A very well run school. The school was granted last year with over $60000 worth of new books from…read moreindigo!!. The building has an elevator for students with physical limitaions. The large playground is very engaging for students of all abilities, which includes a new oodle swing which is suitable for people with physical limitations, and a new slide is on its way as their parent council raised funds to purchase last year. They also have raised garden beds that the students plant different plants in . The staff go above and beyond to engage their students by providing free after school clubs throughout the year. Champlain School teaches the 7 Grandfather teaching to all students and teach their students to be proud of their cultural backgrounds, and inclusive to all. They even hold community pot luck dinners about 2x a year. This school has a free breakfast program for all students who want breakfast, if the student is late they r welcome to have breakfast during morning recess. Students r also offered a fruit or vegetable snack every morning (courtesy of the Canadian Nutrition Council). Parents are welcomed into the school everyday where they could spend time in a staffed Parent room where there are resources available for them to access, or just to connect with other parents and have a cup of coffee. The parent room also offers different activities for parents with preschoolers who need some adult interaction, thats been a lifesaver for some Moms. Champlain students produce amazing work, some of which was recognized by the Canadian Rights Museum in Winnipeg! Awesome! The school is very secure with a 'buzz in' system and security cameras throughout, including outside. Keep up the good work Champlain!!

i went to golden gate middle school to talk to…read morethe principal mr d kalynchuk to discuss the matter that was brought to my attention by my son of bullying i told him this was a serious matter i fealt as if he was trying to avoid this conversation he called me into his office and i told him about my concern how my son was a victim of abuse bullying and his life was threatened in his school he said who was bullying him i then said the kids name who was bullying him him last year and the first day of school this year this child said to my son im going to make everyone hate you and you will feel like you are alone and have no one this trouble maker was a boy if his word the school dictates that there is a zero tolerance of bullying in there school and to me and in my eyes i see the bulling at about 90 percent the school practices this code of conduct and everyday bullies are not dealt with and this school does not follow there code of conduct like they preach if you say you are 0 tolerance then show the people that you are zero tolerance in a action by doing so saying it and doing it is two different things the principal responded that my son was not innocent and had trouble last year with a kid he did not mention that kids name the way i fealt by the way he responded was he was not taking it seriously he was trying to make me feel like it was my kids fault all death threats in todays day should be taken seriously he had the addasity to say they are just words he was trying to turn it around he was not wanting his school to look bad he was trying to cover it up and difuse it he was making it sound like my son is to blame for being bullied but i gave him the bennifit of the doubt and left on my way home i talked to my son about the incedent the principal brought up in the office and my son told me the story and to my surprise i found out that my son and the child that is bullying him the ring leader instigated my son to break another childs snow fort last year with him so then i knew that child had a history of pressuring other children to bully whoever he chooses to hurt a history of being a ring leader some time after that my son and that child were no longer friends thank god and the ring leader decided to bring on a new group of friends and use these friends as he used my son to now bully my son one of the kids in the kids group then told my son stay sway from us or we will kill you the very next day my son was called into the principals office to discuss his side of the story of what was going on he started to minimalize it wierd i thought what kind of person would do that my son told me that he told the principal the next day and he said to my son that he was in the wrong here when my son is the one being bullied how can the one being bullied by 12 kids or more be in the wrong he said he would talk to the kids involved to my son later that day he asked my son what he said back to one of the herasiing children and again said my kid was in the wrong and there is repurcursions for saying things and he said here is the thing sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me is this the way you talk to a victim that has been bullied a principal who is there to protect children you tell him to take the abuse is this right is this the way schools are in winnipeg and one day later after that he said again you have to deal with the repurcutions of what you did last year which was he was pure pressured by the bully so he could fit in so he broke a snow fort with the instagator does a child have to die or commit suicide for schools to learn that they are not protecting the children like they state to be bullying has been going on for 50 plus years in schools they need to come up with bigger punishment to children that get involved in bullying a child gets a death threat and there is no repercussions to this child unprofessional
