Really pretty restaurant decorated with old celebrity photos on the inside and then 2 nice outside eating areas- recommend sitting in the garden it has really pretty statues. -Ordered the burrata for an app- really fresh with HOT fresh bread, would totally recommend for a light appetizer. -We didn't want to buy a bottle of wine so we both ordered house glasses. House white was good and very similar to a dry Riesling. My mom loved her house rose. -I ordered the spaghetti bolognese for dinner. The pasta was cooked really well and the sauce was pretty good, wish it had more meat in it. I would try something different if I went again. -My mom got the linguini Michelangelo which she loved; prawns were cooked great. The service started off incredible. The entire waitstaff was very attentive to us and all took turns helping each table, however after it got busy we were kind of forgotten about. We had declined dessert and finished our meals and glasses and we just sat there for 20 minutes waiting for the check. Finally we got a servers attention and asked for it but she made us wait another 15 minutes while she bussed a 10-top table. This restaurant was so good we went twice. My favorite dish was the maccheroni alla celentano. The sauce was delicious and the angus filet in it actually paired really well. The wine was also very good here. They have a great front and back patio for nice weather. Also tried the tiramisu for dessert. Definitely with a stop. read more

The service here is like none I've ever experienced. Our waitress was always attentive. The inside is nicely decorated with Sofia Loren and other Italian famous people. This was our last dinner before heading back home; apparently we saved the best for last. This was by far the best pizza around town that we had. The seafood pizza was amazing, with delicious chunks of garlic and fresh tasting seafood. So the calzone, oh my oh my! It has mushroom, salami and mushrooms. Even my daughter who dislikes mushrooms was interested in trying this and she loved it. It was amazing and fresh. We actually had no leftovers and this is rare for us. I don't write many reviews let along bad ones but I was so annoyed last night. We made reservations at the restaurant at 8:30 since we knew it closed at 10pm. We were looking forward to a great Italian experience, enjoying our food and wine. Upon sitting down the wait staff asked if we were ready, "at least for the drink." We ordered our bottle of wine promptly. Once we received the wine, wait staff was hovering and asked us 4 times if we were ready to order. We said each time we need some time, we would like a couple of min to enjoy the wine. On the 5th time we ordered since we felt pressured. We received our food by 8:55pm. Again they didn't close til 10pm so why the rush! We did not come to have a 25 min dinner. On top of that the pasta was soggy, meat was over cooked! We would have still be ok with the food if the experience was ok, but in this case both were terrible! I'm sorry to have to write this but most people on vaca don't have many days there and want to enjoy it. read more

Went for a late dinner on arrival in town. Staff was friendly, and food was good but not great. Pizza was okay, pasta was good. We had the linguini al tartufo, good but too oily, the pizza Medici, okay a little too doughy, and insalata melograno, a bit too much dressing. Food arrived all at once faster than the speed of light! Note they allow smoking at the tables outside, so be aware if you don't want to be stuck at a table downwind. read more

The food was great, however, Victor ruined the experience and I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. We arrived at 10 pm. They closed at 11pm. They happily seated us. But then Victor rushed us to order bringing appetizers, salad and main course all at once because the kitchen was closing. I would have understood more had this been communicated in the beginning. Very good Italian restaurant in Carvoeiro. A little up the hill from the worst hustle and bustle of the overly crowded and super-touristy center of this beach town. Located in a red, large villa, with very 'roman' inspired decorations, it is a large(!) restaurant with seating both indoors and outside on a large terrace in the back. The menu is clean and simple with all the 'classic' Italian dishes, from antipasti, pasta, pizza and primi patti. We tried the fried shrimp and bruschetta for starters, then I had the seafood linguine and my partner the pasta with veal and a creamy sauce. All very good. The only drawbacks I have are the following: first if all - it is obviously a popular and busy place, but we got our food so quickly it almost felt like they wanted to clear the table for their next guests as soon as possible - not very nice. Let people have time to digest their appetizer and have a glass of wine before you bring on the next, very full bodied pasta dish! Second, the staff was a bit too stressed and not that attentive. I think the two of us had four different waiters, and when we asked for black pepper or more water, they said yes and forgot all about it. Still. Very good food, and compared to the rest of what I have seen in Carvoeiro, that deserves four stars! read more

Coming from NYC I am used to amazing Italian food and I was pleasantly surprised by Villa Medici. My husband and I spent 3 out of 4 nights in Carvoeiro coming to this restaurant. It's such a beautiful romantic atmosphere. The food was outstanding we had multiple pasta dishes and veal dishes. Can't make one complaint. The pasta was fresh and cooked to perfection. Never lacked flavor and were unique. The staff was super helpful with choosing wine and had a great selection. Everyone was so kind and attentive. My favorites were Maccheroni alla Celentano, Saltimbocca and tiramisu for dessert. This place is a gem and I promise you will not be let down! read more

Visited this restaurant having read a number of positive reviews. We were not disappointed! Seated on an airy terrace shaded from direct sunshine we enjoyed a delicious meal. The waiting staff were attentive without being intrusive and the food was excellent. The whole family (four of us) agreed that the bruschetta which we had as a starter was the best we had ever tasted. Pizzas were enjoyed by the children and the maccheroni 4 formaggi was creamy, flavoursome and not too rich. Portion sizes were about right and the accompanying bottle of prosecco delicious. The restaurant is at the top of a hill as you walk away from the beach at Carvoeiro.
