You can relax in you BEAUTIFUL and clean room, or relax on the deck. The lodge has a bar, fireplace, dining area. Our room had a fireplace and bathtub big enough for two. The town of Bolton Landing is adorable. To top it all off the owners were great. Friendly, funny and more than willing to suggest things for you to do and tell you about the area. The price was great. We cannot wait to go back.

As ancient and tiny as it is expensive…read more This was originally posted on TripAdvisor. But they are getting too big and too paranoid. This was our 10th trip to Lake George. We've stayed a number of places and this was by far the worst. We enjoy "quaint" and "rustic". This was just "old and dilapidated". We'd have been more comfortable sleeping in our car. My daughter is in her late 20s, son-in-law in his early 30s and the missus and myself in our early 50s. We all had trouble with the doors and generally found the place intolerable. Thank goodness we're all fit. This place would be a death trap for anyone older or the slightest bit infirm. I've never seen floors so uneven. We don't think of a motel in NY as a destination (it's not the Bahamas). We just want a comfortable place to sleep and shower between our activities. This place wasn't even sufficient for those 2 things. Bed was like a pile of rocks and creaked like the door from the Inner Sanctum. The bathroom was tiny (you had to be a gymnast to use the tiny stall shower) and was so badly tilted, one almost needed a spotter to use it. It's door was so mis-aligned that people would get stuck and needed help getting out. We couldn't care less about their attempt at a basketball "court" or other things offered on the property (all sound quite inadequate from the reviews, anyway). They should forget about those things and try upgrading the rooms every 20 years or so. The ceiling fans in the bedrooms were so noisy that it was easier to sleep without them. The one in the living room wobbled so badly we were afraid it would come off and kill someone. So, we didn't run any of them. All this fabulousness for $350 per night! As another reviewer said "a dump that charges like it's Hilton". The place is the kind that you get for $60. And lo and behold, when my niece came over from her place, she said "how much did you pay for this? It should be about $60." I do understand that the places in Lake George are not open year round and need to make a year's worth of profit in half a year. But that's no excuse for such poor conditions. One problem is that because it's a popular location, folks can get away with this (supply and demand). But Diamond Cove takes it too far. We've been to Lake George 9 other times. ALL the places were nicer and less expensive. We've stayed at one place that has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, huge kitchen and livingroom, game room, rowboats, kayaks, etc. It's $200 - $300 a night depending on exactly when you go. But it's higher rate is still less than Diamond Cove (should be "Cave"). And it's 10X nicer. Of course good places like that are booked solid and the Cave has vacancies. Part 2 So, of course Kris making a long, babbling post was very predictable. I did misjudge a couple of things though. I said it would be a "rebuttal" and it wasn't. She didn't address my review of the cabin in any way. And I must say that I did not expect her attempt to impugn my reputation as a method of covering up what deplorable accommodations she offers. She sites the fact that I have posted many negative reviews and, my presenting this out of context, she tries to make it sound like I'm just impossible to please. This deceitfulness makes it even more clear what kind of business they run. To set the record straight, this is my 102nd review for TA. Of that total 15 are 3-star (average), 57 are 4-star or 5-star and 30 are 1 or 2 stars. That means twice as many positive reviews as negative. Kris correctly points out that my reviews span the globe. Yes, that means I am a world traveler and not limited to the little towns of limited education and poor dental care. She takes great exception to my bad review of the Waldorf Astoria hotel in NYC. If you look at their rating on TA, nearly half the reviews are Average or below. My reviews are accurate and fair. After my Nov 2013 review of the Waldorf, a manager replied with an apology (not a criticism of my review). There is no excuse for the lack of quality service you received from each of the team members you mentioned in your review." I would also like to mention my 5-Star review of "Lake Motel" (Lake George) in May of 2013. Again, good places were full and Diamond Cove was not..... She only talks about my negative reviews of the "most biggest" hotels (her grammar is as good as her hotel management) and doesn't address the conditions of the cabin. Floors are uneven to the point of being unsafe. Doors don't close probably and when you get them closed, you can't get them open. Squeaky fans, creaking beds... Everything ancient, poor condition and poor quality. She says we didn't call to ask for help. What would be the point? [ring, ring] "hi Kris, I'm calling from cabin 20. Could you please send over 3 new beds, 3 new ceiling fans, 4 new doors (with knobs please), a new floor and a larger shower stall? You can? 10 minutes? Thanks! You rock!"

The rooms are outdated and in need of a serious remodeling. The walls a paper thin. It's on a busy corner near a bar, so you can here the drunks carousing. There's no wifi. I could go on, but why? In a tiny village with thousands of hotel/motel rooms, you need a gimmick to stand out. This place has nothing, no pool, no beach, no bar, no dining room, no kitchen, and it's not cheap! I paid $120 per night to stay here during the tourist season, but like I said, there are hundreds of motels and thousands of motel rooms, so next time, I'll shop around for something cheaper, or something with more to offer.
