Via Paratransit was a 5 star rating until they suspended my daughter's service on July 27-August 3, 2026. All because she had too many so called no shows, which caused her to have to use another transportation service and made it hard to get important things done for her. This is the first time it's happened. I believe they should at least give more chances for missed rides, to at least 5 no shows instead of 3. She also missed rides back in June because the weather was very hot. And I thought the automated call says during hot weather days to stay indoors until the ride arrives for the hot weather protocol. That's what she does until I can see the ride and go tell her that the ride is here. Then I try my best to help assist her to the van. She doesn't like to wait outside and feels uncomfortable waiting at the curb entrance on Pinn rd. And we live in the middle of the apartment complex, not near the front of the apartments. That's another reason why she misses the rides sometimes. read more

While I am very grateful for VIA as I do not own a car, right now, as I sit on a bench at the North Star TransitCenter, three males affiliated with VIA, at least one of them a bus driver per their conversation, are having a profanity-laced conversation right next to me. REALLY???? If you need VIA trans...do yourself a favor and DON'T DO IT!!! Now let me get this straight...your a person in need of Via trans for you to either get to a doctors appt...go buy food...OR work because you want to be independent...Now mind you...you decided that HEY!!! I want to have you guys come at a certain time everyday for so I don't have to call to schedule something redundantly. Now get this guys...your told...You have to wait 2 weeks to call to have it done and THEN you have to wait ANOTHER 2 MONTHS for them to even THINK about doing it...now come on...mind you they can say they will not do it...I mean you have to laugh at this to keep from crying... I truly feel bad for anyone who has to use this service...not to mind you that you tell them what time you have to be at a certain place and they get the person there 3 to 4 hours early and leave them standing in the dark ALONE!!!! did I forget to mention this person has a disability and ANYTHING can happen to them...and this doesnt happen 1 time oh no it has happened SEVERAL times and all you get is a "oh we are sorry" and they move on to the next person!!! It is frustrating and sad that if you have a disability you are treated so poorly and NOTHING is done...your lucky if a supervisor even bothers to call you back and if they do all you get is an apology that goes no where when its done again. Lets not talk about the driving and you being on the VIA when it collides with another vehicle and your beyond freaked out and no one from the company bothers to make sure your ok...Like I said DON"T DO IT!!! read more

I loathe the bus, but it was the only way for me to get to downtown San Antonio without getting charged an arm & a leg. Anyone taking the bus needs to pay attention to the schedule because some of the routes do not operate on certain days. I got on the wrong bus the first time I rode this thing. Via Metropolitan Transit - The bus stop on Commerce and Alamo - San Antonio, Texas

Via has been a disaster for us. We tried to ride them from our hotel to Alamo area. It was pretty simple going to downtown. Trying to get back to the hotel was ridiculous Our pickup point was closed. We received directions to the nearest alternative pick up. It was not there. We called the phone number listed at a pickup point. He was very little help I told him that we were not from here and did not know our way around. We wandered around another hour. Finally at one of the stops a Via employee Isadora Delgado Jr actually took us to the correct stop. Thank goodness for him or we might have wandered around all evening. I hope they don't treat other senior citizens from out of town like this. read more

I took a line up bus w/a transfer. It was rejected. I hadn't ridden the bus in years but it was easier route to the rodeo. I had no cash on hand and I asked if I could pay with debit and was told:No. The bus driver told me to ask the passengers on board and I told him if this was a regular thing? I asked if this was the public service ? He got upset and told me to get off the bus! He was obviously tired, rude and unprofessional. Line up bus 24. Live and learn. Carry extra change. read more

San Antonio Mass Transit! This is the only option for public transportation in San Antonio. Via does a good job of covering downtown, but when you get out to the further edges of town, service can be spotty. They really need to lay in a lot more routes. I like taking the Via- the buses are comfortable, generally somewhat safe, air conditioned, and have free wifi. The price of $1.30 per ride (regular adult fare) is quite reasonable, considering that you can sit back, relax and leave the driving to Via. But the lack of routes can make some trips infuriatingly long. I wanted to take the bus out to UTSA. It'd take 3.5 hours each way. Forget it. I don't live out in Corpus, I can do better hiking! If they had a better way to do it with express routes, I'd be more likely to ride. The transit centers need some work. There's a bunch of underutilized space, where they could put in coffee kiosks, or phone chargers or something to make the area more hospitable. I've always had a good experience with the drivers. They have been friendly and proficient. The buses are generally clean, and everything is filmed from every angle with CCTV cameras. It's especially nice that every bus now has two bike racks on the front. You can track the schedule on Google Maps with the 'transit' option for up to the minute info on whether the bus is on time, delayed, etc, along with route information. If you lack that option, you can text the bus stop # to the number on the sign to get current route info. read more

