I'd just arrived in London, mostly through my summer abroad, spent and penniless when I stumbled upon the Victory Cafe. After ordering a simple cup of tea I was pleased to find the hopsitality kept me through a full meal. While it's not the classiest place in town, the sheer warmpth of the atmosphere more than made up for it any shortcomings to the point that I ended up eating at the Victory Cafe for almost every meal of my week in London. The food is traditional English-style breakfast prepped in a fresh and timely manner, with a mean cup of tea to boot. I'm pleased to say that the owner noticed my less than optimal situation and I was constantly provided extra food to help me along! While leaving with more than you paid for is always a bonus, the real treat comes from the owner Louie. This man has a heart of gold. Shy and polite, and the biggest Tony Bennet fan I've ever seen, conversing with him provided me hours of life stories and wonderment as we chatted about all venues of life. Truly, he was one of my favorite parts of my entire summer traveling through Europe, an one of my favorite people to say the least! Five stars for making a wanderlust boy feel at home. read more
