It's very disheartening to see how downhill this thrift store went. I've lived down the street my entire life, this used to be such a gem until new management came. Their prices are insane for cheap, polyester, and sometimes even stained clothing! We're talking $10-$12 for a polyester top. Let us be reminded of the location, this is old Chula Vista, not a particularly booming area for business so the rent is not that crazy (I would know, I rented down the street). The clothes are donated for free, and yet the prices are unreasonably high. I really hope this place can get new management and turn this around. This thrift store truly is a GEM! If you are in San Diego and you are looking for VINTAGE,UNIQUE and COST efficient items. This is it! I predominantly look for home decor but their clothing I've been told, is great too. I will say the items being sold in the back room (more pricy items) are sometimes outlandish and I have to bring it up to a manager to see if they can do a price adjustment. I always try to bring up comparable prices if I think it's priced incorrectly. But for the most part, I have found wonderful things here. Especially for the holidays! read more

This used to be my go to thrift store, but I don't like how management handled a dangerous and aggressive situation. I got attacked by a older women in the store who immediately started screaming, cussing and threatening me while I was shopping. I was trying to walk down an aisle, WHILE SAYING EXCUSE ME, and this lady wouldn't budge. I then had to push my cart into the aisle of clothes on the left of me, so I can maneuver around. As I was walking by, our shoulders/arm touched. She then immediately starts screaming at me and to the store that I "slammed my cart into her side". She completely lies about the entire situation and then has her daughter on the phone threatening to come "beat my a$$". I calmly asked for staff and asked them to check the cameras, and to address this unwell woman who is literally threatening me in the store. The manager comes back 20 minutes later saying they checked the cameras and as I was walking by my arm did graze her, so I should go apologize to her. Let me get this right... The cameras show exactly what I said I did from the beginning, accidentally grazed her as I walked by, but I should go apologize? Your customer not only threatened me with physical violence, but completely lied about the situation by yelling over and over that I "hit" her and purposely "slammed my cart into her". The manager not only allowed this disgusting behavior but condoned it. read more

Used to be my favorite thrift store, no matter how damaged an item is know that you'll be basically paying 30% discount because it's "brand" name. Ridiculous. The prices are outrageous and they know it. I felt like I was at goodwill. Apart from that the store is not even kept up to be having prices like that. I feel like good will is even more considerate. **Sunday Visit: August 2022** This thrift shop has a lot of stuff! They have mens, womens, kids, shoes, toys, accessories, Halloween costumes among other things. I'll be honest, the organization isn't great as they categorize by item, but not size or color. Nevertheless, I found items that I needed for an upcoming costume (and in good condition) for a fair price. This was my first time in the store. First off, it's a compete mess and things are just thrown around wherever. It also felt dirty, especially for a thrift store. One thing that was VERY noticeable when glancing around was the prices. They are GROSSLY over priced. I understand pricing with purpose but with these prices it's no wonder why it's over crowded! I used to love this thrift store! I've been going to this veterans for 15 years- since before thrifting became popular. Recently though the prices have been ridiculously high. A plain white t shirt with no brand was $10, another t shirt I liked that just had a funny character on it was $15, a men's denim shirt with no known brand was priced to me for $20, and recently i bought some boots priced at $68! They were reasonable enough to lower the price to $50 but when I got home I noticed the other boot was originally marked at $35. I know brands and I understand pricing well, and although thrifting is my favorite hobby, there have certainly been times in my life when I didn't have the money to shop elsewhere. I know for many customers this is the same case. I also donate here SO OFTEN. I'm GIVING away my clothes and goods with nothing in return and then paying for overpriced items GIVEN to them. I know it's a business but whoever is managing the costs of their DONATED goods is seriously being unreasonable. I'd much rather go down Broadway to goodwill or Salvation Army for better deals. I WOULD SPEND MORE MONEY AND TAKE MORE HOME IF THEY PRICED ITEMS AT A REASONABLE THRIFT PRICE! I have often gone to this store for various items of need but when I went to the management about being harassed by one of their employees (Rachel) I was asked to leave the store. She said I was following her around for years and that I was too old for her and then she told the management I was harassing her. She was saying some real freaky things and I was getting really worried after she gave me the middle finger because I was "looking at her" so I felt the need to take action. Rachel has a long history of doing the same thing to other men. The only thing I can thing of is that they just didn't want me in that store. As a gay male I have gone through a lot of persecution in my life but never like this. Of course I'm not interested in her . Mehhh thrift store. I've been to a few Veterans Thrift Stores in San Diego. My favorite is Team Amvets near the Airport and I've also been to the one in National City. I think this location is my least favorite. Parking is terrible. There's limited spots and you'll end up having to circle around. It's right next door to a funeral home which is scary AF! Don't wanna park on that side LOL Service wasn't all that great. I asked to look at a bag in the display and the lady took her sweet time organizing other cabinets before opening up the case. Everything you want about a thrift store delivers here. I go once a week and there's always something new to see. I find the prices to be about right with a few exceptions on items that still have the tag on them. Just because it's in new condition is no reason to mark it so high, in my opinion. They take credit cards which is nice. Don't expect any further mark downs though. I've used every tactic I have in my arsenal and they have never reduced the price any further for me. I'm a veteran of the