First stop arriving to Canada. They were able accommodate 13 of us in a short period of time. The place is bustling with diners. The place is elegant and typical Asian decor. The live lobster tank was filled and massive and cheap. No steam carts here, you order from the menu they provide and will bring everything to you. Everything was very good except the congee. Lacked any seasoning. The stir fried noodles was very good with the wok hai. The durian filled pastry was amazing, wasn't overpowering and the outer layer was flaky. I would come back just for this.

Wish I came across this spot earlier before settling with places like Yu Seafood and The One. We made reservations for a Saturday and sat down on time. Everything we ordered had huge pieces and tasted great. Notable mention to the hot sauce that they provided for the table and the huge dough sticks. Although service was great (hot water was refilled, our plates were cleared regularly and they swapped our personal plates with clean ones), I'll have to deduct a star for missing some of our ordered items. Eventually it was a blessing in disguise because the whole table got full, so not receiving some of the items was not the end of the world.

With a name like "Very Fair" I'll have to say that rating will match the name. Good dim sum selections. Plump har gow and siu mai and probably the Guiness winning largest Youtiao on the hemisphere. Service is not necessarily that mindful. The table next to us kept growing in size and our table was made to scoot over several times over the course of our meal. At one point the manager was shouting urgently for everyone to put on their coats. What's going on? What's going on? Fire drill? No...they were going to bring in more chairs from outside and they were going to bring them through the fire exit abutting several tables. Hilarious disregard for the customer experience. My parents like to come here for BBQ takeout as well, so it's worth considering!

Came here for dinner despite the 30mins ride for a family dinner. This place is huge, has a take out section, market section, they also serve dimsum during the day. Dinner is mostly set dinners, also lunch sets. The service is okay, they changed the plates for us on the way. Typical Chinese restaurant, I don't expect too much. Although something was up with the chopsticks, they were the black matte-like material. After wiping them with dry napkin, the black was coming out, they were on the napkin. The server said it's normal because they wash them... That's never happened before being with my husband for 14 years and my in-laws bringing me to so many restaurants. Crab was a little overcooked that the meat stuck to the shells. The goose feet are interesting and different. The maggie sauce beef was really good, duck was not bad too. I'm a little indifferent, there are better Chinese restaurants out there that I've been too. I've told my FIL I prefer the other places we've been. Rating: 3.5/5

Busy AF on a Monday afternoon at 1 PM. Parking lot gets packed as well.

Good food and service. Great portions. Couldn't finish our meal for two during dim sum. Needed to bring part of the meal home. To avoid parking issues or table wait times, it's wise to arrive there at around 10 AM or earlier.

Despite its humble name, Very Fair Seafood Cuisine is definitely a great Chinese banquet option. I went for both dim sum and dinner recently, and both experiences were good. For Dim Sum, they have all the classic options and a deal on weekdays before 11. On weekends, it does get a bit pricey. I'm not sure if it was a unique situation, but I also found that the dishes came out very slowly this visit. Normally, dim sum is quickly serviced as most of the items are being made in large quantities - we probably waited 1.5 hours for all dishes, and even then, missing some. A highlight of our meal was the $10 roasted pork platter which was a special add on. The dinner was also a bit pricey, but I liked the elegant decor and good taste. There was nothing too special to support the price point but the food is definitely elevated against other Chinese banquet halls. They have some combo deals that seemed like good value, so worth your time to look into those.

    Fried Garlic with Shrimp

This review is based on the most recent renovations and changes made, which is a big improvement to what it was before. While not all the dishes were stellar, they deserve credit for their efforts. My wife came in for an earlier dinner and managed to get a seat without reservations, which seems to be a must, given it's recent resurgence in popularity. Throughout the course of the meal, the staff was very courteous and quick to address us. We ordered the Famous Four Dishes Set Meal, which came with the Soup of the Day, poached chicken (whole), garlic with vegetables in broth, plus two dishes, which we picked Fried Garlic with Shrimp and Beef Tenderloin in Chinese Style. The Poached Chicken (Whole) and Garlic with Vegetable in Broth were well presented and met the standards as you should typically expect, no complaints here. The Fried Garlic with Shrimp was coated with a batter that was done in the right amount, with a crisp texture and great spice flavouring. It's also cooked in onions and comes with sweet potatoes as well. Overall, this was my favourite dish for the night. The Beef Tenderloin was decent, has a good amount of thickness and well cooked under the sweet sauce. As mentioned above, they recently renovated their location, so the decor was modernized and looked more upscale and comfortable. I recommend giving this restaurant a visit, as I had a pretty pleasent experience.

Bone & Belly Turnip, Tofu & Coriander Soup

We came to Very Fair Seafood Cuisine for a special dinner and ordered the Giant Grouper Set ($328). It was a full-on seafood feast with a wide variety of dishes: giant grouper served two ways (bone and belly with turnip, tofu and coriander soup and stir-fried grouper fillet with chives), pipa duck (whole), lobster (5lb) with garlic minced pork, dried fried abalone and sea cucumber in XO sauce, vegetables in supreme broth, and fried rice with lobster tomalley. The grouper was fresh and tender in both preparations. The bone and belly with turnip was rich and comforting, and the stir-fried fillet had great texture. The pipa duck was amazing: crispy skin, juicy meat, and nicely presented. The lobster was massive and flavourful, loaded with garlic and minced pork, and unexpectedly had crispy French fries with it, a fun and tasty touch. The abalone and sea cucumber in XO sauce had great depth and texture. The veggie dish was light and cleansing, and the fried rice with lobster tomalley was savoury and satisfying. At $328, it's a splurge, but totally worth it for a special occasion or a family-style meal with a group. Service was attentive and the pacing between dishes was smooth. Overall, a solid choice for a traditional Cantonese seafood experience.

