My mom had an appointment for 9:50 am, we checked her in at 9:30 am. She was able to get seen with the first two things (scans and dilation of eyes) pretty quick but it was a long wait to see the doctor after. I understand places get busy but every time I've had to come here, it's usually a 2 to 3 hour visit. I had to be at work by 2:30 pm but have to leave about an hour before to get there and also have to drop my mother off after the appointment, I always forget it takes hoouurrss to get everything done here. Cataract surgery on both eyes - couldn't have asked for better service either time. I continue follow up care at VEC and sometimes I have to wait for my appointment longer than I like, but I always feel as if I was treated with the utmost care and always a complete exam that is not rushed. My follow up care has been with Dr. Majed and she always asks pertinent questions about me since my last visit. I feel like I am important to the staff here at VEC. read more

I had an appointment today at 3:00pm at Victoria Eye Center. I waited one hour. A technician finally called my name . She an eye test, took some notes and left. I felt she was rude. After 30 minutes Dr Mcquire walked in. He Never ask me about my Diabetes. Told me my eyes were dry and to soak them in hot water. He gave me a prescription for glasses and walked out. When I was examined for cataract surgery, they told me that they spotted the beginning of macular degeneration in my left eye and that there was a free program that I could participate in. That would pay 100% of the cost. Then suddenly after a couple of treatments they treated me again in March and April, but did not inform me that the program that did not come out of my pocket had ended. They had waited until there were two treatments And then told me that I owed them over $800 for those treatments and I would be expected to pay it even though they didn't notify me until then that the program had been canceled now they're trying to charge me interest if I don't pay them with 121 days so my bill will go from $884.61, to $1347.56. They know that I can't pay this bill on top of everything. My husband is going through stage four cancer treatment would eat up everyone's money I was under the impression that these treatments would be free and instead they got $800 worth of a bill under my belt and decided to tell me the program had been canceled and that I owe them money for the treatments that I was informed for free How unfair is this? When I tried to talk to the billing department, she was rude and kept telling me that they were unhappy that the program had been canceled too, but I owed them money. I made a complaint to the Texas ophthalmology board and I'm waiting to hear back. This is horrible. I would not go back to them. I will never go back to them because I can't trust them.i have since found out this is a major complaint to legal aid services. Please for your eye health and pocket book avoid them. read more

My husband has been going to this facility since December and we have had no problems. The wait wasn't too long and the staff was and still friendly. However, I have been put off the last few visits. Considering it's a medical facility, the staff and nurses do not wear masks. My husband's dr put out a notice that his patients wear a mask- patients- yes Staff-no We were there this past Tuesday at 2 and I've never seen it like this. People were pouring in until both lobbies were full and some people were standing bc there were no more chairs. I asked about our appointment and we were told it would be an hour and half to two hour wait! Very disappointed! How can they justify this wait time! Apparently too many people were scheduled at the same time. I feel bad for the elderly that have to sit and wait! This is unacceptable and I'll be calling the office manager about this. read more

I went in November of last year and seen Dr. Majeed, first of all she wanted to argue with me about prediabetes and diabetes, then after my exam gave me a new prescription for glasses. I paid no attention to the prescription because after all she is the doctor and she should know what she is telling the tech to put on it right. Well fast forward to yesterday and today when I tried to get it filled and found out that she did not put my bi-focal add on the script. So this yes could have been a tech error but she was so laser focused on arguing with me and my husband about if there was a such thing as prediabetes or not she didn't tell her to put it on the script. Then I called them yesterday and told them about it and they faxed it to the place where I was getting it filled only to fax the year before's script! So then the tech at the place I was at called them and they again said oh we will fax it so they did, the one without the bi-focal, so again we are on the phone this time she asked if they could just tell us what the add was so we could get the order filled so I could go on my day since this was the second day I was there trying to do the same darn thing! This is the worse service I have ever gotten from them and IF I do go back to them and that is a big IF I will not see Dr. Majeed again! read more

