We were a little wary…read morewhen we saw on GoogleMaps that it was "self-serve", but its reviews were universally glowing. It's run by a single gentleman who never leaves the counter. You go in, order, collect a buzzer, come back with it to collect your food, then bring back your plates and bottles. Only then, do you pay for your food! A refrigerator is filled with drinks for customers to grab for themselves. There is no serving staff, and the tables only get wiped down when there is a break for him to leave the station - which seems to be never while we were there. Meals are individually prepared (not pre-cooked), so be prepared to wait. Portions are generous, and when we returned a plate with Manny's leftovers, the chef seemed concerned. We explained he's a small eater.
Met a lovely couple from the Netherlands who came here after being told by a bus passenger about "the best Italian food in Germany".
Probably the best example of a high-trust society. Hope the trust never gets abused.
