I moved to Texas 5 years ago so when I come home I always hit up my favorite spots. Versailles never misses. It's been a long time since I have been here but I went with one of my favorite meals. It was delicious. The empanadas were perfect! The service was impeccable. Parking is always a challenge at this location but I was lucky to get parking right away. The parking lot is super small. I drove past this when I was looking for it the first time. Conspicuous location with tricky parking but once you get in here it's love. Diner-like comfort food setting who seem to have a booming business as lots of different people of all kind filled this establishment. Service started off fast then became slow but it all evened out. Can't find anything to complain about when it comes to the food. The shredded pork was bursting with flavor. Beans and rice couldn't be better and the plantains were good as well. It's a pretty nice sized serving so you may have enough to take home. Will be back to try more menu items without a doubt. read more

I've been visiting this spot for years and it was great to visit again. I first dined here over 20 years ago and it still offers the best Cuban food out there! Upon being seated, you are immediately served with warm, toasted, garlicky, buttered bread slices that taste amazing - so simple, yet perfect. The menu is filled with incredible options from vegetarian dishes to plates with fish, pork, chicken and beef. My go-to dish is their signature Roasted Chicken plate - it's a huge serving of half a chicken, steamed rice, rich black beans and deliciously fried plantains. The chicken is perfectly seasoned and fantastically tender to the bite. If you happen to have room for dessert and it's available, go for the Tres Leches Cake - it's rich, creamy and perfectly sweet. I've been to the original on Venice Boulevard, the Ventura Blvd location, and this one at Pico and La Cienega. They have blocked off a door for ordering to go and that's what I did. Served with french fries. I knew this wasn't going to be my last time having it- and it wasn't. One day i wanted to stop being basic and i went with a recommendation by the staff. It was the Versailles Famous Garlic Chicken. I had no idea what i was ordering, but i was open to their recommendation. What came out was a lovely roasted chicken on a pool of thin garlic sauce and sliced onions. The chicken was scrumptious, but i wasn't a fan of the garlic sauce. It was just too potent for me- combine that with the raw onions and this was going to be a mission. I chowed down on the chicken, but left the sauce and onions to the side. Because i enjoyed the Cubanos, empanadas and beer i recommend the spot. Just be mindful when trying to venture out to other items on the menu you aren't familiar with. read more

Love this place!! I always stop by whenever I'm in the area. The parking isn't the best but the food makes up for it. The happy hour is always good 3-7pm great prices on beer $3, wine and sangria $4. Happy hour food is always good. The beef and chicken empanadas 2 for $5 are really good the filling is flavorful and the empanadas are fried and crispy, the cilantro sauce is perfect to dip with. The Cuban sandwich is $7.99 and is on a nicely toasted Roll with a good amount of bolo ham and Swiss that melts in your mouth. The chicken wings 6 for $5.50 isn't to bad either with the dipping sauce. One of our favorites is the garlic chicken with white rice and black beans and onions. The chicken is so juicy and marinade is lemony and garlicky goodness and never disappoints, it's enough for 2 people to share. The garlic chicken and shredded pork combination is also really good, the pork is tender and flavorful enough for 2 people. The service is good, the size of the place is decent but it can get packed for dinner so come before 7:30 if you can. I will be back again trust me!! read more

Others have critiqued the portion sizes and I agree - we ordered a side of beans for four dollars expecting a healthy side portion. Received about 3/8 of a cup of beans which frankly was enough because the flavors were so lacking that more would have just made it to the trash. Tamales - sorry, all I can say is yuck!! Arroz con Pollo, also yuck - and emphasis on the "con", felt totally ripped off with a plate of rice and just a leg & thigh and a few plantains. All could have been forgiven had any of it tasted good! We ordered at the door for take out and there were plenty of customers coming and going.
