I've had Viland on my radar for a few months but hadn't bothered stopping by to try because I thought it was another place overhyped on Instagram. Fortunately I decided this past weekend to try it anyways with family and we all thought the food and drinks were actually really good. For the drinks, we tried the Strawberry Matcha Latte, Strawberry Tea, Peach Tea and Honey Chrysanthemum Tea. All of the drinks are definitely on the sweet side but the flavor in all of the teas were good - especially the Peach. The Strawberry Matcha Latte was solid, although the strawberry flavor is a lot stronger than the matcha. I think the food was actually even better than the drinks. My favorite of the food items was the Pate Chaud - the exterior was flaky and the meat/pastry ratio was well balanced. The pistachio croissant, beignets, and almond croissant were also pretty good and I'd recommend them in that order. Parking was plentiful and the service was very friendly. It was super busy when I went but the wait wasn't too bad given the crowd. Overall will definitely be back for more food and to try more of their drinks. read more

Found this spot on Instagram and decided to stop by for a study session. It looked like a solid café with wifi and outlets, and since it's fairly close by, I've been here a few times now. The inside is on the smaller side, and outlets are limited, which can be a little frustrating when it's busy. Once you manage to grab a seat though, it's a decent space to get some work done or just hang out for a bit. We tried the Coconut Matcha and the Silk Tofu Matcha at Viland Coffee. The Silk Tofu Matcha was honestly a 10/10! I've never had a matcha drink that unique before. The texture was so smooth and creamy, and the flavor was perfectly balanced. It was seriously so good. However... they filled the cup with SO much ice. I'm not exaggerating, about after like 7 sips it was basically gone. There was barely any actual drink because the cup was packed with ice (the photos I took show exactly what I mean). It was a little disappointing because the flavor was amazing, but you just don't get much of it. The Coconut Matcha was about a 6/10. It wasn't bad, but the coconut water kind of overpowered the matcha. It tasted more like coconut water with a hint of matcha rather than a balanced coconut matcha drink. Overall, really creative drinks, just wish there was less ice and a better flavor balance in the coconut one. Vietnamese coffee shops are in no short supply in this area of Westminster/Garden Grove, so Viland Coffee must be doing something right to have large crowds and a line out the door. After hearing a lot about their Beignets, I decided to stop in and give it a try. I ordered just one with less sugar added for 0.75 cents and it was indeed very good! Warm and very light, iI can see myself easily eating a dozen of them. Pair them with a nice Viland Coffee and you have yourself a good start to a weekend morning. The store itself is decorated very well! Very modern looking and clean. Its about small/medium sized inside with a handful of tables and some stool seating with outlets for you to plug in your laptop to work. The store front faces the street, so its a nice way to spend a weekend morning drinking coffee and watching the cars drive by. I went pretty early on the weekend which was good because I was able to snag a spot before the store got crowded pretty quickly. Checked out Viland recently and tried their Matcha Einspanner. It was okay, but if I go back, I'm definitely getting what my friend ordered: the Young Coconut Blended Matcha. Decided to try their pandan coffee latte and 2 beignets. Usually the pandan is a foam at other places, but here, it's a pandan milk which did make the drink more of a true latte. I realized after I ordered, I could've added a mini croissant to my drink for $0.85 - cute idea! I wondered if they toast it for you, so perhaps next time I'll remember it when I stop by. Got a Uji Matcha Tofu too but not pictured. - Matcha Einspanner: At first sip, great matcha taste and perfect sweetness for me (reference: I like boba drinks at 60-80% sweetness). It's smooth but strong in matcha taste. The cream was not too sweet or heavy. Definitely recommend! - Strawberry Matcha Latte: This was a perfect balance of strawberry and matcha! Strawberry flavor is there without tasting artificial. Matcha is smooth. Great option to pick! - Peach Tea: I wasn't a fan of this one, but there was a strong peach flavor. Unfortunately, it was also very floral but not in a good way -- almost like perfume for me. Also, got this 75% ice but it looks quite a lot of ice still. I would skip this drink for now. - Uji Matcha Tofu (not pictured): Interesting combo when you first hear it, but it works! Think of the flavor of a matcha latte with a soy milk substitute. This drink is essentially a matcha latte with tofu pudding as a topping. Like I've reviewed their other matcha drinks, very solid options and flavors! Overall, it's a very nice and new shop. I think that they are one of the better local cafes with great matcha drinks. Other drinks are more hit or miss. I recently discovered this new Vietnamese coffee house - Viland Cafe. And I have to say, the coffee here is incredible -- love the strong coffee (so more "aka crack coffee") to try!!! Viland Coffee House offers the traditional cà phê sữa đá (iced milk coffee) and that thick egg coffee. There are other concoctions to add to the latte like matcha, pandan, coconut, etc. The space is cozy (aka tight) and has big windows giving the brightness so perfect for hanging out or catching up with friends -- all the seats were taken so I ended up ordering togo. Since they're new, the service is still finding its rhythm, so don't be surprised if things take a little longer than usual. The drinks seem out of arrangement ...I see customers who had ordered way before still waiting for their foods and those that ordered after me got their coffee before mine. Sadly, I came to try their famous pistachio-cream croissant. The shop was sold out by 2PM -- and all was left was a display as a teaser. ^-^ I ordered the matcha coffee latte and the pandan latte (where the pandan flavored was served at the bottom).
