We came across this place on Yelp and the reviews were great and we wanted pizza for lunch so we decided on this place. The parking lot was so empty it didn't even look open but upon calling, it was indeed open. We started with the barbecue wings which were okay but that's not why we came here, the pizza on the other hand Was great! The crust was thin, yet sturdy enough to hold cheese and pepperoni. The cheese, was just enough to not be greasy and pepperoni was just spicy enough not to overwhelm the delicious balance that is this pie. The owner of the joint is from New York and that absolutely comes across in this pizza. Do yourself a favor and get the 18" even if you are alone! It really is that good, even the next day warmed up in the microwave. Be patient though as the owner has limited staff. The ambiance is very meek but that's not why you come to this place. The owners know what they're doing they use filtered water to remove the heavy metals that remove the gluten from the dough so your pizza is crispy and delicious the old world pizza is the way to go it's saucy crispy and everything you want... I'm originally from New Jersey, which is known for many things, but among them is great pizza. I have been here in Pinellas county for 14 years, and I have found decent pizza, but not great Jersey pizza, until today. We had a takeout pie from Verola's, half onion, half mushroom. The crust was thin style, not overly bready, but with enough of its own identity, just enough body that you need to bite and maybe tug. No one else down here seems to be able to do that. The sauce was just tangy enough with good cheese balance. The onions and mushrooms were both fresh. When we got it home and had a taste, I had to look out the window to make sure that I wasn't back in NJ!! If you like good pizza, do yourself a favor and try this place. read more

Dined in at this pizzaria for the first time today. The pizza was absolutely amazing. We got a large classic cheese pizza with onions and mushrooms. The crust was perfect, the sauce was perfect and the toppings were fresh. It was simply delicious. IMHO they make the best pizza around. We will definitely be regular customers. Tried this to find a good NYC quality pie. My old favorite changed hands and the new owner turned a near perfect pie into an average pie so we neededa new place. The pizza at Verola's was first rate NYC pie. Hard to find here in Florida. Tony's in Dunedin and Nona in Safety Harbor and now Verola's make the grade. Nice yeasty crust with a touch of malt if I'm not mistaken and cooked perfectly. We had a meat lovers and all the toppings were high quality and plentiful. Prices were reasonable. Very clean and comfortable inside. Service was very good. Attentive but not annoying. Clean bathrooms. Friendly owners with NY pizza experience. Highly recommend. read more

Super Delicious Thin Crust Pizza! We got the NY Cheese and Meat Lovers! Great little mom and pop pizza place that opened only one (1) year ago and is still a Hidden Gem. Good for Take Out, Date Night, or a Family / Large groups. They serve Beer / Wine and Pepsi products and the water is surprisingly good. My only wish is that they had a regular width pizza but it's tasty enough to come back for sure. Only OK I had a craving for pizza and Verola's had good reviews. The interior is pleasant enough and there's a nice outdoor area, although the weather wasn't conducive to al fresco dining on my visit. Staff is nice but confused and disorganized. I started with a salad which was nice enough but not quite what was described on the menu. The pizza had a very thin crust, almost like a cracker, that was hard to cut with knife and fork or hold and bend and was bland. The tomato sauce on the pizza was nice, but not rich enough. The glass of wine I had was pricey and it tasted like the bottle had been open for a while. We have several decent pizza places around here, including Cristino's just up the road. I probably won't return to Verola's. read more

This is our new favorite pizza place for sure. They spent about four years getting the place just right including improving the water so it could be as on par with New York's water as possible. First time trying this restaurant. The staff were very friendly. We had the Caesar salad with homemade dressing that was excellent, The pizza was top notch. They make their own sausage! Arrived there around 12:30 or so. The place was empty but we decided to go in anyway. Nice and clean good size place. Only one person there. Very nice. We're just not used to having a whole restaurant to ourselves. The pizza was awesome. Crust was perfectly cooked. Not too hard not too soft. Loved the toppings too. The pizza sauce was very good. Y'all this food is INCREDIBLE and the owner was so nice. It was so good we had to call back and order another pizza. We got the old world pizza with breaded chicken added and it tastes like the world's best chicken parm. The meat lovers pizza is loaded with toppings and absolutely delicious. The Caesar salad was crisp and loaded with cheese and the dressings are all clearly made from scratch and are amazing. I like a variety of pizza. I don't stick with NY, Chicago, St. Louis, or Ohio pizza. Thick crust, thin crust, deep dish, or Sicilian, so I don't have a "go-to" pizza parlor. I will say this establishment is really good if you're after NY pizza. There is attention to detail when building your pie. From the guys in back making it to the guy in front cooking it. Within about 15 min the place started getting busy and the carry out orders started rolling in. Super friendly people and nice, clean pizzeria with pleasant music playing. Bottle sodas and a selection of beer/wine that we were told will grow as they do. 1st surprise was a nice basket of fried mushrooms and delish sauce for only $6. Couldn't believe it, not around here! 2nd was the pizzas - Buffalo Chicken and Quattro Formaggi - so good!! The toppings, sauces and cheese were all fresh, quality ingredients. But the best was the crust! We agreed we could just eat crust dipped in sauce and be perfectly happy. It has its own unique flavor and wonderful texture. The only suggestion is maybe a sign directing people to the door.
