Oh, and you can find the cricket ground here as well, though that is really only used for local matches. Still, this place does make a great place to go for a walk.

Well, it isn't quite built on a slope because playing cricket on a slope sort of doesn't really work all that well. Rather, they have flattened it out so that you can play cricket without the ball rolling down onto the road. Anyway, the thing I thought was cool was that it seems that the buildings have built into the side of the hill, something which I do think is rather cool actually. Yeah, it is a nice park, and there is some charm about it as well.

Whether or not you own a dog, Como Park is a really awesome spot to A) bring your dog for…read moreoff-the-lead runs or B) enjoy a day in the sun dog watching. It sounds a little looney but lots of other walkers/ park lovers come to Como Park to dog watch because it's really fun seeing how dogs of all breeds, sizes, shapes and colour get along and interact. Como Park has a long standing reputation for being a top park for dogs because it is set within an oval and even though it is not gated, the dogs have so much fun running free in the oval. And most times, all the dogs get a long well. It's also a great way to keep your dog socialised and give them a chance to exercise. For those that don't own dogs, you can watch the fun while getting some exercise and have your fair share of playing with the friendly dogs who love a good pat or scratch. (tip: try behind the ears for an instant best-friend reaction) Como Park also has a gated playground, bicycle path, barbecue area and ample space to kick the footy around, so the whole family can enjoy the outdoors. The park is also home to Stonnington's Carols by Candlelight each year.

It is sort of one of…read morethose places that feels a lot like bushland right in the middle of the city of Melbourne, and the main reason that it is here is no doubt because the Yarra not only runs through it, but also twists and turns through it as well (and thus sort of providing some flood plains, not that it actually floods any more). Mind you, you will also find golf courses and the like around here, but as a park, I have to admit that it is pretty cool. Oh, and it is a great place just to go for a walk, particularly if you don't like golf.

Well, they were all running around and frolicking about in the sunshine - the huge lawns here are perfect for it - and before I knew it I was playing like a recent graduate from the Ultimate Frisbee Champion School. Apart from friendly frisbee games, the gardens are great for a stroll or a relaxed afternoon under a tree. The community garden in south-west corner is nice to poke around in, as are the hot houses. Keep your eye out for critters in the trees.

The plant life is super abundant and the amount of grass that's available for picnic is awesome! There's even that nice little playground for the kidlets. The only downside is there's always poo on the ground, yes a big downside. I'm not a fan of that being right in the pathway, especially when you are responsible enough to clean up your own dogs poop! Be kind and keep the pathways and grass clean please!

This I think is actually a pretty good thing, particularly since parks tend to be quite a nice and relaxing, and public, space to spend some time. There is also a decent river that runs through here as well, and the other thing, it also happens to be located near a rather delightful river as well, which certainly does give this place an awful lot of charm. Stumbled upon this garden as our family made our way to the Queen Victoria Market from the City…read moreCircle Tram. Flagstaff Gardens is the oldest park in Melbourne. It was established in 1862. So many beautiful flower beds as well as towering fig trees. Crossing from the City Circle Tram to the park was a challenge, but once at the park, it is a very easy walk to the Queen Victoria Market on the Northeast Corner over William Street. A nice stop while exploring Melbourne.

Apparently it is the highest natural point in the city, though that is impossible to judge based on all the buildings surrounding it. Catani gardens was named after a prominent landscape designer in the 1800s Carlo Catani…read more A Lava Rock wall encloses the park on the west side, and stretches across to The Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron. The park has all the facilities you need for a perfect summer day barbecue. It also has a few historical sites scattered about such as a sculpture of Caption James Cook, and a water fountain installed in 1911 in memory of another designer from the St. Kilda; area Sali. You can often find locals sunbaking, drinking, cooking as well as playing the odd game of football throughout the park. As it is a little more sheltered from the wind than the actual shore of St. Kilda beach, the luscious green grass is a much cleaner alternative for catching some rays than the somewhat dirty sandbank that stretches along St. Kilda to the water. The park has a running track and a great gazebo smack bang in the centre, so grab your friends, take a picnic and enjoy at drink in the park.

There are typical park bathrooms, minimalist with metal toilets, but there's running water. He variety of trees is nice. It's right along the water. The paths crisscrossing it are gravel and sand, so not great for biking. There are Los of benches. The lawns feel like they're meant to be used, and people were doing it, playing frisbee and generally lying out.
