I got numerous quotes before finding Logan and the rest were absolutely outrageous prices. Tapes To Digital was definitely the most affordable and the quality and service were fantastic. There is also sliding scale for pricing the more tapes you have. I took 25 extremely old VHS tapes to Logan and he transferred them and got them back to me within days. He also called me shortly after I dropped them off to advise me that some of them had mould on the ribbon - he suggested FaceTime in order to show me, which was decent of him, so you know it's legit - and I was so relieved to hear that he could take care of that too. It does cost more per tape for the mould treatment but that is totally fair - it's a very reasonable amount and I was just so happy he could provide that service rather than me having to find somewhere else or worse, being told my tapes couldn't be transferred. If your tapes are jumpy that will show on the digital version too - don't expect stabilization or a higher quality image than the original you provide. In my experience, the tapes affected by that were usually just affected at the beginning and then evened out. You can provide a drive or purchase one through them but I opted to have mine put onto the cloud for a small fee so I could download it from there; the files stay available for three months to give you time to download them. (Makes sure you make several copies and keep them in more than one location before throwing away your originals. Learned my lesson after a near-loss of all my photos a couple of years ago which would have been absolutely devastating, so just including a reminder here!) Half an hour later it was working again, but then broke down shortly after. i would estimate it was broken for almost half the night. Everytime i grabbed a friend to get photos with, i was told '5 mins'. They only got it working again just before midnight so i could get one photo with my husband before they left. After 2 months and 5 harassing emails later, I eventually received the disk of the photos that were taken. A loose disk arrived in a postpak, no case, no label to indicate what it was. I can only assume the disk held most of the photos because i know of at least one photo from the night that was not on the disk. Stay right away, even if they are a little bit cheaper than some other companies, its not worth it if the machine will be broken for half the night.

What is a betacam tape and why do I need to make one? The other week I put in an order to burn one hundred DVDs of my short film with a trailer at the end. I placed the order and went home where I happened to view the trailer and realised that the director had accidently added 30 seconds of cut footage. In a panic, I rang FATS asking them to stop processing the job until I could get them a new file. The lovely guys at FATS offered to cut out the excess footage for me from their end saving me probably hours of fidgety technical work. This aside, they are just nice, friendly guys always willing to explain technical issues in English and going out of their way to make my job easier. Their prices are the best in town as well. I wouldn't recommend anywhere else for all your digital replication needs.

In correction, I knew that some were student filmmakers and others were professionals. Important thing here is the fact that my sister and her husband, my family and I were extremely pleased is all that matters. He chose the location and had all the lights and camera requirements for a professional shoot. Peter is a really good director and offered me the chance to find my best acting when working the scene. The cost of shooting a scene was $500 - he provides you with a compressed e-file that you can email and a HD file that can be burnt onto DVD and distributed. Later on in the year Peter also helped me to clip together several short scenes, as an updated showreel showcasing the work I had attained through the year, this cost me $200.
