All the bad reviews are definitely a lie because the workers are amazing and the food is great. The chili dogs live up to the standards. One of my favorite spots ever and the only one I have to visit whenever I'm in the area. Hands down the best fully loaded chili dogs you'll ever have and the absolute COLDEST beers you'll find on tap. Seriously, it comes out of the tap ice cold and goes straight into a thick, frosted mug. It's a local staple and you genuinely cannot beat it. Still love this place. I have ordered for curbside pickup food, and also eaten in at the restaurant. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the make your own chili dog kit. They have the buns in one container, the hot dogs, heated wrapped in foil and a great amount of chili and cheese. They give you enough chili and cheese to put as much on your hot dogs as you want without having to skimp on the toppings. The chili here is amazing. I love the chili cheeseburger, which is what I usually get and got today. The value for what you get for what they charge is amazing. Which brings me to my one fault, which I have actually talked about before and took stars away for. But not going to do it now. Still giving his place a large 5 stars. What's my one beef... Prices and menus The menus years ago did not have prices. Then for a while they did and now they do not again. The menu on the website does not have prices either. But let me tell you. The price you pay for the food here is amazing. Chili cheeseburger $6.89. Fries $2.84 Draft Beer $5. For all three, plus a $1.00 covid surcharge ( Which I am so happy to pay to help support businesses) $17.06 A great chili cheeseburger and fries for under $10? Most places for a burger of this size and quality will charge you $12 for a basic burger and for one with chili and cheese, you would be looking at probably $15+ I think what I paid today is a little higher than I have paid some other times but I guess the upside of no prices on the menu will let them adjust the prices and charge prices in line with what food and labor costs at the time. So from a business standpoint, frustrating a bit as a customer, but I totally understand. If you have never been here, driving by thinking about stopping in, turn around and give Vienna Inn a try. Vienna Inn has been located in Vienna since 60's. The ambience is loud & boisterous in the evenings. It's a big hangout for the local intermural teams both kids & dad teams. It's a bit quieter during the days. The service is acceptable within standards. Staff is friendly but your order may come out a little slow as the waitresses are usually busy. As diners go this on the third D of the triple D if you know that show. No atmosphere so don't go for that. Seems like it could use a deep clean. Waitress kept forgetting things and self serve drinks-- water faucet broken? No prices on the menu and when we asked we were told well I can tell you them but nothing is very expensive. That was kind of true. For a hotdog and a two egg breakfast and the chip toast it was 30 with tip and most things are stereotypical cysco level stuff like the scrapple and sausage. Came through the Vienna Inn on a Tuesday for lunch. Pretty good crowd with most people drinking beers (which I loved). You can order and sit at the counter or grab a seat and you'll be waited on. The soda, tea, water are self service. The place clearly has been around for awhile and has seen no need to make any updates which definitely gives it a comfortable, come-as-you-are vibe. Service was good. Any of the servers can help if you need anything. I came here for their famous chili dogs. I got one with chili and cheese and one with chili and mustard. The cheese kinda ruined the first one. Ruined might be a strong word but all I could taste was the luke warm nacho cheese sauce and I missed the chili. The chili and mustard was much better. The chili here has a GREAT spicy kick that I don't usually find in hot dog chilis. I really liked it. Got sweet potato fries. They were standard but had good flavor and were well-salted. If this had been a normal year, today would NOT have been this year's first visit. Whenever we have league games (NVSS.org for more info), at nearby Nottoway, Vienna Inn is the place to go for post-game celebrations or mournings. Beer and bar food, what more can you want. Most of my friends get the chili dogs but I prefer the quesadilla. They've got a nice tent set up for this special time but still a few tables available inside. read more

Absolutely horrible. I have lived nearby this restaurant since 1985 and never ate there. Now I know why. I have to wonder whether the people writing good reviews for this place actually know what good food is...or they go there to primarily drink...so don't taste the food. (Even our 8 yer old thought the food sucked...and he will usually eat anything.) We tried the Chili Dog; the Chili Mac, the Pork Tacos, and the Jalapeno Poppers. The only item that had any noticible flavor at all were the poppers. Everything else was bland, oily, and poor quality. The service was also lousy. We had to keep asking for utinsils. Each time the waitress would bring only one set (tThere were 3 of us.). Then she dropped a dirty utinsil on my wife's pants, staining them. In terms of 'ambiance'...the place is a complete dump. It is filthy and probably has the same decor as when it opened in 1960...more of a dive bar than a restaurant. (Come to think about it, most of the guys from work who used to talk about this place were all notorious alcoholics...so I doubt they went there for the food even back then.) When we looked at the clientel during our visit, most were older retired people...likely folks who have lived in Vienna all their lives and ate there because back in the day there were fewer options...so they still eat there out of habit or nostalgia. But that area of Vienna is now much better developed with such a variety of restaurants which are actually good. So save your money and taste buds and give ANY PLACE a try over this god-awful place. read more

Went there recently after not being there for 5 plus years. I'm sorry to say that the chili dogs were not very good at all. If you have ever been to a Hardee's and had their Chili dogs, Hardee's are better. The service is as bad as the food also. I ordered take out and being the only person at the bar waiting after 20 mins i had to ask if my food was ready and the Head waitress who took my order asked me "what i ordered". It was sitting on the counter for 10 mins. Fries there cold and soggy with no salt. I would not recommend. read more

