Opportunistically we stopped at Vic's for dinner on a week night when my partner and I had to come to Sunbury for a couple of errands. This is not the restaurant you would expect to find in the outer suburbs and would indeed fit in extremely well down in Lygon street. But we sure are glad it has popped out here. Delicious Italian food, ample serves, attentive staff, great menu, reasonably priced. And you can take your leftovers home in a soggy bag. We'll be back! read more

Lovely, lovely attentive staff serving great traditional Italian food. What I love about these guys are they are never put out if you don't have a booking and are always willing to adjust ingredients in the dishes (to vegetarian) no muss no fuss. read more

Woah, Sunbury. Where did this come from? For a town I wouldn't usually pick for a fine dining experience you've certainly shown me a light at the end of the tunnel. Vic's boasts a large, modern, well decorated space with plenty of seating available, catering to large groups or date nights. The only downfall for me of the atmosphere was that the lighting was seriously bright on the inside and I think it would do a world of good to dim those lights slightly to make it feel a little more intimate and make everyone look a little more attractive. The staff were really great and attentive. We were greeted at the door and shown to our table and once seated were asked if we'd like to order any drinks. Once our drinks came out we were asked if we'd like to order food and we didn't have to wait very long for our food to arrive either. We were checked on a few times for drink top ups and to clear entree plates but it didn't feel as though we were being crowded. The menu offered plenty to choose from in entrees, mains, pasta and pizza dishes and everything was well priced for the experience & the quantities served. We shared some seriously tasty garlic bread and the most buttery soft, melt in your mouth calamari I've had in a long time. For my main I chose fettucine carbonara because I'd seen it when googling the menu the day before and had it stuck in my mind and I certainly was not disappointed. The serving was huge and the sauce was creamy and flavoursome. We didn't have enough room to fit in dessert but I almost convinced myself to give it a crack when I saw a waitress walk past with a creme brulee. I noticed also that they to takeaway AND delivery which I think is great if you want some beautiful quality food without feeling like you need to get dressed up just to enjoy it. Booked a table of almost 20 for a surprise birthday party. We arrived and were told the table wasn't ready. Waited outside on the street for half an hour (meanwhile sending text messages to try and delay the birthday person). After half an hour we asked again if our table was ready and were reluctantly let inside the restaurant, but the table wasn't ready for another 15 minutes so we all stood around. We got to the table in the nick of time for the surprise but then waited another half an hour before anyone took our orders. The food was delicious and plentiful. I do understand that it was Saturday night, but perhaps you should not take bookings if you can't cope with them? read more

This restaurant is almost always packed, which when passing by you would assume means there is good food, service and quality. And while this is mostly true, it is very pricey and the food can be quiet bland depending on what you order. Also, like stated before, it can get very busy and the tables fill up very quickly, meaning it can get a bit squishy. The waiters are almost always lovely and polite, which always adds a star. All in all, food isn't the best, and it really is given too good of a reputation for what it's worth. Not enough bang for your buck. read more

Vics is constantly busy for dinner. 6pm on a Wednesday and we saw people get turned away without a booking. It's hard to imagine why because, there isn't anything too special about Vic's, it's just another pizza/pasta restaurant. But it's the ambience and atmosphere why people flock here. It's busy loud and you feel like staying as long as you can. But you won't because of lack luster service and inconsistent food. One great pizza seems to make up for 2 weeks of average visits. read more

Very good food and great service. I had pasta in a spicy red sauce, can't remember exactly which combo but it was great. I tried the chicken parmigiana which was pretty good but it did lack sauce. My dad and girlfriend love the other chicken dish in a white sauce but I forget the name. They had a large variety of cheesecake flavors that looked great but we didn't try any. This restaurant is a true gem in Sunbury because most of them are not good at all. read more

I had my 18th here! We booked for a table of 5 on Easter Saturday and we were SO well served. The numbers soon trailed off, and the ambiance was so lovely- and the staff were incredible! (I wish that could be put in italics). There was one waitress called Amelia and she was SO incredible. It felt like home, and like comfort. read more

Normally they are good, on one particular occasion we ordered an eye fillet, and I was served a rib eye, when I refused to take it, the waiter returned with the rib eye and told me it would be 40mins to cook the correct meal. I simply told them that I ordered a eye fillet so I want an eye fillet. He came back and told me it would only take 15mins. This is poor customer service and I'm sure the owners would be horrified. BTW, the eye fillet that finally arrived was delicious. read more

The service was some of the worst I've ever seen! I felt I was surrounded by clumsy waiters constantly spilling drinks and smashing glasses and I cannot believe how many drunk customers were around. Plus some old woman kept yelling and hovering over us like a vulture, it was all very unnerving. To top it off, my pasta was uncooked and my boyfriend's pizza was cold. If you're in Sunbury avoid Vic's like the plague. It's horribly overpriced and just overall disappointing. read more

Consistently great food and value for money are what make this restaurant so successful. It can be a little noisy but that's because it's so popular and always full, especially at dinner times. read more
