In 1999 the park was named Hoo-Hoo Park from a fraternal order of lumbermen called Hoo Hoo International that contributed to the building of the park's boardwalk. A Sheriff's Office sting operation arrested 32 men on sex charges. Over 300 people were charged with improper sexual activities during the 10 years the park was open. Brevard County closed the park and worked on rebranding it for the community with a new name, Riverwalk Family Park. They added a nature center and invested $275,000 in park improvements. Today this a destination anyone who loves nature would be happy to visit. I started out in the charming nature center where I met Tommy, Pringles, and Chips, the resident turtles who swam right up to the glass to say hi. The nature center has displays about the animals and plants that live near the Indian River, maps and information on other local nature parks, and it also offers nature programs. On the day I visited they had binoculars for use in the park and free water color painting set up. Behind the nature center is a 915 foot boardwalk that takes you to the Indian River Lagoon. Although it is shorter compared to other nature boardwalks in Brevard County, it is the perfect length for the same children who would enjoy the nature center. In 2016 Riverwalk Park received a $20,000 grant from the National Recreation and Park Association. They used the money to build a Nature Explore Classroom set between the trees of the nature preserve. The interactive play zones radiate around a central grassy area with an old tree stump as the focal point. Some of the areas are a water play area, plants and play, a deck for tree forts, and musical instruments. The park also has a picnic pavilion, restrooms, and a butterfly garden.

Wish the boarded path would lead over the ravine and into a nice picnic/play area. I like how some of the plants along the walk are marked. Did not appreciate the cigarette butts by the water. I have lived here many years and driven by this location and never knew it was there. Parking is convenient with a small parking lot right off the road and next to a fenced-in playground. The park is easily accessible due to it's location, making it a great spot for quick visits or extended stays.It offers a peaceful escape with well-maintained grounds and serene surroundings. It has a mix of amenities ideal for various activities such as leisurely walks, photography, meditation, or play. There is a scenic walking trail that winds through beautiful trees and near ponds and a small wooden bridge, creating an inviting environment for relaxation or capturing nature shots. Families can enjoy the playground, while others use the open spaces for quiet reflection. There are open areas as well as open wooded sections. The park's tranquil atmosphere and picturesque settings make it an excellent location for filming or nature photography, offering diverse visual appeal. The park's charm lies in its simplicity, providing a serene retreat for both individuals and families looking to enjoy the outdoors in a peaceful community setting. It is truly linear in that it is a singular trail that's extends to the Pineda Causeway and back. The park trail has historical information along the way, as well as information about local wildlife. The trail takes you through classic Florida wetlands. It is quite popular and frequented by walkers, cyclists, and joggers. It is about 2.5 miles one-way, so about 5 miles round trip. Be prepared to have sun exposure. Also, it seems like a popular trail for dogs and their parents. There are benches interspersed throughout the trail and garbage cans for convenience. Today I walked the 5-mile journey and I will be back. It was a gorgeous escape from city life. The parking was convenient and it really is free. If you plan to do the full length of the trail, bring water. It can get hot because of the direct sunlight.

This is a large Park with lots of walking trails around different wetland areas. It seems like it's a man-made Park with Wells constantly feeling lakes and pumps pumping water from one lake to the next lake. There are areas we can ride your bike for bike riding/mountain bike trails and lots of walking trails as well as there's docks you can walk out and look out on benches you can sit on and a few towers you can go up to get a bird's eye view. For wildlife I saw lots of different species of birds and a lot of alligators. These alligators did not seem friendly like the ones at gatorland. I also saw a lot of bunny rabbits and the rabbits were used to people unless you're pretty close to that.

I've read others' reviews and think my timing wasn't ideal so perhaps visiting another time of year would yield different results but for late summer viewing, it was basically devoid of wildlife and not recommended: try another time of year! If I am in this area again I'll try for another visit and if it's a vastly different experience I'll be sure to update this review to reflect that experience.

Rotary Park at Suntree is a spacious 10.36 acres. Amenities include a large shade covered playground, a beach for swimming and fishing, and six individual picnic pavilions with tables and a grill named for some of the wildlife that makes its home here like herons, dolphins, and manatees. Rotary Park at Suntree is a stop on the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail, a network of more than 500 premier wildlife viewing sites across the state. There is also a large pavilion with a capacity for 150 people with restrooms and barbecue pits, and a 140 foot fishing pier. This park is the ideal destination for play, fishing, and small and large gatherings. The view of the Indian River is gorgeous from anywhere in the park and if you are lucky you may be able to spot a dolphin swimming by. Rotary Park at Suntree is administered to by the Rotary Club of Rockledge. Rotary was started by Paul Harris, a Chicago attorney who formed the Rotary Club of Chicago on February 23, 1905 so professionals with different backgrounds could exchange ideas and form lifelong friendships. Through the years Rotary expanded to include humanitarian missions. Today Rotary International is a network of 1.4 million people who work together to promote peace, fight disease, provide clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, save mothers and children, support education, grow local economies, and protect the environment. The Rotary Club of Rockledge, Florida, was founded in 1927 and it was the first Rotary club in Brevard County, Florida. You will often see a Rotary Park in Florida Towns because of their mission to improve the community.

Not knowing what the park had to offer, I would have walked into one of them just to get my bearings and to see the over layout of the park. I made my way to the Pavillion, passing a playground. The Pavillion was completely empty and led to the fishing pier. The grounds were very interesting with the unique rock formations and waves crashing along the shore. I saw a manatee, which was totally unexpected but a welcome surprise. Squirrels and birds so used to human interaction stood only a couple feet of me at times. It was like something out of a classic Disney film. Overall, it was a nice visit. I enjoyed my solitude and the beauty of nature surrounding it.

Chapter represented 60 organizations that urged the commissioners to rename the park to honor what took place during the wars and to recognize the cruel treatment suffered by prisoners of war. POW/MIA Park is one of several waterfront parks along this stretch of the Indian River. What makes this 4.58 acre park stand out is that it has a two lane boat ramp for motorized vessels. There is also a kayak and canoe launch. Near the boat ramp is restrooms. On the other side of the park is a community center with a meeting rent that can be rented for private events. Shoreline fishing is permitted in the park. This park is primarily for the boaters and anglers although anyone would enjoy the tranquil water view. Other waterfront parks in the area offer picnic and playground and amenities.

There is a cute little park for the kids to play, there is a lot of different horseshoe areas, volleyball nets, ponds, and covered shelter areas. I've seen a lot of people go there for parties. They even had a bounce house delivered there.
