A must visit if you are in São Paulo! I went in March and admission was free (R$0,00). There was a…read moreline to get in, but it moved pretty quickly. You will walk through a security metal detector right before you are let inside the main entryway of the interior. I traveled from Pinheiros - I took the metro from Faria Lima station to Luz station. A one-way ticket for the metro should be R$4,30. There is a huge park across from Luz station where I walked through and explored a bit before locating Pinacoteca. Pinacoteca had some of my favorite exhibits on display when I was there. I kind of felt like I was in an NYC museum. Yes, there were a good amount of people inside, but it was not overly crowded and there were plenty of areas to disperse to if you prefer to see things with few people to no one around. I did have a hard time trying to figure out where the real exit was though, haha. I went so many different ways that seemed to lead to a dead-end (emergency exit door that I was afraid to try to open in case an alarm would sound). There is a cafe at the bottom floor by the main exit once you do find it. The line was pretty much by the door. I took a peek inside and it appeared like a buffet almost but I could be wrong. Must have been good cause they were crowded. I remember walking by the outdoor dining area on way to the entrance of the museum from the park and it looked busy. There is a small museum store outside with colorful umbrellas, tote bags, books, shirts, and other merchandise. The museum is also multi-level - elevator accessible as well as stairways on every corner I think (or at least on two opposite ends of the building). Ubers can pick you up / drop you off from the street side that faces the front of the museum.

Great museum with very representative works from Brazilian and Paulista culture. There are also…read moregreat expositions of renowned artists.

We were in Santos for the day as this was a cruise port stop for us. We had booked a highlights of…read moreSantos tour that included a visit to this museum. Please note there are a few rules here: No backpacks, no water bottles, no flash photography. They do have free lockers with a key. If you need to leave your items before you can enter the museum. If it's a hot day, there doesn't appear to be any air-conditioning in most of the museum, we did find a rumor two upstairs on the second floor that was air-conditioned so you may want to come in the morning before the heat sets in It was good we had a guide that was English speaking that walked us through the museum. There are some English descriptions on items, but not many as one would expect. The tour starts on the old auction floor, which is basically the main area of the first floor and then you proceed into a side room that has more coffee bean trees, as well as different implements. Make sure to pop into the room where you can watch a movie and then from the back exit of that room you head upstairs. The second floor is extensive so make sure you save some time to get all the way around. There is one area up there that is more modern and even has virtual reality headsets. behind this room is a tasting room. I don't believe many people explored enough to find this place! When you're all done, take the time to head back downstairs to the museum café, and use the device to order yourself coffee and cake. We had the brewed coffee and it was absolutely fantastic. Our visa credit card worked just fine and service was friendly and prompt.

If you love coffee, this museum is for you. There just aren't coffee samples, which one would…read moreexpect. The placards are not in English. Fortunately it is air conditioned

Yes...its a pain to get into the party....and...thats where all the pain ends !!…read more Heineken Up On The Roof (2016 edition) was held on the rooftop (where else !) of Mirante do Vale - the tallest building in São Paulo. They took over the top floors and really put on quite a show. The space was divided in 3 ambients - the 'dance floor' area, the lounge area and the helipad where once could get a 360-degree view of this beautiful chaos called São Paulo. Different guest DJ's & bands performed ever weekend - the parties were weekends (Friday through Sunday) only and the whole event went on for 6 weeks with a break during the Carnival weekend. So let us get to the nitty-gritty, the beer was all Heineken although they did also have Sol & Desperados, the 3 cocktails also had some Heineken in them and some snacks etc. The beer on tap was what I drank all the times I went there - it was extremely well chilled and perfectly served. One of the high points of the event was the service - there was not a single moment of rudeness, right from the host to the bartenders & the security staff; even with the crowds, beer didn't take long to be served and every single time it was well served. The quality of food however was dismal - we tried our luck twice and were left disappointed with the quality of food. The music was really good, different DJ's & bands performed and even though I didn't know most of them, I really enjoyed the music - they got the crowd moving and really created one hell of an ambience. Total party ! My favourite part of Heineken Up On The Roof was the rooftop (the helipad) - never had I seen São Paulo from such a height in a 360-degree view. If they had installed a bar at the roof, I don't think I would have come down to the lounge area..lol ! The restrooms were very clean and well maintained. Heineken Up On The Roof was a surprise - I thought it was just overrated etc but it was a real good party and it hadn't it been for Rogerio S., I don't think I would have gotten there...and definitely Fabio S. for partying along with me ! Heres looking forward to the next edition !
