We really loved our fish. It was very yummy and smooth. I love the texture and the taste (6 of 10). The fries definitely needed some additional seasoning, but it was fresh. The shrimp was a little overcooked with no seasoning! My biggest Takeaway is I would come back here again, BUT please stop sweeping while I'm eating. It is so rude to sweep where people are eating. I don't know how else to say it but that!!!!!

Located in a small strip center, I was a little wary because it wasn't super clean. Dirty glass, floor and tables did not overrule the wonderful Smells coming from the kitchen. We ordered a variety of dishes including fried fish&shrimp, snow crab clusters, Bahn Mi sandwich, and crab cakes. Everything was good food wise but the plastic cutlery was cheap, the drinks came in cans, and the service was bring a plate when it's done. We ended up waiting for 45 minutes for the three orders of snow crab clusters meaning everyone was done eating 15 minutes BEFORE they got their order. Management did come three times to tell us it will only be a minute, 10 minutes apart. While the food was good, we will not be back.

Stopped by for lunch because my parents have fond memories of food from here when we ordered it to eat at our condo during our visit to Galveston several summers ago. On this in-person visit, the food was just ok, nothing special. We ordered fried catfish and shrimp, with fries and fried rice. The batter was light but had no flavor so I had to use lots of tartar sauce and cocktail sauce. I saw several diners eat the Vietnamese Rice plates and maybe that's what I should have ordered. The restaurant is not as clean as I'd like. The floor is sticky causing your shoes to make noise when you walk. Be aware that there's only one restroom.

So IMTexas 70.3 relay weekend all about keeping up carbs before race. Day decided mix it up so found Viet Cajun near air BnB. It lot like Yamamoto had no idea the food be more less Vietnamese food in Texas. I was surprise but the Pork Banh Mi. Pretty good. Nothing as legit as the ones get in Vegas. In Galveston definitely hit the right spot. The bread was solid, hearty, and sandwich order again. I got it take out. The restaurant inside has decent amount of seats. U go up counter order then pick up food. It kind of food court style find spot sit down. The staff interacted with friendly and nice. If in Galveston. Viet Cajun would recommend.

The best fried fish I have ever had! Not sure what their seasonings are but it's laced with Cocain. All the seafood was great. The fried rice is also amazing. We also had the cheesecake egg-rolls for dessert and ONG! Fabulous!

Located in a strip mall, this was one of the few dining locations within walking distance of the hotel we were staying at. No frills seafood boil place that also serves several Vietnamese dishes including pho. Ambiance is casual - You order and pay at the counter, then are seated and your meal is brought to you. Ordered a variety of items, including pho, shrimp vermicelli, shrimp fried rice, fried seafood combo (fried shrimp, oyster and fish) that came with choice of fries or fried rice, and gumbo. Only gumbo is pictured, as we were hangry and devoured our food. Pricing was reasonable and spent about $80, easily feeding 5 people.

I was beyond amazed at this little restaurant. My partner and I came in after stopping at the gas station in the same parking lot. The atmosphere is very relaxed and cozy. The menu was expansive and truly had something for everyone. We ordered a pho to share and a pork banh mi. The food truly exceeded our expectations. I was particularly pleased with the banh mi. It was a very generous serving and perfectly seasoned. We were even fortunate enough to enjoy our food while the restaurant played Cars 2 on the tv in the dining room. We will definitely be coming back to Viet Cajun!

I am so happy my sister showed me this place. 10/10 soo delicious and flavorful with reasonable prices. Wow. Both of one my favorite types of food together in harmony. Boudain balls were packed with flavor and delicious fresh. They do not skimp on anything. Their Banh Mi was stuffed with delicious pork that was so flavorful and a great compliment to the pickled carrot and the fresh bun. Wow. GO HERE if in Galveston. Service was so sweet. Very popular so make sure to get there asap. :)

Fried basket with fried rice, 3 fried fish, 6 fried shrimp, and 6 fried oysters.

I usually come here for their crawfish. The best FRIED RICE I have tasted. Felt like my father was in the kitchen cooking. I don't know what sort of breading or batter they use. It tasted like cornmeal and it is wonderful. Shrimp, oysters, fried fish came out golden crispy like I like.!!!

    "Homemade Lemon Tea"

Could be good but just little effort on improving the quality. "Homemade lemon tea" tastes like liquified orange flavor snowcone. No good won't ever order this again.

We were looking for a quick lunch and wanted to try out a Viet spot on the island. It was a Friday during Lent so we were looking for seafood. You order at the counter when you walk in. Being our first time, I didn't get a chance to fully peruse the menu. The person at the counter was not rude, but I felt the need to hurry up and order. I went with a fried seafood basket. You can choose between French fries or fried rice as your side. I thought that was cool, and of course I chose fried rice. You seat yourself and they bring the food to your table. It came out fairly quickly and was hot and fresh. This is casual spot and has a view of the beach across the street. I would come back to try the more traditional Viet dishes.