United States Army so I'm all about supporting veterans businesses. I've been to this thrift store several times looking for classic items, and for a 1970's style party. It's a pretty organized store for a "thrift store". There isn't cluttered itemsitems all over the floor or anything like that, it is pretty clean. The prices are reasonable and they get new stuff on a regular basis. I went here recently to grab a couple of blankets for my dog's kennel and they were in good shape. This location is close to my house. It is a really big thrift shop with of course everything your heart could desire. If you look good enough there are MANY hidden treasures. The staff was nice. It was organized (being a thrift shop and organized is actually shocking) The furniture was actually in great condition, minor dirt spots but I can tell they really examine what is donated there. There's also a lot of unopened items that were donated which I thought were neat. Very organized! Clean! Parking is very tight though. DO NOT PARK at 7/11 lot. Your ass will be towed. I know people try to be all cute and think they won't get caught but ugh, don't even bother. I parked across the street right in front. Overall it was a good spot. I bought a tv stand and there was no price on it. I notice there was a price tag on the floor and thought that was the price for it. I went to go ask the assistant to see if it was the right price. He said "yes it is the price" he would help which I appreciate it. 45 bucks was the price. We paid for it So my 2 daughters picked up the glass that was on top of it. Realize there was prices that was hiding on top of the glass taped on it! Only 20!!! I ask for them for a refund and they couldn't do it. I have been donating to DAV for my entire adult life. While I've never been a retail customer, I have never been anything less than highly satisfied with their pickup and drop off services. I've got to say, imo people who one star charitable organizations that help our veterans don't value the service they gave to our country much. A few times a year my son and I cull his toys and clothing and bag and box it up for DAV. As he has gotten older he has also contributed books and DVDs as well as he ages out of them. He really enjoys this process. He pauses and says "I think someone will love this, Mama!" In November, I think donated around 14 boxes. Before his birthday in the fall, we did 12. It's just crazy how much stuff children accumulate though. Disabled American Veterans is a great organization. My father is a disabled veteran, but he's not the reason why we donate to them. My family has been giving to them for as long as I can remember. It's not about getting a tax deduction. I've never used it for that purpose, although they do give you a receipt if you want one. I use it to teach my son about giving to others what he has too much of. They are super friendly and fast about scheduling pickups. You can schedule online and often pick your day. It's your average thrift shop, kind of sloppy in some areas but you really need the patience to thrift. Luckily I wasn't in a hurry that day, but I did come up with a nice short sleeve cardigan, a vintage blazer, and an orange tunic which were all under $4 a piece. One thing I would recommend, is that if you're looking for any home furniture, whether it be new or old, they have quite the selection here. The selection at this place is hit or miss and organization is not their forte, it's pretty much just generalized, "jackets", "Sweaters", etc. but not specified "winter coats", "long or short", etc. A fews months ago when I was in town to visit, my brother took me to this location. It had been a long time since I visited this place, maybe when I was in Jr. High or High School... It has A LOT more items than it did back then and it was really busy considering that it was an early morning on a Tuesday. My favorite part of this particular visit was when I saw (in the glass case) the cutest f-ing vintage purse that was in IMMACULATE condition. The only problem that I had with it was that it was $25. I debated for about 30 mins if I was going to get it or not... Uh, I did. I couldn't pass it up. VTS does their research because when I got home, I did research of my own and found out that there are were vintage sites that sell the same purse for $50-$80. Huge store, hard parking, a bit overpriced. BUT they have a 79-99 cent section with very decent clothing! In this section I found some vintage cashmere v-neck sweaters, a clean h&m sweater, and a couple of nike windbreakers. Also an actual vintage clothing section in the back left. Good if you have an 80s themed party to attend. The back section also has a cool selection of random stuff. I saw an L-shaped bar, velvet rope, those 3-person bicycles, and a soda machine. My mom always called it "La Segunda" because she didn't want anyone to know she bought my clothes here (it's a Mexican thing) I don't come that often since I don't live in CV anymore, but when I do I notice how they overprice a lot of simple items. Some things are priced well, but some things are way too much. This is a thrift store, secondhand, previously owned/worn items. Quit trying to rip-off the poor people who shop here because it's their only option and not like the privileged hipster douche bags that flock over here. Honestly, I am kind of surprised at the low average rating this place has. Of the many thrift stores on Broadway, I try to stop by this one the most. I have always found at least one or two articles of clothing that fit me like a dream (style and size) and always find good glassware and other trinkets as solid gifts. Furthermore, I have found so many great shoes (wingtips, loafers, sperry's) at awesome prices that I have not had to buy a full price shoe in years. I will admit the lines are often problematic and the parking leaves much to be desired. They also do feature some of the most expensive book prices which is a huge minus for me. One of the better thrift stores on broadway. I came here near the tail end of a thrifting spree in south bay and I get tired easily when I have been driving and searching all day, especially when I have had no luck finding anything good. This is a pretty large shop, and nothing is that organized, but surprisingly I found a lot of good clothes. The prices are so so, some stuff was overpriced, but overall good prices, and a lot of good stuff. I will definitely be back! Parking is TERRIBLE. Lot is small. The st is obviously busy, so when there is no parking, turning around, making u turns to go around is very stressful, I had to park down the st and walk across. read more