I like coming here for dim sum, for their BBQ pork rice and even for dinner. Their set meals are decent in price and it's a good value. The food is delicious. I absolutely love the BBQ rice, I tend to swing by and pick up 2 boxes for my family and I when we don't know what to have for lunch or dinner. We came here on a Sunday night and luckily we made a reservation a week in advance. They had a wedding reception going on as well so there were fewer tables available, all of them were full. The dishes came really quick. Loved the battered fried shrimp and the sweet sour pork. Definitely would be coming back again.

    Dave Y.

I know it's a cultural thing, but I can't help to smile about the restaurant name and also the wedding-venue look of the interior. It's a huge lively place with lots of food action going on. Great to see what others are enjoying to give you some good ideas. And a huge menu of some very good dim sum so you will not be disappointed by any means.

It was quite busy for a Tuesday night when we came for dinner. A portion of the restaurant was sectioned off for a function. The main menu is in English and chinese/Cantonese, but the singular menus are only in chinese, which limits the choices for those who can't read chinese. We chose one of the set meals and let one of the staff know. Not even a couple of minutes later, we flagged down the same staff to change the set meal to another one. A few minutes after that, the staff comes back to tell us to stay with our original choice or 'wait a long time for your food'. We found that quite off-putting, but ultimately stayed with our original choice. There was one veggie dish that we added beef to. To me, the amount of beef in the dish did not seem worth $6. When it came time to settle the bill, we had one sharp-eyed family member who noticed a 12% gratuity was already incorporated into the total amount. Check your bill before leaving a tip, as one could already be included. Overall, the food was decent, but the service was lacking. Our actual server was great, but that one staff member really made us rethink our plans to come back as a large group for another dinner.

Items that I got this visit: - har gow shrimp dumplings: overall pretty good, but the wrapper was a bit thicker than I expected. Would prefer a thinning dumpling wrapper - chicken feet: excellent, very tender and flavor was great - tofu skin wrap in abalone sauce: pretty good, the meat inside was lean and well balanced with the veggies - spare ribs in black bean sauce: this was a bit of a disappointment. The ribs were a bit tough and also underseasoned. It could have used some more salt and some extra cook time. Service was fine, nothing special. The restaurant overall was pretty nice and modern. I hope to come back sometime and try some other dishes.

There were so many dishes I started losing track. LOL. I also don't know all the names of the dishes as I didn't see the menu. One of the dishes was a fried lobster. They showed the lobster to us (poor lobster) before cooking it. The lobster tasted really good but I'm not used to handling lobster in its shell. LOL. There was a pumpkin soup which I couldn't eat since it had dairy in it. Another dish was a Peking duck with rice paper wraps, cucumber & green onions. This was my favourite dish. Delicious, yummy & simple to eat. Another dish was chicken (I didn't taste that one). We also had a fried rice which was so yummy. Then there was a dish with scallops, oysters, pork & seaweed surrounding it. I tried the scallops & they were delicious. There was another duck dish but this time the duck was chopped into little pieces with some Dessert was a yogurt / jelly type of thing which I can't eat due to my dairy intolerance. Service was really great. I'm not sure if that's because I was at a table full of Chinese people though. LOL. The dishes came quickly & they just kept coming! We had tiny plates to eat from so after the lobster we got clean plates. For the fried rice we had the servers separate it into bowls for everyone. Since we couldn't finish all the food we had them wrap up the leftovers & we took it back with us. Myself & another co-worker split up the leftovers between us since no one else wanted it. Ambiance: The restaurant had some nice lunar new year decorations up. It was pretty. Located inside the Atrium on the Bay this is an easy location to get to. The location was the site of a former restaurant called Spring Rolls. It still looks the same the only thing that changed were the tables & chairs. The washrooms are downstairs in the lowest level of the restaurant. It was hard for me to get down there because my knees are really stiff & painful. It would've been nice if they had a handicap washroom on the main level. The food was delicious & service was attentive. I thought the special lunar new year meal we chose was too much food for six people. I would've been happy with dim sum. Also the washrooms being in the basement was an inconvenience for me. Those who are mobility challenged will have the same issue.

It was bright and also slightly higher in noise level but to be expected. The individual New Century slow boiled soup is hardest to share but secure some empty bowls and you can divide the hefty portion. In the winter, there's a silkiness to the piping hot consommé that sooths a dry throat and has an umami essence infused with abalone, ginseng, and pork. There's plenty to choose from in the house signature combo platter including roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, BBQ pork, pork slices, and seaweed salad. Saving my stomach for the later dishes, I had a taste of the duck (a good start with crispy skin) and BBQ pork (satisfactory and well flavoured). With the generous portion of chicken in the combo platter, the slow cooked chicken with abalone broth seemed like overkill. I've never been a huge fan of this dish that's served cold since I prefer chicken hot. Still, I understand it's the jelly layer between the skin and meat that people enjoy. And to be fair, the chicken was tender, and New Century certainly didn't skimp on the ginger and scallion oil. For those who tend to fill-up before the "main dishes", the stars of the combo arrive mid-meal. The stir-fried Vancouver crabs with silver fish in HK style spicy sauce needs to be eaten at arrival as the crunchy coating is best straight from the fryer. And despite not looking spicy, the dish has a light heat that permeates in the background. Additionally, the crab was fresh and meaty, cooked well so it remained delicately flakey. The amount of sweet and sticky sauce used in the stir-fried lobsters with scallion in Maggie sauce was well balanced, lightly covering the crustaceans. Both lobsters were substantial; even after eating many pieces, we still had plenty of leftovers. This is a long review head to Gastro World for the rest.