The oysters did have a different type of flavor to it. I can't explain the flavor it just didn't taste appealing to me. I also tried the GO TEXAN GULF SHRIMP RODEO For $46. It had Texas size shrimp feast of: jumbo grilled shrimp, blackened shrimp Veracruz & rice, rispy shrimp frogs, fried shrimp on fries, & Mexican shrimp cocktail. The jumbo shrimp was my favorite out of the whole thing. It was seasoned and had a spicy kick to it. The Mexican shrimp cocktail was strong on the tomato flavor. It had a bunch of shrimp mixed up in it along with some shrimp on the glass. This dish was not for me. It was a little spicy but overall I guess the tomato was too strong for me. I think people who enjoy something like michelada or bloody Mary's might like this. The shrimp that was on the skewer tasted a little burnt from the grill so it had that char taste.

That being said, it had been some time since I've gotten some proper fish-n-chips. I had to remedy that. Especially since the BBQ fiasco the other day, I was going to go on a hunger strike, but once I made the sign, I got potato chip fingers on it and started to eat it. So, I decided to fight fire with fire, and figured I would eat myself happy again. Which I'm never mad about. Sometimes I make myself angry just so I can eat myself happy. And now, the rest of the story. I have learned that I enjoy Cod fish for my fish-n-chips. And I think also Haddock. I am not a fisher nor a fish. So it's hard for me to say. But I know Cod is one for sure. I also sometimes have baby mouth and am afraid of new things. I do know I love my fish battered and deep fried. I also know that Shark Shack had good reviews for their fish, so, that was all I needed to hear. Plus, it was a perfect little eatery with bar seating, table seating, and gifts! So you can bet your bottom dollar tomorrow I ordered the English fish-n-chips. Boy oh boy. Just like how Britain colonized all those countries back when it was the cool thing to do, these fish and chips colonized my taste buds. Respectfully. This plate came with FIVE logs of fish. FIVE! Maybe they were tubes of fish? Honestly, I don't care what shape they came in, they looked perfectly crunchy and perfectly brown and perfectly fish. The super cool extra bonus? These fish came with CRISPIES! I've only ever seen crisps with fish from Long John Silvers, whose fish is probably as far from Cod or Haddock as legally possible. I actually think one of my pieces of fish from there had shoelaces. Didn't matter. Still ate it. Respectfully. (If you aren't privileged enough to know what fish crispies are, there little batter pieces that fry or fall off the fish as they cook. Basically little crumblies. If you make a wish over a fork of them and get the forkful in your mouth without dropping any, your wish will come true). Homemade tartar sauce was good, but there was a certain flavor profile that I wasn't a fan of. It was still good to use on the fish rods, it just tasted a little too much out of the tartar sauce field for me. The meal was wrapped up nice and tight with lovely square-cut fries. Perfect doneness. Perfect Ketchup vessel. I could just stare at a pile of them all night. Mostly because I'm weird. I decided to lean more toward the 4-star side, so here we are. While in Galveston for a quick weekend getaway, we wanted to go out for dinner. Katie's was my first choice, but the wait was too long, so I pulled up Yelp to see what else was recommended. Shark Shack had great reviews, and when we arrived there was zero wait, so we went for it. The one area where I docked a star was the service. We were seated immediately but waited quite a while for our server to appear, and then even longer to get our drinks. I was so excited for a margarita, but when it arrived in a plastic cup, I was immediately disappointed. Plastic cups are for the beach and nightclubs, not a restaurant with a bar. And that's not where the awful drink experience ended -- it was so weak and just not good at all. Our server seemed so disinterested in everything: taking our order, answering questions, and when it came time to pay, we had to wait ages to see him and wave him down. The food was decent with no major complaints. It wasn't "blow your mind" amazing, but it was good. The owner -- well, I assume he was the owner -- came and spoke to us when he found out my husband was military, and he was really nice, friendly, and very supportive of the military community, offering a very generous military discount. That definitely raises the rating and is much appreciated, so thank you. Overall, the big fixes for me would be the service and the drink situation. I can't say we would rush to come back just because we love Katie's for the service, food, and drinks..

My wife ordered the fried pickles, and while fried pickles are pretty much the same no matter where you try them, they indeed hit the spot here. We ordered our son some chicken tenders and fries, which I was happy to steal a few bites of, despite it being pretty typical. You can't throw chicken tenders in my face and expect me not to indulge. Fish Company Taco proved to be like finding water in the desert. A lot of Galveston eateries are very similar, in that there's an ample amount of fried seafood on the menu, which is not exactly what you're looking for when you're in the bloated, but wanting to eat *something* state that we were in. My thought was: fish tacos are relatively light and we can walk there from our hotel - how do you beat that? What I didn't realize is that this place probably belongs more in the Heights than Galveston. And I mean that in a good way. The menu is very hipster-coded. And the food matches with hipster quality. It's hard to say what my favorite item even was. The one thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the fish dip - it was just okay. Everything else ranged from good to great. We tried... The burger: FYI, it's more like a double stacked slider than a burger, but delicious. 3 Tacos: Dirty South, Empire and Korean Flavors. I really liked the empire and the korean flavors, but thought the dirty south had a little too much going on with the pimento cheese and chips. Sticky Shrimp: I don't even know how to describe this, but it was delicious. I thought it as more like bang bang shrimp, but it was more fried that I expected. But not hardcore fried - they almost had the airy texture of fried pork skins, but were much tastier. Chili marinated Cucumbers and corn ribs: Simple, refreshing and addicting. But I liked the cucumbers a bit more. They also had some fresh juices and we enjoyed both the mango and the coconut lime concoctions. An easy 5-stars for me and a place I will definitely recommend to anyone visiting Galveston.