I love riding public transportation when I visit new cities. Today I rode the number 54 bus, just for a few stops. The fare would have been $1.35 for a one way, the the machine was broken, so it was free. Google maps helped me find the right bus and stop and even told me the bus was delayed, which was good for me since I would have missed it if it was on time! All the buses have wi-fi now according to a sign on the bus, but my ride was so short, I didn't get on the wi-fi. The bus was clean, not too full, and trying to make up list time. Surely, if you had to ride the bus everyday, it could be a drag but my experience was pretty good as an alternative to walking or ridesharing. read more

I'd give them 0 stars if I could. Today I rode the 611. The driver completely missed the entire neighborhood Springdale and Valley High. Never in my life had I ever seen a driver so incompetent and dangerous. She asked me and the other passenger for directions. We tried helping her by explaining what area she missed. The driver was looking at some directions on a sheet of paper while not focusing on the road. She also refused to let a passenger off a 611 stop by the circle K because her excuse was it's to dangerous. The driver specifically told me she wasn't taking me to the Walmart 611 stop because she needed to turn around and get back on track. So instead she dropped me off at the intersection as she claimed it was too dangerous for the other passenger. I called the VIA customer number to report her as she was unsafe and a danger to the roads. The operator said there is nothing she can do because the supervisor is sick and the other is off for fiesta holiday so I have to call ba k Monday. The driver has to have a field supervisor. Made no sense. Horrible and disgusting. read more

I'm disabled and pay full adult fare price. I use the buses on days I have someone to come with me on the bus. VIA I am so impressed by the drivers you have. They are pleasant, kind, compassionate in helping with instructions or just help getting on stairs. They notify me most of the time when it is my stop, so I don't miss it. I thought Austin had the best bus drivers, but I have changed my mind. Mostly because your drivers make getting around northeast (14 bus) area easier. $1.45 includes transfers and $1.30 without I appreciate the affordability. Going downtown to the museums is easy and I appreciate the audio message with the street names. I have only a small request. Can you have all bus sign with Braille and audio Annoucements of stops on all buses in SanAntonio? This would make a valuable-difference in many low hearing and visually impaired riders. As we get older, our sight and hearing gets pretty bad. The audio announcements is loud enough to be heard without having to turn up my hearing aids. Thank you VIA. read more

I took my son to New Orleans 3 or 4 years ago, for 4 days of layover. In a matter of 30 minutes or so, after studying the New Orleans bus system, I felt confident I could maneuver about town without a problem. Having lived in San Antonio since 83, riding VIA regularly, I can't criticize enough this new website that they continue to use. This so called 'new' website evidently is for geniuses because I've been trying to Use it to get a trip planner Off and On for 3 or 4 years now, and by gosh I've YET to punch in an address and a destination and simply Get a Blasted Route Planner. You are sent in loops of nothingness. To the point you forget what the heck it is you came in to do. I've cursed the webmaster, sworn, sent email after email and still, this same new website that can't possibly help anyone. Since it's incapable of Suggesting a route plan because it doesn't have the address in its system, it suggest you go to nearest bus stop. How the hell do I know where the nearest bus stop is? To the webmaster at VIA, you're an idiot. FYI, on the old system, you could punch in where you were starting. Where you wanted to Get To. Then, UP came 2 or 3 suggestions.................even if you had to walk the last half mile. Get a Clue, get into a field you can succeed at, because VIA website is a convoluted galactically stupid junk pile of incessantly useless steps to follow. A note, I've ridden VIA a lot, and trust me, there aren't a lot of geniuses riding VIA. It might cut down on operator time to actually have a website that helps the average VIA rider. read more

We just got our senior ID's and are looking forward to using them on weekends. Free bus fare is hard to beat!! And just pocket change for any other time is great too. Plus, bus passes (day, week or month) are 1/2 off. What a deal! read more
