Awful customer service. Definitely a government program. They have given me so much trouble on the application process even getting the application packet is difficult. They are typical state employees, low energy "not my problem" attitude. None of them had recent VA information and weren't capable of discussing qualifications with me. Unless you're buying a basic copy-paste subdivision house and in NO hurry to do so just go to a bank with a VA Home Loan Certificate of Eligibility. read more

Do not use VHPB for your home loan! They cannot be trusted. I paid my mortgage through VHPB for over 15 years, but recently fell behind on my payments (three months) due to medical and other bills. I tried to make partial payments to get caught up but they would not accept them. Then they gave me only one week to get completely caught up before they started foreclosure even though I told them that I could get get caught up with my payments in two weeks. They refused to wait. You are better off using the VA loan center or a credit union as they will usually work with you. read more
