They sell cards, helium balloons, confetti and banners etc. It is only a very small shop so can feel very cramped but it has a lot of character and is quite quirky. However the prices for cards in here are very expensive and everything is much cheaper in Redcar. I just cant justify the price difference here as it is very over priced. The shop is in a great location though and convenient if you don't mind paying extra.

When you walk in nothing grabs your eyes other than the space. However on finding the section you want you will not be short of selection as there are many many cards to choose from. There is a lovely display of those little extras you might need when looking for the little something to finish of a gift or even to give as the whole gift. There are boxed cards, gift cards and lots of chpice of good quality wrapping paper. Beware when you get to the till as just like all those card shops there are really nice little bits to tempt you to part with more of your money!

The hotel is situated on the roundabout where the A169 meets the A170 -- so it's certainly very accessible. There's a dedicated car park (accessed from the A169) where it's usually possible to find a car-parking space. Inside the hotel is well decorated and very pleasant. The restaurant serves all the things you'd expect it to, and the quality of the food cannot be faulted. It's probably slightly above average pricewise, but then you get what you pay for It's opposite the Crossways hotel and part of me fears than during the economic downturn only one of these two great hotels may survive. If so, Pickering would be robbed of a great place to eat.

Anyway it's a purple fronted shop and inside is all kinds of cards that you see in the likes of most shops but theres also some gorgeous but more expensive ones that have a kind of home made feel to them. There are loads of little gifts too - those little message cards, tatty teddies and stuff like pens with your name on. But I always find that Mainline has something just a bit different about it and you're pretty much guaranteed to always find a card you like. The shop is tiny and crammed full so watch your step as you'll be likely to send load of cards flying! It's also quite pricy in here.

This shop never fails to have what I need, it has some of the usual run of cards available but most of its stock is based around cards that offer that little something else. There are little nick nacks that always raise a laugh to customers browsing round. Fantastic staff who always make you feel like they have known you for ages!

They have a very large range of newspapers and magazines covering all genres. They do have some very nice cards and all at a very good value for money. They also sell quite a large range of chocolates, sweets and drinks and have the National Lottery. There is no parking in the vicinity of the shop but it is ideally located near to the main bus stops in the town centre and the train station, for a lot of passing trade and is often very busy. The owners are a very pleasant and helpful couple.

Three of us ordered dessert, and unfortunately it was served with fresh cream, that had turned sour. We informed the waiter, who said "The cream is off?" and just walked away. We continued to eat our dessert as the cream was on the side. The waiter reappeared after 5 minutes and said "yes, the chef agrees, do you want more cream?" As we were nearly finished we declined. A few minutes later the chef came out of the kitchen, looked at us, then went back in, without saying a word. Needless to say, we were very disappointed over all, and won't hurry to go back.

A lot of pictures of actors in the program along with other memorabilia. The place is fairly busy with tourists as you would expect in fact the whole village is, as a lot of the filming for Heartbeat is done here on location in the village itself. The North Yorkshire Moors railway has a stop here so again this makes it very busy. The hotel offers accommodation and a range of food but we didn't eat here as the range didn't appeal to us, had a couple of drinks and left. Beer served is average but there are plenty others around offering better food and fayre.

Our two were kept fully entertained all the while we were waiting for the food, and believe me, that's no mean achievement on the part of the management. The service was also particularly friendly. To top it all off the bar staff were friendly and the sun was shining. :-) Overall a gem of a pub/hotel located very near to one of my favorite places, Runswick Bay.
