Due to a very poor past experience with another vet in the city, I am now very cautious and weary when taking my pets to the vet. When I learned about Vets to Go, it sounded like a less stressful option for my kitties but still, I was initially very sceptical. Dr. Laura at Vets to Go was honest, friendly and very knowledgeable. The prices were fair, she took the time with each one of my cats and got to know their personalities a bit. She's come out twice now, and both times I have only positive things to say. I will continue to use this service, especially for check ups and non-stop emergency concerns. It was definitely less stressful for all 3 of my cats and not a huge price difference compared to other clinics I've been to. I highly recommend! read more

A lady whom I could barely understand the line was so choppy gave me an appointment 6 weeks away and then someone else called back to cancel and tell me to go somewhere else because they are not able to help me. Vets to Go is a brilliant concept-basically vets that make house calls for everything from looking at an injury to annual check ups. Why is this good? I'm the owner of a leash reactive dog. In my dog's case, she enjoys playing and greeting other dogs so much that she becomes intensely frustrated when she is restrained. The result is barking, snarling and a very stressed out dog. While I continue to work with her on this, taking her to the regular vet where we can't control other variables (other dogs, small spaces) is stressful at best. So as you can imagine I was quite intrigued about this service. The other added bonus is that they do appointments in the evenings and on weekends, 7 days a week (depending on availability). And yes, they do cats too, which is how I found out about them :) The vet arrived promptly, at our exact appointment time (already had one up on most regular vet visits with that). She was friendly, let both my dogs check her out. She took down a brief history on the patient and asked if there were any concerns or issues. She then did a thorough exam (just as much if not more than they'd get at the vets office). My dog rolled around the kitchen floor, basking in the attention, occasionally dolling out kisses. At one point, she was so relaxed she dozed off. She then received her annual shots without so much as a twitch and earned several hypoallergenic dog biscuits for good behaviour. I then got a thorough rundown of her health and a recommendation on a dental food product I could get at any pet store to keep her teeth clean-no hard selling of products! She also let me know about optional vaccines without being pushy. They even bring a portable credit card/debit machine! The cost of the visit was the same as a regular vet visit too. She let me know all records would be emailed within the week and I could always ask for copies if I lost the email later. When the visit was done, she asked if our other dog could join us so they could both have treats and see each other was okay. They loved that ! I mean, who doesn't love a cookie bearing visitor that scratches your belly?The whole visit was less than 30 minutes and zero stress. Whether you have a perfect dog (or cat) or one that needs a little work like mine, I highly recommend this service. read more

On Sunday I discovered that my cat was very ill. My best friend's mom uses Vets to Go and she recommended I call them, as their costs are lower due to the lack of overhead. She also gave me a card worth $50 off my first visit. I rarely go to the vet because my cats are indoor cats, and when I do - it's often stressful for the one that was ill. He was a nervous Nellie and didn't really like strangers, especially in a clinical type environment. I called Vets to Go on Monday morning and they booked me in for 3 pm. A bit later I got a call and they asked if I minded if the vet came earlier. (I never have an issue with that! haha.) Dr.Jody came promptly at about 5 to 2. She came in and came downstairs and looked at Winston and diagnosed him right away. The diagnosis was awful, but Dr. Jody was very professional. She let us know about all of our options, she made several phone calls to get me as much information as she possibly could so that my ex and I could make the right decision regarding the well-being of our cat. Unfortunately we decided to go the rout of euthanization. Dr. Jody was amazing. She comforted our cat, and gave us words of comfort and encouragement. I've had to put a pet down before - but never a pet that was solely my pet. It's always been the childhood family pet. So it wasn't my decision or my responsibility. This was very difficult and it could have been much worse if the vet was cold and uncaring, but Dr. Jody was awesome and made me feel a lot better. I highly recommend Vets To Go, especially if you have nervous pets. But also because they typically cost less, and they're awesome. I will be using them for my other cat, and my dog. We have had 3 visits with Dr. Tegan from Vets to Go now for our cockapoo puppy and we have been nothing but very impressed and satisfied. It is very easy to make an appointment either through phone or email and their availability is great as we have always had weekend appointments in the mornings. Not having a car, having the vet come to you is not only convenient, it saves us the hassle of having to wait with a stressed puppy in an unfamiliar room and have our puppy comfortable in his own space. Dr. Tegan is always prompt and we never feel rushed during the appointment. Dr. Tegan was not only very friendly and great with our puppy, but also took the time to answer all our questions as well as educate us on various health issues we would not otherwise have asked about. We always learn something new during our vet visits. The price is affordable and it includes a nail trim and anal gland expression as needed. After the visit, we receive an emailed report and there is never a hassle getting out questions answered. We will definitely keep using Vets to Go and we highly recommend them. read more

