He was given diazepam a Valium, he was then put on a drip and I was told that his blood will be tested and I would receive a call. I was phoned after 15: 00 to pick him up. I shown a paper which was the result of his blood test and all was good, the vet said that he was given sedation and medication. At home he got another seizure so I brought him back, I was then told he was only sedated, not medicated. I was advised to leave him and they would sent him to the emergencies unit because after 18:00 hour no one was at the clinic while the emergencies unit have a 24:00 hour staff and that in the morning of 18 February a liver test will be done. I was phoned in the morning and was told my dog passed the night okay and that the liver test will be done I will receive a call when he is returned at the clinic. In the afternoon I was called to pick my dog up. I was told that he had eaten well and had gotten his medication. I was given Phenoleptil 50 and Libromide. The treatment is: 1/2 Phenoleptil with his food at night and in the morning, 1/2 Phenoleptil and 1/2 Libromide. I gave him 1/2 Phenonleptil with his food. During the night he frequently got up to pee. The next morning 19 february 2016 I gave him 1/2 Phenoleptil and 1/2 Libromide in the morning his behavior was as expected. Later on in the day he seemed to be stronger on his feet, at night he got his 1/2 Phenoleptil with his food. About 2 hours after this meal he began pacing and peeing. It was horrible to see him walking round and round, peeing and sliding on his pee, this lasted for about 3 hours then he DIED. This is what I learned after his death. Phenoleptil. Do not use in dogs weighing less than 5 kg body weight. 12.5mg tablets should not be divided. For accuracy of dosing, dogs under 10 kg should commence therapy with Phenoleptil 12.5 mg Tablets. The recommended initial dosage is 2.5 mg phenobarbital per kg body weight twice daily. My dog was 5.6 kg. And he was given 25.mg twice a day, when it should have been 12.5 mg twice a day. LIBROMIDE Tablets for Dogs are intended for use in epileptic dogs that have already commenced therapy with phenobarbital for a minimum of approximately 1-2 weeks prior to commencement of therapy with potassium bromide. My dog was put right away on Libromide once a day. The daily dose of Libromide Tablets for Dogs is intended to be divided and administered as two portions a day with food (i.e. oral administration). Libromide is used at 30 mg KBr/kg/day in conjunction with phenobarbital. For dogs with a bodyweight of 10kg or less, the dose regimen may need to be adjusted by the prescribing veterinarian, with due consideration to the pharmacokinetics of the active substance, therapeutic serum bromide levels, clinical effect and a benefit: risk assessment. In my view my dog overdosed, he was killed by the vet Eva Molina Guillen and I told her so. My advise: always take a bill where it is written what you are paying for and always check the Internet for info before administering any medication to your pet.
