Sooo we own a business here in Kearny, i ordered a lunch for a rep and they sent me two large subs even though i asked for the lunch special. it came out to the 25$ which was the lunch special price. i signed the receipt and tipped. i then saw on my bank account that they took it upon themselves to change the price to the two large subs that THEY SENT IN ERROR without my permission which is fraudulent and unacceptable. never ordering from here again. if you order, use cash only!! as they will go in themselves and change the price without permission. never again! read more

Large pie on Mondays and Tuesdays with one topping for $8. Pretty great deal. The pizza wasn't spectacular, but cost effective. Didn't get the mac and cheese bites since the person who answered the phone said she never tried them. Got the mozz sticks instead. Weren't greasy so probably not made in house. We called in the order and it was ready within the time given at the end of the call. The linguini with white clam sauce was very good, brimming with chopped clams and toasted garlic. The portion was generous for the price. The four cheese pizza was excellent, with a perfect thin crust. Provolone, mozzarella, Gorgonzola, and Parmesan cheese were present and accounted for, making it a great pie. An old school feeling place with a great product to provide. Just great! read more

I live locally and had heard about this place all the time. Some negative and some positive reviews. The negative I had heard was that the delivery and in house service is slow. Sometimes over an hour wait. Let's face it, no one wants to wait that long for food. So, I decided to try it out for myself so I could have my own opinion about the place. I ordered delivery on a Thursday night and it was not bad at all... Maybe 35-40 minutes. I'll start with the positive... The penne with vodka, Side of meatballs, and clams oreganato were a big hit! Delicious!! The shrimp Fra Diablo Was Just ok. Nothing to brag about and I've had better plenty of other places. Now for the Negative- The REAL disappointing part of this dining experience was the pizza!!! I kept hearing how great the pizza was. I don't know what they were rating it on, but mine had Little amounts of cheese and sauce and the crust tasted like cardboard. Maybe it was an off night? I don't know what happened here but we literally threw the Pie out. All in all it was more of a positive experience than a negative one and I definitely would try the place again. So, I have visited this Resteraunt several times after my initial review. My last experience was unpleasant to say the least. NOT because of the food...but because of the incompetent service I received from one young girl who answers the phone and takes orders. As an owner, you need to be responsible for whom you employ. When you own a business you have to always remember that the customer is right and if something goes wrong......you have to right that wrong. After reading my review on here I was contacted by the owner, Joe. He contacted me to see if he could make up for the incompetence of one of his staff members~which I have a lot of respect for. I will go back and give this place another try for 2 reasons. 1-The Majority of the food is very good. 2. First time ordering from here and was quite disappointed. Ordered a sandwich and french fries, was told it would take 30 mins, ended up taking an hour. Sandwich was cold upon arrival and I've never seen french fries thrown in a bag and delivered the way they were. Not sure if i'll be ordering from here again. read more

Wow. So far I've been to this place twice on my lunch break and it as been good. First I had the chicken parm dinner and I was full as a cow. Next I tried the chicken parm sandwich and the same deal. The best part of the meal which is my favorite is the bread. The dinner meal came with bread and it made it 100 times better. Than I got the sandwich the other time and the bread was perfect. This was our first and last time ordering from this restaurant. I called ahead since it's right near my daughters school. They said 30 minutes. I showed up about 40 minutes and was told it wasn't ready but would be any second. Went to get my daughter came back and was told 10 more minutes. 15 minutes later they brought out the pizza and said oh we have no control over how long a pizza can take. That just struck me as odd. We have been customers for many years and have always been pleased with everything we have ordered from here. We moved out of the area and still travel 20 minutes each way when we are able to, so that we can grab some of our favorites. Unfortunately, about two weeks ago I placed an order for pick up and will no longer be visiting this restaurant. I ordered a salad, French fries and a chicken cutlet sandwich to share with my husband and our son. We picked up our order after our 20 minute drive and headed back home. We drove 40 minutes for this meal only to find that after I specifically mentioned THREE times that we do not want mayonnaise on the sandwich, there was a ton of mayo slathered all over it. I immediately called to complain and after I explained the situation to the girl at the desk, her only response was "okay, sorry about that". I said no, I want you to tell the owner, which she went and did and the response was "if you order again, next time we will make sure it's right." So I threw away a $10 sandwich and wasted time and money traveling there. The part that was most upsetting is the response from the establishment. They didn't care that an error was made and there was no offer to make it right. They got their money and that's all they care about. We won't be back and we will be sharing the experience with all of our local friends and family. Three stars because we really liked the food here. read more

I had a mollifying experience eating at Villa Italia last week. The restaurant was almost full and we were seated in a reasonable time. The wait staff was patient during our 2 hour meal; they checked on us and answered all our questions. Even though they had other tables, they acted like we their paramount concern. The food deserves 5 stars for quality and presentation. The taste - superb! I would definitely recommend this place for a great Italian meal with plenty of ambience. read more

Over twenty minutes to make an Italian sub... When I asked how much longer, the owner gave me the worst attitude, explaining how this is no Burger King and everything is made Fresh. I demanded a refund for my food because of the rude customer service, and he refused. The poor girls who worked there were nice and apologized, but I will never go there again! This place is literally in my back yard and I have had many of the sandwiches and pasta dishes. Everything has always been made quickly and fresh. I generally just stick with your basic pizza pie and it never disappoints. The only thing that I don't like is that it's closed on Sunday when I want to grab something to watch NFL but I respect an old school restaurant that honors family tradition. The worst experience I've ever had with a restaurant. I am new to the area so I used Yelp to find a good pizza place in town. I should have paid more attention to the reviews on wait time. I ordered a pizza at 6:45 and they said it would be delivered in one hour. It had snowed earlier in the day so I assumed that was the reason for the delay. At 8pm I called back because it had been over an hour and I thought maybe the driver had the wrong phone number to call or something. They confirmed that they had all the correct information and my pizza would arrive shortly. At 8:15 we called back because the restaurant is only 7 minutes away, it should not take 90 minutes to deliver the pizza. We were told that the roads were bad, but that the pizza had been sent out. 20 minutes later they called and said the pizza was 1 minute away. 10 minutes later (8:45) we hit the 2hr. mark and I cancelled the pizza. They said we would have to tell that to the delivery guy when he arrived. At 9pm the pizza delivery car pulled up, but I guess he called them first because he never called us. After canceling the order we called Domino's. 30 minutes later we were eating pizza. Literally 30 minutes. One note in Villa Italia's favor. They called back to let us know that they had charged our credit card up front, but that upon cancellation had refunded the money. I appreciate their quick response on that front at least. read more

I have been to the fine eating establishment a million times the food is AMAZING I mainly stick to pasta or salad but my all time favorite is the buffalo chicken salad! They're prices are really low for the high quality food you get and the staff is really nice as well, the owner is always there making sure all goes well, best Italian food in town! read more

It's taken 15 years of living in the area to find an Italian restaurant / take out joint that I LOVE. The quality / value ratio is excellent. All the sandwiches are huge and more than reasonably priced. Shrimp Fra Diablo is amazing and actually spicy, love the mussels, Sicilian pizza is awesome. You get the idea. I rarely eat in, so don't know about the wait. Call in time for pick up is usually 20-25 min., not bad for a place that actually cooks their food from scratch. It's an open kitchen, so you can see for yourself when you pick up. Front counter girls are always very sweet and the owner has always made me feel appreciated. Always says hello to me by name ( he knows it from my ordering from their so much) which is nice. Try their food, you'll be glad you did....ENJOY! read more

Not to mention, they screwed up my order!!!!!