My cat is terrible with vets. No, really, she's bad. And if you want to challenge me on that, I'll take it! Taking my kitty to the vet has become a source of stress for us both - I actually hadn't taken her for four years because I couldn't face the ordeal. Since she's an indoor cat, not too much of an issue. But she's almost 8 years old and I know she should get checked out since she's moved into senior territory. I figured that having a mobile vet come to my house might make Twixie a little more comfortable and eliminate some of the stress. Boy, was I wrong - but not the fault of the vet. Christi came in (a little late but I'm terminally late so I was okay with that), we did a history & background on my kitty. And then she approached Twix. Managed to do a flashlight in the eyes before the hissing and swatting started. I won't go into the gory details, but, as expected, she went ballistic. I've got a couple of scratches however we did manage to stick her with the two vaccinations. No physical exam was possible. I was ready to give up a couple of times but Christi was very patient and calming. She obviously has a lot of experience working with difficult animals. She confirmed that sedation will be the only way we'll get a physical exam or blood work from my kitty. The entire visit took about an hour. And I was shocked that there's no charge for "emotional damages" on the bill for having to deal with my cat. I'm not 100% that we'll go this route again because I think the trauma of being "attacked" in her own home, plus having the dog hear the whole episode from another room, was too much stress for my household. But for anyone who has a nervous pet I'd completely recommend it - definitely worth a try and likely takes most of the stress out of the experience for other animals (and owners). The vet was very pleasant to deal with and explained everything in detail that I would understand. You could see the vet loved being with the animals and loved what she does for a living. My review... called them to see if they can fix an ear hematoma... basically that is when a blood vessel breaks due to head shaking and a blood blister forms....the simple prompt solution is to insert a needle and drain it to relieve pressure and then it heals naturally. Sometimes it needs to be drained a few times. It takes five minutes to do that.Usually its best attended to promptly so it heals easier....later on its harder to fix. According to some vets its very complex, needs anasthetic, surgery, stitches and is expensive. ... I was born on a farm....not yesterday and havent recently fallen off a pumpkin truck... First...a house call is $175 and a normal vet visit is about $80-90. You cant save cost by going to them....they have an address but no office. And lastly even if you pay double the price of a vet.... they want immediate cash....if you are on a limited income....think retired senior that can pay at month end....sorry....you are out of luck. So much for all the care, compassion and wonderful dedicated care for your pet that they advertise online. The care is apparently relative to the size of your wallet, its got nothing to do with what needs to be done. They would rather ignore the problem the animal has instead of waiting a couple weeks to get paid....yes... so after talking to them....guess which place my dog will NEVER visit ! Also...so much for the wonderful glowing reviews I read before calling. And....when I persistently make enough calls to find a vet that cares more about the animal than their own wallet....guess where my dog will be visiting to get health care.... That is the vet I will trust.... read more

This service is a god send. My vet ( Dr. Jody) took her time with my kitties, was compassionate, kind and thorough. Not only did she answer all my questions - she took time to review my cats current diet, recommending some better options and summarizing everything we discussed in a comprehensive receipt. For those of us who understand the stress of travelling with your pet to the vet that alone is worth paying a wee bit more for the mobile visit. That said, it was excellent value - 2 cats, both complete exams, nail trims and one vaccine each came to $267.00 - Excellent value. I don't have a car, so it's very very convenient for me to have a vet come to me! I had Dr. Erin come see me and my boy, Angel. He is currently in renal failure, and I will have VtG come back when it's time. In the meantime, Dr. Erin was very helpful with extra suggestions... and not pushing me to add more tests, even when I asked about them. I also like that they don't sell vet food (though this wasn't an issue/concern for this visit), so they aren't going to push that food on pet owners. read more

