Silva Steel and Fab accepted a bid and took a $8,500 deposit. They then immediately subcontracted…read morethe work to a third party. The quality of their first attempt was substandard. The dimensions were incorrect and did not fit within the balusters -- balusters that were in place prior to Silva taking their measurements. Additionally, the spacing between the horizontal bars was inconsistent and did not meet code. The powder coating was inconsistent and completely missing in some areas. The suggested fix was to "color it with a Sharpie." Even after multiple attempts to rework the defective delivery, Silva was unable to provide a conforming solution. Ultimately, after missing the contractual delivery date by 100 days, I was left with no choice but to engage another provider. After this long mess, and acknowledging their performance was substandard, Silva has refused to return my deposit. So, I have no choice to file a lawsuit to recover my deposit. (Not that it matters, but I am a lawyer and perfectly capable of representing myself. I am throwing it out there, though, in case others have had similar experiences. I would be happy to collaborate in supporting others that have had a poor experience with this supplier).
