If you leave the pool you can ask for a receipt and come back later that day. Lifeguards are very friendly and helpful. The view over Barcelona is amazing and it's a nice experience to swim in a pool where the Olympic Games where once held in 1992. Too bad the diving pool next to the Olympic pool isn't open for the public.

The place is squeaky clean. I paid €15 for a one month membership, which ain't bad. The hours of operation are ok. 6-midnight on most days but the guy closes at earliest sign of a bank holiday or religious occasion. It's often closes on 9 pm, on weekends, for example. Bring your own water/energy drink bottle. It has no water cooler of any kind. Not even tissue or napkin dispenser. Rather frustrating. There is a soft drink machine which has some kind of energy drink, I assume, but it only takes coins; no tender, no credit cards! The equipment, while new, is very, very limited, if you're into body building. One chest, one shoulder and one back exercises machines. That's it. There is the rope that hangs from the ceiling and it lets you do some additional back and abdomens stuff, but it's very limited in general. One bright spot is the cardio machines. They're everywhere and they span the whole spectrum. It's a 2 1/2, really, but the €15/mo. rounded them to 3 stars.

I searched for nearby gyms and found Basic-Fit which offered day passes, multi-day passes, and of course - memberships. The gym is spread over 3 floors with a wide variety of workout options. You'll find weights, resistance machines, cardio equipment, classes, as well as amenities. I went in the 5AM hour so there was no crowd or waiting. For those traveling, you can purchase a day pass directly from the kiosk in the lobby at any hour of the day. The day pass will give you a QR code which allows entry based on the number of days you purchased. Personally, I was very happy with the place and the equipment onsite. I will be back for the remaining days I'm in Barcelona.

First off, my hotel, Le Meridien (Ramblas) provided free daily passes to my friend and me. I wanted to swim, and though the pool at Holmes wasn't a typical full-size pool, it was easily long enough as a lap pool. It felt like it was about 15 yards long, and had 3 standard sized lanes. It was heated just right too, and immaculate, with was completely encased in stainless steel (including the bottom). Amazing jacuzzi, sauna, and steam rooms (all coed, unlike at Equinox). The people at the club are all very clean and no meatheads. The staff is exceedingly nice, and the place, again, is immaculate. Everything from cotton swabs to towels are provided. Pool has kickboards, fins, and other stuff for swimmer types. They have classes, though we just watched them. Best part is that unlike Equinox, it's not overly crowded. I think it's 70 euros for monthly membership, but seemed expensive if you wanted to pay for day passes (I think about 20 euros). The club also has amazing food, and at a great price. Probably some of the best meals we had were at Holme's Place. Very healthy too. They serve you a 3-course meal (e.g. salad, entree, dessert) for 11 euros. You can sub a coffee for the dessert too. And the WiFi is free, so you can work out, then eat, and get some work done in a lovely dining room. Equinox could learn a thing or two from this place. I will miss it immensely. Which is amazing for those of us used to paying 60-70-80 a month for gyms. Waft does this mean? It has no swimming pool, assigned lockers cost around 10 euros per month (which is what would have your monthly price be 40, otherwise it's 30). There is a big machine room with ellipticals, running machines, some small time weights, a exercise wall etc. There's a cafè out in front, two rooms for classes and the like, a room for weights and weight machinery etc, a room for pull-ups and boxing, a spinning room, a sauna and two changing rooms (male and female). It is clean, and modern looking. The staff is nice, and helpful. Because it's low cost there is no reception there's a button like in an airplane where you press it and they come and help you, and they come quickly and all that. Well connected. Nice place, I recommend it.

Staff is friendly and professional most of them speak Spanish and some English so you can fight through some of the small details to get the workout done without any issues. $15 Euro drop in and of course I got a shirt but they open early and most things I found in Barcelona don't, so coming from Chicago, it was nice to get my workout in and be done by 8am. Plenty of time to get on with being a tourist. Easy enough to grab a cab back to my hotel there are plenty of them around. I just waked 2 block to a bigger street and it was much easier than fighting my way on public transportation.

They had a great deal, I was able to get one month for only 11 euros! I will say, I recommended doing the registration process at home from a laptop. When I went in to sign up, I had to do it on my phone and it look quite some time for everything to load as I put in my information. As for the equipment inside the gym, I felt there was extensive options to choose from. Lots of cardio machines (treadmill, elliptical, etc.), free weights, mats, etc. The place was very clean, too! The gym also offers a lot of group classes. Although I haven't tried one yet, I'm excited to check them out soon! I look forward to going here over the next few months!
