We usually dont know where we're traveling on our shift until the very last minute. In my case, it was Owen Sound which is a guaranteed hotel visit. I had no toiletries on hand so, my plan was to stop by this Walmart to grab them... big mistake that was. This is what happened: I was in the toothpaste aisle browsing at the different brands and prices on the shelves. A short older lady dressed in all blue Walmart attire (who looked like she had some type of status) stopped at the main entry of the aisle with an electronic notepad or scanner in her hand. She stood there for more then 15 seconds and was typing something. She eventually walked away. Before I had the chance to pick the toothpaste that I wanted to *purchase,* another female employee walks into the aisle from the opposite end, closer to where I was standing. She stood there with a pen and a piece of brown paper in hand, just glaring at the toothpaste. I looked directly at her trying to make eye contact. She just stood there and didn't even ask if I needed help or even gave me a fake smile just to make me feel more at ease. She walked away after probably realizing that she wasn't doing anything to justify her position. I picked up a random toothpaste as quickly as possible and threw it into the blue basket I was carrying. As I turned to walk towards the main hallway, she walked by AGAIN looking towards me. When we made eye contact she quickly turned he head as if to say "damn I've been made." By this time I'm fuming, I walked out, and she quickly walked into another section so I wouldn't see her. When I stood in line waiting to buy my things, the cashier was eyeing me up and down making me want to drop my things and walk out... but I needed them. This type of behavior is really sad to observe and very unfortunate that the first thing against me is the color of my skin. I'm not a thief and I was raised with a silver spoon in my mouth. Did they really think that I would steal something dressed in my work "uniform?" Let's be realistic here. Owen Sound is predominantly inhabited by retired caucasians. So obviously if they see a black Male, they'd get excited. I called the store to speak to a manager but I hung up. I'd rather post this for everyone to see. I will also let all of my coworkers know to never shop at Walmart Owen Sound. You Walmart employees are flat out racist.

The house itself smelled like mould with a slight smell of cigarettes. My sister wiped down the walls to show Amanda that the house was not clean. In the bathrooms as leftover soap from the previous renters. When I say this place is uninhabitable, we drove 6 hours to get there and opted to drive home rather than stay there as none of us felt comfortable touching the furniture. Amanda was rude and insisting that the previous renter stained everything, yet mould and stains such as the ones in this cottage takes time. To make it worse 2 hours before we arrived, we received a text saying the deck could not be used and there was ongoing construction. This is something that would've been nice to know before hand. To start, the cottage is surrounded by swamp land, which is conveniently excluded from their photos online. The musty smell when entering the house was a warning. The basement bedroom is sitting in a pool of condensation upon which they placed plywood and carpet. The mold is visibly forming on the baseboards in the bedroom. Amanda, the owner or managers solution was to come by and slap on some cover up store bought product as she claimed it was only "surface mold". It just got worse from there. The wall to wall carpet was stained excessively, the bedroom duvets had grease stains, there was no AC and the fans they provided were broken. Paint touch ups were done with paint that doesn't match the rest of the wall color. The fixtures in the shower were completely tarnished. Then they have the audacity to post a 5 Star trip advisor review from 2016 on their front door. Clearly they are completely delusional. After all that we stayed 2 out of 4 nights because the area itself is beautiful and it was a long drive up there and no where else had vacancy. After we followed all their clean up instructions, left the place cleaner than it was, they still deducted 150$ for the cleaning fee. I cant believe what these people get away with, I can only hope what happened to us doesn't happen to anyone else so please save yourself the trouble and do not do business with this company.
