, in the likely event you find something you really like. The bottles come in various sizes and prices from full 750 ml down to the small airline-sized ones. Prices are pretty decent for the quality you get, with a lot of their cocktails starting around the $8, shots being of various prices, and a flight being around $20. However, I saw the amount of tasters you get with a flight, and I can assure you, this is an amazing value, and what any first-timer here should plan on doing. The distillery is located right on the main drag in Verdi. And once you step in, you feel like you stepped into a someplace caught between a moonshiner's hideout and a prohibition speakeasy. The charm here is undeniable, and there's a real homey, cozy sort of feel to it. If the weather is nice (or even if it isn't), you can step out into their small rear patio, enjoy some cornhole, one of the fire pits, or the occasional music performance during the summer. In fact, with a couple restaurants to either side of the distillery, you could easily plan a whole evening hanging out among the great scenery of the foothills and enjoying some quality beverages. And I must also give insane amounts of props to the staff, too. Each time I stop by, they have been just superbly friendly and informative, really getting into talking about their products, their facilities, and what sort of drinks they like or recommend. Top marks to everyone here! In fact, the only potential downside I could list about this place is that it is small, very small, and can fill up to bursting very quickly, so you may want to prepare for a bit of a crowd. All in all, I highly recommend any craft fan in the Reno area go check these guys out. Since opening, they have become one of my favorite local producers, and I know for sure I'll be back again, thirsty for more. Cheers, guys! read more

Met them at a Yelp event tonight supporting the Nevada Diabetes Association. It's safe to say it was true love. I don't know where to start. Their peanut butter whiskey drink was great. However once I tried the garlic whiskey with homemade pickle back chaser I knew this place was legit. The homemade pickle juice is phenomenal, but ends with this taste of fresh dill that had me itching to buy a bottle and marinate wings in it. I was nervous about Gaelic whiskey but WOW! That will for sure be in my bbq chicken marinade. The black licorice was stunning and as a black licorice lover I was thrilled at how much it reminded me of good n plenty. They had an apple cinnamon whiskey that was so good I wasn't sure it even had liquor in it, it might as well have been pie. When the girl serving drinks gave me a sample of their Bloody Mary that was it, I'm in love. I live far off Geiger but I'll drive clear across town to purchase from this local vendor often now that I've found them. read more

A stop at Verdi Local is a must if you're in the area! The understated distillery makes you feel like you're in a ghost town out in the Wild West. Verdi Local Distillery is one place where size definitely doesn't matter. In fact, this could prove to be the world's smallest distillery! At least that's what owners Jeremy and Katie hope the Guinness Book will determine in the next few months. Verdi Local is tucked away in the hills just outside of NW Reno. They've set up inside an old house that had all the rustic charm you'd expect in a place like this, which makes it an exceptional place to visit in any season. Inside, the entire distilling operation sits in plain sight, with shiny stills and columns controlled by a board in the center of what once was the living area of this home. In the dining room you'll find a sweet wooden dining room table perfect for gathering with friends and sipping whiskey, and the kitcheb itself has been converted to a bar, with the pass through window proudly displaying all of the products they've created. Verdi Local is most known for they're apple cinnamon whiskey, which is lower in proof and perfect for mixing into cocktails, but they've also made seasonal flavors including lemonade and most recently a pumpkin spice flavor called the Headless Horseman! I'm certainly more of a whiskey purist, and it's easy to take this stuff way too seriously, which is why I really appreciate what Verdi Local is doing. They're having fun with the art of distilling and sharing that spirit, personality and sense of humor with all of us through their products, and doing a damn fine job if I do say so myself. read more

What a fun place to visit! It's really small, but has so much character. Inside you will find a working whiskey distillery on your right, and a very small bar area on the left. They offer a variety of drinks (including non-alcoholic if you want), and whiskey sampler shots. They have some very creative flavors like garlic & lemon. Our bartender, Mike, was so nice! He gave us a free tour of all the distillery rooms, and the back outdoor area. He said the outdoor area is available for parties or events, and even had a stage for a small band. They don't serve food there because they aren't licensed for that, but you could probably bring your own food to eat out back. Here's the funny part: We ended up buying 7 bottles of various whiskeys and some t-shirts. And, I actually don't really like whiskey!!! If you're looking for this place it's right next to Chop 40. Don't use Google maps or you'll end up lost! This place is great and on Friday night they have open tastings and games in the back area with fire and a stage. No TV to distract you so enjoy just hanging out with friends and have a nice evening sampling their wares. I recommend the cinnamon apple and the seasonal pumpkin whiskey. Allie Is most helpful in navigating your sampling adventure. Mike is in the back barrel room working his magic. Relatively new business of five years, it's worth your time to take the drive to Verdi.