The facility is beautiful and seems clean, but I did have concerns. Majority of staff and customers are walking around without masks. Unvaccinated staff is walking around with out masks. Conversation I overheard: Old man: I have my shots I'm gonna take my mask off too. Do you have your shots? Maskless female employee: No, I have a strong immune system I trust myself. I think I'll make it. I practice good hand washing ‍ This is supposed to be a facility focused on eye health, does this woman really not know that masks are for the protection of others, not yourself. Most of the clients I saw were elderly, she could be infecting elderly people with COVID and not know it. Someone could be hospitalized or worse! I also overheard that they do not take insurance for glasses, that they are asking people to pay upfront and ask their insurance to reimburse them. My thoughts were I'm so glad I wasn't trying to get glasses from here, and are they just being lazy and not wanting to deal with insurance? I went in for a LASIK evaluation with a woman I'm assuming is "Arnel Alcasabas" because that's who my appointment card said it would be with. I'm assuming that was her name because she never introduced herself and was not wearing a name tag of any kind. She was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. I did not end up qualifying for LASIK because my prescription is too high, they offered me another option but it was a little too invasive for me to consent to. Which is fine, I will continue using my contacts and glasses. This was my first time going there, and overall I wasn't impressed. read more

My first visit was lengthy because I needed cataract surgery. I saw the Doctor after about 2 hours. The first surgery was scary and nurses were chatting and laughing while I wait with my eyes closed for the surgery to start. The hard part was waiting over an hour to see another doctor who checked me after surgery. The same wait happened after my checkup after a week. The same wait time happened after my second surgery. I was there from a little before 6 am until 7:30 am, then breakfast until 9 am, and then waited one hour to get checked. I will try again for my last check-up and if the wait time is this long, I will never return. My eyes are fine but the stress is unnecessary if the appointments are scheduled properly. Previously my insurance has worked at this eye center. They contacted me that it was time for an appointment and I made the appointment some weeks before and then went in. They said they would check the insurance. I paid the usual copay when leaving and then they sent me a bill for the remaining cost inferring that the insurance (Superior Optical) wouldn't pay it. Had been a patient with them for several years. Have to tell you that the doctor seem competent. Had no problem with the technical portion, but the business people are not good. If the insurance wasn't going to work then they should warn the patient that it going to be out of pocket. I am not happy. What should have cost me $20 is going to cost at least $80. Got to believe this is a patient trap since they had plenty of time to check my insurance. read more

I visited the Cuero location and found it very professional, well-run, and I very much liked Dr. Caia Homerstad. She was friendly. thorough and approachable. I was seen on time and had great service from the 2 techs/assistants that I worked with. I will admit to having some reservation at first, thinking maybe I should go to Victoria to have the full range of service and I was sadly mistaken. My experience was great and I am glad to have found a great place in my newly adopted home. read more

The staff is absolutely awesome. I was counseled on how to use my vision benefits before I was seen by the doctor. I have been to four different eye centers in the last four years. Each visit was a disaster. I received inaccurate prescriptions and the wrong type of contact lenses. Dr. McGuire solved my problem. He found the medical reason behind my vision issues and within two months, I should be able to wear contacts and actually see out of them. Yea! He prescribed holistic remedies first which impressed me very much. I highly recommend this eye center. They are very progressive. read more

The eye center seems great at first- but i realized quickly that other than the few hard working caring staff and a couple of doctors- this place is not what everyone had said- Most of the staff was in a bad mood- and seemed like they were mad at each other- i went in just for a check-up- ended up having my eyes dilated because new hired staff - i asked employee if she had gone to school for this- she said no- never done this before--For a place called a center- it seems they hire anyone off the streets and have a work load more than a hospital--Then i overheard a supervisor named cindy (i believe ) yelling and treating the other employees very harsh and appalling!!!- Any place that treats their employees like dogs- is not a good place at all- I understand that sometimes you have to be firm to run a business -but this was a notch under verbal abuse- I will never come back !!!!!!!! read more

I've been trying to get my contact lens prescription from them for over 7 weeks. Have follow up after follow up and office is always at least an hour behind schedule. Very inconsiderate of your time and unprofessional when it comes to keeping appointments. I would not recommend this vision center at all. read more

My first visit as an "emergency" was due to eye pain associate with shingles. They dilated & stained my eye. No lesion! "Keep doing what you're doing & see me on the 11th" On my next visit the Tech put drops in my eyes, Doc called me back to his exam room where I told him I stopped using the eye ointment after 9 days due to increased itch ( I suspected a fungal infection) By the way the ointment was ordered for 1 week! He proceeded to scold me, quite rudely! He did a cursory eye exam & said he didn't need to see me again & I could take my records back home to Iowa for my own Doctor. Here's an odd thing I noticed as I left the clinic... my eyes were not dilated. No med to dilate the eyes works that fast. I would never recommend the clinic or especially Dr. McIntire to anyone. read more
