To start the unbelievable rotting smell of the port where we were departing from was overwhelming to say the least. Rotted water full of garbage and tons of a disgusting sea slime. You would think that doing business there this company and the others around would make sure to take care of the ocean and it surroundings as a simple human rule never mind to make that first impression a pleasant experience to the people they served. Anyways, we hoped on the water taxi and a few minutes later the driver hoped on and didn't even acknowledge that we were there. Only until I said hello he finally mumbled a hi between his teeth, VERY FRIENDLY. A very cranky, divo like, disrespectful and simply ridiculously rude man. He took us to the island and didn't even care to advise us on anything whatsoever, it was our first time, nothing at all even less a goodbye see you at 4 have fun NOTHING. The experience at the island was great we had a great time. Then he came to pick us up with the same attitude as earlier. If you are looking for a friendly water taxi company this one is not it.

Some way, some how with lots and lots of google'ing, I found PR vacation helpers. I was in contact with Jenna and Brittney via email. They were both very nice and professional. They explained that they go to the ferry twice a week to get tickets for people even though the ferry may be sold out. Maybe they have a "hookup"? I don't know how but when someone mentions they may be able to get you tickets to something that is completely unavailable to the general public, you zip your mouth and don't ask questions lol. They explained that I had to paypal the company $30 for three people on the ferry roundtrip and that if they are not able to get the tickets for whatever reason while at the ferry terminal, they refund you everything but $5. I was skeptical about sending money's electronically to a company I did not know but I did it anyways in hopes to get to Culebra. It just so happens that due to my own I tinerary and tight schedule for the day, our Culebra trip couldn't even happen :( therefore, they refunded me and called it a day! They tried, so did I. So sad it couldn't work out but I can honestly say, I WOULD use them when my itinerary does allow me for a full day in the future. Try them out! They are honest and professional. A for effort.

I really wanted to go on a bioluminescence kayaking tour at some point and I'm glad I went. That…read moresaid, I think a lot of the negative reviews have to do with people's expectations. No, the bay does not glow at night even if it is very dark out. Yes, kayaking is work. If you haven't done it before, it can be challenging. I don't know if I would recommend it if you're not very familiar with how to kayak and if that's the case, there are other options to seeing the bioluminescent organisms. I was nervous when we first walked toward the kayaks because there were so many other companies going at the same time. However, this wasn't really an issue as all of the guides were really helpful in keeping the group together. I found the kayaking to be fine, but I'm a decently experienced kayaker. Arriving in the bay at first may seem disappointing because it isn't glowing, but our guides were great and provided tents so you could actually see the glow! It was so worth it. I will say that once you're out on the bay, there's not really a point in taking pictures. It is hard to angle your camera so you can see the glow without dropping your phone/camera in the water. You really don't need to bring anything with you in the kayaks so I'd recommend leaving your phone and wallet in the car. The guides will hold on to your car key at the front kiosk!

You paddle through Laguna Grande, one of the world's rare bioluminescent bays. I was very excited to see the bioluminescent but since this tour is very popular and so many tourist do this the area was crowded with other tour groups. The experience of being able to swish the water with your hand and see the bioluminescence was short. It is quick as you do this when sun sets you aren't mean to be out paddling in the dark. So as the sun sets you arrive to the area where bioluminescence can be seen, you see it and then you paddle back. The tour can get pricy with a big group. I would recommend this as it is so rare. It is worth experiencing but just know it is short. It is a cool experience to paddle through the waters and trees of Puerto Rico.

The Van was new and very clean, because of that I happened to notice the seats had been embossed with Their logo "Blessed Tours". I remember thinking that was good as I hadn't even talked price with Anthony. When we arrived at the airport I found the price was very fair and I even tipped him for his courtesy. I am so glad I noticed the name on the seats as I left my Nikon P-100o and Coolpix cameras on the back seat. I didn't notice they were gone until it was too late. I emailed the web site and Anthony e-mailed me back with in the hour to say he had found them and they were safe. He offered to run them right over to the airport unfortunately my plane was scheduled to leave and as it was a direct flight I could not wait. I told Anthony I would contact him when we arrived home to arrange shipment back. Anthony stayed in constant touch with me until I was able get him all the necessary information for shipment back to me. I Venmo'd what the approximate shipping charges were to be and added more for his time and trouble. Anthony shipped off the cameras and sent me the receipt but he also called everyday to see if they had arrived safety which they did!!! It is nice to know that there are people in this world like Anthony! I was told to contact Angie to arrange transportation from SIG airport to the rental house I had booked. I needed a van size vehicle to accommodate 6 people, plus luggage. I was told Angie could easily handle this transport and that she would provide this service. I left a voice mail, text message, and Facebook message (which was read immediately after I sent it). Silence. No response to any of my messages even though I gave the name of the woman from the rental house that recommended Angie. Luckily, I found Maritza's Rental Cars to be most accommodating and responsive, friendly, professional, and eager for my business. I also told the house manager to refer vacationers to Maritza's instead. Customer service at Vieques Island Tours and Transportation? No bueno!