I don't know what Vets To Go would charge but the best one I have found was the Nanton Veterinary Clinic in Nanton, Alberta They saved me over a thousand dollars. Highly recommend. A convenient and wonderful service. Absolutely brilliant. We lost our first furbaby, a cat on May 30, 2014. We noticed he had lost some weight and made a call at the beginning of the work week to see our vet. She set up an appointment for Thursday. By Saturday of the same week we had no choice but to put our cat down due to severe kidney disease. We were shocked by how quickly everything seemed to occur and surprised by how fast his health had deteriorated. Our vet was wonderful in handling the death with us. We have two other furbabies, Sophie our bullmastiff and Fergus our other cat. While at the SPCA Dog Jog I noticed that Vets To Go had a booth and I went over to talk to Dr. Wendy. This was a week after we had lost our cat. The pain of losing him was very real and Dr. Wendy was very patient in answering all of my questions. I inquired about the services because I know we never want to have to have our pets' last moments in a clinic again. And both our two remaining pets are traumatized by going in the car to see the vet. Fergus has lost some weight since May and both my husband and I panicked. We knew our vet had just left the clinic that we go to so we decided that we would try Vets To Go. It was much less daunting for both Fergus and I to have Dr. Kristi come to the house. We're still waiting for the results but I will say that Dr. Kristi was efficient, answered all of my questions, tried to put Fergus at ease and gave him breaks in between the check-up routine. Having just gone through vet costs, the same service was received when we took our cat to the vet in May. The house visit was less expensive but comparable. I'm not going to lie, I was recently on yelp and I was researching international car services. I wasn't so keen to trust the companies that had all 5 stars (presuming that the company only posted the highest ratings - obviously I'm unaware of how the system works). I feel that I'm strict with my reviews and I don't often give 5 stars but even after the first visit I have to say that this is the way to go for those pets that just despise going to the vet. I woke up to a very sick cat. I panicked as we just got him a month ago and did not know any vets in Calgary yet. I jumped on Yelp (and google) to see if I could read some reviews and find a vet that wouldn't break the bank. Vets To Go is amazing! I had an appt scheduled the same day, Dr. Jody was on time, nice and so good to my cat Oscar. She did a thorough exam right there, gave him the shots he needed, left me with antibiotics and great instructions. She even carries a portable debit / credit machine! This was all done in 30 mins and at the end of the day I will receive all my instructions, follow up and receipt via email. This is a brilliant business concept, one that is so needed in the animal world. My cat did not have to suffer throguh a traumatizing car ride or vets office and it saved me time too! The only thing that my cat did not like was the thermometer up his butt (can't blame him). I will use this service again and again and again... and encourage others to do the same! Good concept because of convenience, but would not recommend this service beyond shots or simple checkups. Our dog had a limp on a Thursday, which didn't go away for 3 days so I had Vets to Go come by and have a look. 30 minutes and $250 later I was given a "best guess" at diagnosis and a referral to one of the most expensive vets in the city to verify diagnosis. Vets to go simply does not have the equipment with them to provide a proper diagnosis, yet charges premium prices. I definitely wish in my case I would've just went to a real veterinary office in the first place. While Dr Jody was very nice, and I'm sure a decent vet, I could only recommend this sort of service for very simple treatments such as shots or a quick checkups. read more

