My child and I both love it; from the, teachers, upper staff, helping staff, the students, etc... Crescent sets your scholars up for success. Enrolling at Crescent Academy was an overwhelming experience. Definitely a culture shock going from…read morea class of 15 to several classes with 20+ students in each classroom. The first graders have their own trailer with over 6 classrooms, just for 1st graders. I thought this was great for children to develop social skills and building relationships with other students. Crescent Academy offers extracurricular activities to include girl's scouts, boy scouts, music, soccer, etc. In addition to activities, they also offer academic assistance for students that may be falling below their academic level. I gather from staff's involvement with the programs they offer, they really care. As it relates to the staff building relationships with the parents, I do see an effort being made since the last time I wrote my review. My daughter participated in the girls scout program, she was a daisy. She had so much fun and there were so many events, trips and meetings to keep the girls just as engaged. She will definitely be participating next year as a brownie. Overall, I feel confident in the academic program Crescent Academy offers. We are looking forward to next year.

The staff is so disrespectful. I'm not sure what complex they have. Every time I've come here…read morewhether to drop my brother off or pick him up I've been met with disrespect from those in the front office. They believe they're superior. I know my first name is a typical last name but having someone repeat what's your first name over and over and slower is super demeaning. The teachers are even disrespectful to the students. My brother has come home with horror stories that make you hope your child is making them up. Ranging from other students taking his stuff and the teacher telling him oh well and blaming him to the teachers forcing them to run because her glasses were moved. Let me tell you my brother has issues with his ankles and this "punishment" further worsened his condition.

But I have had a few clients that went here. I've always been impressed with the quality of the education kids in this school get. They have two school programs (K-8) and high school. There is also a large preschool/pre-K program. The teacher student ratio is good and they are very willing to work with kids who have learning disabilities and mental health issues in a respectful, nurturing way. This school is located near McNichols and Grand River off the southfield freeway. They have an impressive array of afterschool activities and extra curriculars as well including girl scouts, student counsel, camping trips, science and rocket day, and day care programs.

The teachers are wonderful. The test scores are high. There is no reason that it should be considered as low as it is. It should rank with the other schools around, but because of its history it is not. That was over 20 years ago!
