First, the noise level is a serious issue. The women's section is rarely quiet. People constantly talk during prayer times, and it is often difficult to even hear the imam through the speakers. During Ramadan nights especially, when people leave after 8 rakahs of Taraweeh, groups of women walk out loudly talking while prayer is still happening. It becomes nearly impossible for those remaining to hear or focus on the prayer. This is extremely disrespectful considering we are in Allah's house. What makes this even more frustrating is that when I've visited other masjids recently, the difference in respect and etiquette in the women's sections was immediately noticeable. It honestly made me feel embarrassed about the environment that has become normal here. The condition of the women's area is also very disappointing. The carpet is often dirty, with crumbs, stains, and generally poor upkeep. For a masjid that recently invested in building a café and is known to receive very large donations, it is difficult to understand why the women's section still has temporary rolled-out carpets instead of proper flooring and why the space has not been expanded to accommodate the growing crowd. There are many issues in the women's section that have been present for years and are only getting worse as the masjid becomes more crowded. The community deserves a space that reflects the respect and dignity that a house of worship should have.

My background is rooted in Catholic traditions and because of this, I was honestly hesitant. I worried about unintentionally offending anyone or not knowing the proper etiquette. One Friday evening, I finally gathered the courage to attend topen class for reverts and those who simply want to learn. I dressed modestly and covered my head out of respect, still unsure of what to expect. Before I even reached the entrance, someone in the parking lot noticed I looked a little lost and kindly asked if I needed help. Almost immediately after, a sister warmly introduced herself. When I told her it was my first time ever stepping into a mosque, she didn't hesitate and she introduced me to other sisters and to Jamaal, who all welcomed me with open arms, patience, and absolutely no judgment. Their eagerness and kindness made me feel at home in a place that was once unfamiliar. The community at IIOC truly embodies hospitality and compassion. The center also offers so many resources, educational classes, and support for those wanting to learn more. I only wish I had started this journey sooner. If you're considering learning about Islam or whether you're thinking of becoming a revert or simply curious I cannot recommend enough that you just take the step and show up. You won't regret it. It's such a beautiful sound that touches your soul and grabs your heart. Even if you're a non believer, one would appreciate the beauty. Location is very convenient (off 5 fwy)! So happy there's this beautiful masjid here in Irvine. I was a bit weary of the parking, especially coming for Tarawih prayer. I got in a lil after 8 & there was still lots of parking! I ended up parking in the New Horizons School parking lot. The street parking was full. I am not sure how full the actual parking was in the lot of the masjid. By the entrance there were workers directing people in where to park. The atmosphere is just lovely. The interior feels very very clean & I loved how the sisters area is a mezzanine, & not just a separate room completely blocked off (if you have been to other masjids you know what I'm talking about lol). It was a bit hot in there, which is probably my only complaint. The speakers here were so good & the sound was on point. The way it echoes throughout the masjid is just heartwarming! I love going here so far, the recitation is just amazing. Can't wait to come back again!

The brothers and sisters are all extremely helpful in helping us grow in our knowledge and being helpful when we are facing tribulations. I don't want to go on a tangent but I'll give one example. I had only gone to the mosque once before I became homeless. I brought it up to one brother there and within a few moments he got me a hotel for 3 days, put me in contact with some hiring managers, sent my old car to a mechanic to get fixed.... At that time I was a complete stranger to him! Alhamdullilah! As a revert I also came in very unknowledgeable but the brothers here have been, to the utmost degree, helpful with teaching me. Help with recitation, expanding Arabic vocabulary, tajweed, hadiths, and any other questions I have had they have made a great effort to remove me from a state of ignorance This is the perfect place to come when your spirit needs Allah , your mind needs knowledge, and your heart needs companions. They are also very involved in the community and constantly doing charitable acts like food drives, dawah groups going to different parts of the city to spread the word, and there is a bulletin board filled with all other communal things. The teachers are amazing, especially those who teach the Qur'an, and they make learning really enjoyable. They have a private school called Al-Huda that runs Monday through Friday, teaching Arabic, English, and Islamic studies. There's also a weekend school on Saturday and Sunday, which I personally recommend. Kids of all ages can learn Arabic, Qur'an, and Islamic studies, mashallah. This center is a great place to strengthen your iman, get closer to Allah, and be part of a welcoming community. If anyone wants to learn about Islam or become Muslim, they are very supportive and helpful. I highly recommend spending time here, whether for personal growth or family activities.