I was afraid to write an honest review until now. My dog sadly passed away in the spring and so I feel safe sharing my experiences with Vets to Go. They were excellent the first two visits. However, the last visit was traumatic for both my dog and myself. What's worst was that visit was from the owner of the company. What went wrong? I noticed the van outside our residence and offered that we begin early the Vet was snappy with me and condescending reminding me of our start time and indicating that she was busy. When she entered the home her energy was off which spooked my dog. In fact, he was so fearful of her that he wouldn't even let her examine him. She was not patient and seemed annoyed. We attempted again in the yard and my dog just avoided her. Despite these efforts and their lack of success, I was charged the full price for an examination and home visit. I later called and explained my disappointment and asked for the invoice to be clarified. The response was slow and vague by the accountant, so I called the vet/owner and asked to have the exam fees waived as no services were rendered. She then told me that because she came to the house she had to charge for the visit and for sedatives which the recommended in the future. She also told me that she discussed my dog with the Vet clinic that we frequented from 2009-2012. She also mentioned my previous Vets by name and said they knew each other very well. This felt invasive and threatening. Why contact our previous Vet about my dog who became too fearful of his visits which is what prompted us to use Vets to Go in the first place? She also refused to issue a refund on services that were not rendered. To add insult to injury, she also recommended that I find another vet! This is why I have hesitated to write this after the incident because I was fearful that she would contact the next Vet that I found and speak negatively about my dog hence jeopardizing our chances of finding a patient Vet for my fearful pup. Luckily, I found an excellent rural vet to serve my dog in his golden years. I now have two other rescue puppies who love both their in town Vet and the same rural Vet that treated my late pup with patience, love and compassion. I do not recommend Vets to Go; the owner is rude and impatient and the prices are unreasonable. It's obvious that their bottom-line is more important than customer experience. read more

We had to use the Paws to Rest service that Vets to Go offers for our 10 year old wiener dog Otis yesterday evening. Otis passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, rather than scared in a cold and unfamiliar vet's office. Although it was a difficult experience, Jody was great throughout the visit, taking extra time to answer my 4 year old nephew's questions about what she was doing, making sure Otis was comfortable, and excusing herself at exactly the right time. Jody was gentle and kind to Otis, accommodating his blindness and making sure he knew she was there. She was compassionate, but also very professional. I would recommend Vets to Go, and definitely Jody, for end of life care. read more

We have a senior cat who is really relaxed, except for once a year when she has to go to the vet. She becomes very aggressive, unpredictable and out of control. At our regular vet we resorted to putting her into the gas box to knock her out prior to examining her. We thought that a home visit might calm her down but unfortunately, she was just as wild as ever. Our vet was a real trooper and after three attempts managed to get a sedative in her. Even with the sedative she continued to be aggressive (though dopey aggressive) and we managed to give her a vaccine, get blood work done and almost complete a full exam. The good: - no car rides - lots of availability for appointments and really convenient - vet was great, answered all my questions and spent a lot of time with us - actually being in the room with your pet and able to see how all the procedures and exams are done was really interesting and informative The not sure/not good: - kitty was no less calm than the vets office - injection sedative vs gas, seems to take a long time to wear off and left kitty groggy and wobbly all day where with the gas she returned to normal within an hour or so - getting the sedative injection in was a challenge and took multiple attempts - I wonder if just knocking her out completely might allow for a more thorough exam and less stress on the animal (with our cat specifically) I am not sure if we will use Vets To Go again, we were hoping to eliminate the need for a sedative and that was not possible. That being said, the vet was great and we would love to work with her again, but will be weighing our options for gas vs. injection sedative until her next annual visit. read more

Dr Laura and Dr Wendy both came to our house today for routine check ups and vaccinations. We have a HIGHLY anxious spaniel and these two doctors took the time needed to keep him calm and build trust. Would highly recommend Vets to Go. It's convenient and less distressing having an inhome visit additionally they believe that owners can make informed decisions about their pets care ie filling prescriptions when and where etc. Excellent Veterinary Care for a reasonable price. read more

We recently had to say goodbye to our lovely dog of 14 years, and we couldn't bring ourselves to do it in a cold vet office. Enter Vets to Go. We did a lot of searching, and this seemed like the best option for us. We had a first appointment, and the vet was kind, caring, and comforting. She was so great with our dog, as well as our young cat, and provided the information we needed while doing a full exam (with no waiting room!). A week later, we had to go ahead with the euthanasia appointment, and Dr. Paty was wonderful. You could tell she really cared about animals, and that while it was hard for us (as well as her), this was the right decision. I can't even imagine how difficult it would have been to have our final appointment elsewhere, and while we don't look forward to ever doing it again, we know we'll be in good hands with Vets to Go. We will also be switching our cat over to Dr. Paty and Vets to Go, as the convenience, comparable cost, and friendliness cannot be beat. read more
