As a proud native of the North Mississippi Hill Country region, I think "All Kinds of Character" is also a great way to describe the larger region. The University of Mississippi, for instance, is home to the following: - The Center for the Study of Southern Culture - The Ole Miss Blues Archive, one of the largest collections of blues recordings, publications, and memorabilia in the world - Mississippi Freedom Trail Markers - The Jackson Heart Study, the largest, longitudinal study of cardiovascular disease in Black Americans; a partnership between the NIH, Tougaloo College, Jackson State University, the Mississippi State Department of Health, and the University of Mississippi Medical Center (in Jackson) - Rowan Oak, William Faulkner's former home - The university has also played a major role in sustaining the state's strong arts and sports traditions, helping Mississippi produce the most writers per capita, the most Grammy winners per capita, and the most NFL Hall of Famers per capita. Seven former Ole Miss football players and a former Ole Miss co-defensive coordinator are actually part of the 15 coaches and players that will represent Mississippi in Super Bowl LX on Sunday. It is located right on the campus of Ole Miss, so very convenient! I would imagine this hotel is PACKED for home football games. The furnishings were fine, beds were comfortable, pillows comfortable. Needs a refresh, for sure. Removing the carpet and putting down new floors would give some life into this room! More lighting would help as well. The bathroom is old and in much need of an overhaul!! Water pressure was almost non-existent. It felt like I was showering with just a trickle of water. But, still grateful I had one to use after a long day of moving boxes and furniture. I would definitely stay here again. I just now know to expect mediocre rooms. The pictures on the website make the rooms look much bigger, brighter, and newer. The lobby is beautiful and the outside of the building is beautiful as well. Just a big letdown when opening the door to your room after pulling up to the big beautiful building and walking through the spacious and beautiful lobby.

The restaurant was outstanding, and the staff even stayed open Sunday night so we could enjoy dinner after arriving late. Our room was the real highlight--beautifully and thoughtfully designed, elegant and incredibly comfortable. Our daughters visiting Ole Miss were blown away. 1 night stay. The…read morecheck-in was smooth and super welcoming. Everything I expected of southern hospitality. The hotel has a really elevated, old-school vibe. Loved Nightbird, the speakeasy, which despite my friend's instructions truly was a bit confounding to find. Precisely how a speakeasy should be! The rooms are also well appointed, and I loved the reusable glass bottles in the room with both cold sparkling and still water dispensers. But there were also a few issues with my stay. There is no gym on site, which was a bummer. My room also wasn't cleaned thoroughly. I found three hairpins on the ground. The toiletries are nice, though the shampoo scent is decidedly woodsy and perhaps nice to some but oddly leathery to me. Not what I normally expect of a pleasant scent. Finally, and probably worst of all, the connecting doors between rooms are the complete opposite of noise-proof. At around 10pm, I was treated to quite the orgasmic show by a couple next door. To make matters worse, the conversation after sex was so crisp and clear, it was as though they were speaking right to me. How icky to hear that the man was married, and the girl he was with clearly not his wife. I heard them about to head out of the room and nosily peered through my peephole to see a guy probably in his 30s or 40s in gym shorts and a hoodie saying bye to a young girl all decked out in a short mini dress and heels. Although no option is good, I hope she was perhaps a college girl and not an escort, as the latter would be a major turnoff to have that sort of thing going on in the hotel. The thinness of the connecting doors needs to be addressed! While it was icky to hear what I heard, I imagine it would also be quite compromising if you had a private business call. Who knows who's on the other side of the wall!

First off - the location as it relates to the square and the campus cannot be beat. You walk out the front door and you're essentially on the square. We were there on a weekend and the parking was a little chaotic and left few if any spots - which was frustrating - but that is accurate of Oxford almost anywhere on a weekend (traffic, parking). The parking lot is safe and I felt fine leaving my vehicle there. Parking is $15/day. The staff is top notch. I was greeted by all staff and they were professional, friendly, and accommodating. You should feel like a "guest" at a hotel, and they accomplish that. The lobby is very welcoming and a nice place to hang out - whether you're people watching, drinking coffee, or working. Lots of tables, chairs, outlets, etc. They have a coffee shop/bistro downstairs, as well as a rooftop restaurant/bar upstairs. We patronized both and they were both good - especially by hotel standards. Our room was both "boutique'y" and modern, which I liked. All the room amenities you'd want and expect. I guess if I had to offer a downside for the room - they did not offer online/streaming tv, just cable, but that is getting pretty nit-picky and we weren't in our room that much to need it. The prices of this hotel (and essentially all in Oxford) fluctuate drastically depending on the day/weekend. On a high volume weekend I suspect this hotel would be incredibly expensive. All in all - I would most definitely stay here every time I was in Oxford (assuming I could afford it). Cheers.

Every team member ( front desk, maintenance, housekeeping, restaurant worker, etc...) that came within close proximity greeted me with a smile and a hello. Clean facility and clean well maintained room. The carpet boasted Archie and Eli's football jerseys. Great location that was steps away from the square. They have lots of breakfast and coffee options in the restaurant. The avocado toast was a good selection. There is a roof top bar/restaurant which I did not visit. Stay here if you are visiting Oxford. I know I will if my travels bring through here again.