Not sure why the expectations are so high by some reviewers. If you are a local one knows exactly what it is. For me a nice stop off the bike trail. No convenient bike racks but you can sit by the window and keep an eye on things. Beer cold and AC refreshing in summer. Seating fine at bar or table and service always at least starts good. Little confused first time I went that you can walk to counter if not seated at bar to pay your bill without receiving check. Actually I thought a nice touch. The chili dogs are not the best but do the job. No Chicago style hot dogs here. Overall OK and can have a relaxing lunch there. read more

It has been here for almost 60 years and everyone local to the area love's it just the way it is. Sometimes I think the Vienna Inn was established when the Earth's crust was cooling. There is that sticky film on the painted wooden surfaces of the tables that no matter how much wiping, you can never remove. And the 1960's era tile, also has that hazy sheen which tells you the flooring has seen lots of foot traffic over its 56 year life span. The Vienna Inn I remember from the late-90s was infamous for inattentive and often rude service. The regulars knew to just walk into the dining room, and seat yourself and hope a server eventually made their way over to your table. And it would be 10-15 minutes sometimes before you would get water glasses or coffee refilled - and your request would often get "served" with a side of attitude. Nowadays, the water, soda, and coffee are all self-serve towards the back of the restaurant, and since the restaurant changed ownership in 2000, I'd say the staff is much more laid back, and less likely to get snippy with customers. The last time I stepped foot in the Vienna Inn was sometime in the early-2010s when I was meeting some buddies for an after work Happy Hour. Unlike most of the places in the Vienna/Tysons area, you can still find affordable pitchers of beer for less than $12. And the food hasn't changed much either. People usually come for their "famous" chili dogs. These hot dogs are nothing fancy. The dogs comes nestled in the standard steamed bun, but the chili...the chili is good. It is not too salty with a good spice blend. Top that with coarse chopped onions and florescent orange cheese sauce, and you've got a diet busting meal. You don't come to a place like the Vienna Inn for decor, but for ambiance. It is a reminder that before Vienna became a place known for $1 million dollar homes and notorious speed traps along Maple Ave, that it was a working class suburb of DC. On any given day, you can sidle up to the bar, and meet button down lawyers from the Tysons area, sitting next to construction workers on a lunch break, while a group of moms fresh from their tennis lesson are munching on monster sized omelettes. The food is not gourmet, and there are no vessel sinks or marble in the bathrooms, but the Vienna Inn is just one of those places that everyone in DC should visit at least once. read more

The Vienna Inn is a place that I've heard about for awhile now, a dive bar favorite of Yelper and locals alike, so I was at first excited to sit down for two of their chili cheese dogs. The dogs were ok, but certainly not the best that I had ever had. The chili was good but I did think the dogs were slightly undercooked. However, for me, the real issue was that this place seems to be a real draw with families and the toddler set. It really is as if someone decided to plop a bar down in the middle of an elementary school or family reunion. Don't get me wrong the place has a cool, homey feel to it, and I guess that is why it is so popular with so many locals, but I don't think that I am going to join the Vienna Inn Mouseketeer Club anytime soon. I don't say this in a bad way - it's the kind of slow that makes you want to slow down and have a good conversation with your companions. First off, this is a dive bar/restaurant. Other than TVs on the walls, and a video game in the corner, nothing has likely changed here since the 1960s. Places like this can only be so good, and generally are spots mostly the local regulars and the owners love. Judge it on what it is, and "know before you go" and you should not be disappointed (or wowed). We had hot dogs, a few sides, soft drinks, and some beers. The dogs were basically like street vendor dogs in the city. Kept hot in a big pot of water, and put into a steamed bun with whatever toppings you like. Though described as famous in the menu, if the dogs were a special type or brand, you wouldn't know it. I will say that I really enjoyed the chili on mine. She had gotten her's with the works not including the chili, and ended up swapping one of my chili dogs for hers - imo, the chili dog IS the way to go. Fries and the onion rings were on the dark side and the rings were on the greasy side (oil was probably overdue for a change). Loved that the drafts were served in a nice icy mug, a nice plus. But though icy cold, they were also surprisingly small. I doubt they were 12 oz, and wouldn't be surprised if they were 10oz (or less). But since we have no idea how much we paid for the drafts (the menus have no prices on them, nor does your check from the register break it down), I have no idea if they were small and overpriced, or small and a bargain. Waitstaff are nice and hustle to keep things moving. Never had flag one down for a refill or another dog. Despite how busy they were on a game day, food and drinks came quickly. Will we make a special trip to go again, probably not. Would we stop in again if were were on Rt 123 in Vienna at lunch time..., why not. It's not bad for the kind of place it is, but certainly could be better (IF they wanted to be). read more

MOST RACIST PLACE IN VIENNA! as soon as my mom and I walked in, everyone (including the waiters) looked at us like we were garbage. I asked a waiter, if we could just seat anywhere, and she responded very mean with a yes and rolled her eyes at me. My mom and I sat down and everything kept staring at us. We were the only people of color in that establishment and it showed why. We didn't even get to order our food because the waitress never came to us and kept taking new customers. While lots of locals and kids seem to frequent this place, I was NOT impressed with the low quality of food and the lack of cleanliness in this restaurant. Maybe try putting prices on menus? I remember my first time here; looking at a potential wedding venue at the Wolftrap Barns close by, we were a bit disappointed the date we wanted was not available. But, yes, there is a Vienna in Virginia with a local institution, that I am told has burned more than once and is famous for their chili dogs. You really can't go wrong with the Vienna Inn. It's crusty enough inside that it keeps away the snooty kind but not actually dirty. The food is yummy cheap and comes out fast and they have good options of beer on tap. Service is friendly and nothing is fancy. You serve yourself soda so you'll never have to wait for a refill.
